If there is such a thing as a dual perfect performance then Queen: Somebody to love (Live In Milton Keynes) is it. This was - I believe - Freddie's favourite song and he loved to tinker around with it. No performance of it is the same and in this version you can hear the crowd chanting Somebody To Love as he revs them up. It also has the most romantic intro.

Right? And he never looks like he's trying. He's just always swinging about. Unless you look carefully, you'd never know that he was playing what he was. The whole band have a kind of effortless look about them, to a certain extent, but I feel Deacon took that a step further. La dee da dee da, while playing some of the most iconic bass lines in rock music, some of which for songs he wrote. Amazing!
4 people. Thats it, one guitar, one set of drums, one bass and one piano. No backing tracks to fill in the sound, no bank of back up singers. I saw them live, twice, and I still have to remind myself that all of that music comes from just 4 people.
They are all song writers. The only band that has each member individually inducted into the rock and roll writers hall of fame. Freddie wrote Bohemian Rhapsody; Roger wrote Radio Gaga; John Deacon wrote Another one bites the dust and Dr Sir Brian May wrote We will rock you. Freddie, Roger and Brian are all vocalists too with individual albums. ❤
@VincitOmniaVeritas. Let's not forget John Deacon's I'm in love with my car. He really pushed for that to be the A side but Bohemian Rhapsody won. Just imagine if it hadn't. 😆
If you listen you can hear how regularly Rogers singing harmonises so well with and accentuates Freddie's singing, if you listen out for Roger you will start noticing him more and more.
I'd second this. 40(ish) years on, and Queen's set at the Live Aid concert still stands, in my opinion, as the greatest live performance I've ever seen. However, "Barcelona" may be Freddie's greatest masterpiece. Two performers at the pinnacle of their respective genres ... with Freddie getting the chance to sing with his idol. Very, very special ...
The reason why Queen are such legends is because they never chased any of the trends, they created their own unique sound that explored so many different areas. They were great musicians and music was in their blood.

Thank you, great reaction. Thanks for appreciating Roger's brilliant singing while keeping a perfect beat on the drums. Every time I watch this song (and his solo: 'I'm in love with my car') I wonder how he managed to find the time to breathe....
I love people's reactions to Queen on You Tube. I've never seen anyone not smile, laugh, cry, look on in awe. There'll never be another Queen and particularly not Freddie Mercury.
Whenever I see Freddie perform live it's like he is possessed by the song that he's singing and the resulting performance is simply amazing, then add to that the world class musicians that make up Queen and you've got a combination, a musical alchemy that I doubt will ever be repeated. All we have to do is indulge in it! 👍👍
Please react to Queens song "is this the world we created", live at Live aid. This is the song Freddie and Brian sang as the finally of the entire Live aid concert.
Once you 'Get' Queen...They become part of your soul and mental wallpaper. Although now in this 21st century there is so much mystique surrounding Queen, and particularly Freddie's legendary status...We who were privileged to see Queen perform live, knew instinctively that we were witnessing inimitable greatness. I was so very fortunate to attend several of their concerts in different parts of the world in the mid 80's...This band were the perfect storm, and Freddie was the God with pockets full of fairy dust, who ensured each and every ticket holder experienced the absolute time of their lives. Dear Freddie showed us inside his heart...and we will love him forever for it.❤

I'm a Queen fan of over 55 years! WOW! I'm so happy that your reaction channel popped up on my screen. This was one of the BEST reactions I've seen of this incredible performance ... just subscribed. And guess what? I WAS THERE! I'm 30 rows back from the front in that HUGE arena being totally mesmerized by this fantastic band - so on point, so absolutely perfect in every way - the all time BEST concert I've ever seen - that's saying something because I've seen the greatest bands in concert. Everyone knows that Freddie was the most fantastic performer of all time - THAT VOICE! - but he always said that he was NOT the leader of QUEEN; he was only 1/4 of this great band. Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon each wrote Queen songs, each of them have been inducted into the "Songwriters Hall of Fame", they all had INNATE musical ability (no one in Queen received musical training) and, most importantly, they all continued to grow and evolve. And they stayed together for over 20 years! You are on a fantastic journey - I know that at least some of the MILLIONS of Queen fans world-wide will join you. That includes me! Throw a dart and react to any song from the Montreal, Wembley 1986, Rock in Rio,1985 or Budapest (Hungary)1986 concerts and you will not be disappointed!
Four amazing musicians at the very top of their game, totally in the zone, individually and collectively. I love the harmonies in the recorded version but this has so much energy that it's a joy! Recommend watching "Save Me" from the same concert. Also any live version of "Who wants to live forever" would show Freddie's passion.

In my defence, is one of my all time favorite Freddy mercury songs. It was a solo project. Next to that is guide me home/ how can I go on another solo project with Montserrat Caballe who is a Spanish opera singer. Freddy could sing anything
They literally grab hold of you and drag every ounce of emotion from you, you're almost exhausted but its SO uplifting. I adore them drums in the middle, they're almost tribal. Imagine having every single person in the palm of you hand like this!
I saw Queen on this tour at Madison Square Garden in September of 1980. It's possibly the best concert I've ever been to. I highly recommend watching "Save Me" from this same concert. It was the last track off "The Game" album. As the story goes, way back in the early days while performing, somehow Freddie's mic stand came apart, and he just continued the show. He just used the top part from then on.
Awesome reaction as always guys. The power and Freddie's voice always blows my mind! Any song from this concert is great tbh, but I must admit I have a soft spot for 'Save Me', Freddie's voice again is spell-binding, the way he could switch from gentle breathy voice, to gravelly, to full-on power and back again is incredible. Watch that, you won't be disappointed!
Nice to see Freddie's band mates recognised (all too often missed). This is, after all, "Queen" ... and a great front man knows he needs the very best talent around him to help him shine the brightest. That said ... to paraphrase a fellow poster on another reaction: There are rock stars , superstars, giants, legends, icons ... and then there's Freddie.
If you think they look young here, check out their 1974 show at The Rainbow. (“Liar”, “Stone Cold Crazy”, etc.) Fun Fact: Freddie’s Superman tee sold at auction last year for 57,000. USD.
I’m biased because Queen are my favourite Band. For me Freddie Mercury is without doubt THE GREATEST VOCALIST/SHOWMAN EVER! When he died, for me, Music was never the same again. He brought a level of quality, artistry and showmanship that will never be seen again. He was truly one of a kind. God Bless You Freddie.😢❤️
There will only ever be one FREDDIE. The whole Montreal concert is fab! look out for a freddie interview, most entertaining ( darling) and the BO RAP film is very good, the actors who play Queen are superb. Hope you both well
I saw these guys in 1977....I had their first six albums Queen, Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, Night at The Opera, Day at The Races and News of The World.
The version they do at Milton Keynes 1982 is even better if you can imagine that! The intro is outstanding and will bring tears to your eyes Freddie is so good :)
If this doesn't have you in tears of shear joy and amazement I don't ever want to know you. Thank God I was born in the best country on Earth, with the greatest contributions to music of all!
I LOVE Queen, I was a teenager when they were at their peak but didn't follow them then.....I'm now 60 and am now (as my partner calls me) a Queen fanatic, I just didn't appreciate what legends they are...... apparently my younger sister had a chance to go see them back then but she was only 15 and our mum and dad wouldn't let her go........she's never forgiven them 😂......still brings it up lol xx
It's in my personal lore that my friend's uncle was at that show. Dude was a rocker and was at all the shows. But that night at the Forum was the best show of his life. And he was the guy that made us discover Queen. I don't even remember his name.. but I still remember listening to Queen with my friend 35yrs ago.. good times.
I was fortunate to see Queen during this tour at the Baltimore Civic Center in August of 1980. I was 18 at the time, and I still vividly remember this show. Freddie owned the crowd from the moment he stepped onstage.
Thank you for that reaction, I am really jealous that you are getting to hear Queen's fantastic music for the first time. They have a huge catalogue of music as a band together and also some fantastic albums and songs separately. Please keep up the reactions to Queen, you have some real treats in store!
Interesting facts about this concert, it was filmed over two nights and the band didn’t get along with the production crew because they kept messing around with the band’s equipment and Freddie got really angry with the director Saul Scwimmer and on the second night, during ‘Another One Bites The Dust’, Freddie changed out of his jeans and went onstage barefoot wearing a pair of shorts with a baseball cap and a scarf around his neck, which Brian May dubbed Freddie’s “Rapper’s Gear”, just to mess up the continuity of the film. 😂
After Live Aid this must be their greatest performance, you can appreciate all their talents, playing, singing, the whole performance. Thank you once again you two, love your choice of music. Love to you both.
Live recorded performance might be more correct. I've seen them live on a couple of occasions and both concerts were outstanding, even with different sets.
I was 13 when I first became a Queen fan - I even got a detention at school. It was 1974, I watched them on Top of The Pops, they performed Killer Queen. Freddie was wearing his fingernails painted black on one hand. I painted my fingernails in the same way (detention) 😆"She keeps her Moët et Chandon In her pretty cabinet". You must explore the early Queen years: Seven Seas of Rhye and Killer Queen.
"Electrocuted in the comments section." Every time I come here, something excellent happens. Madame, like a Christas Tree. Great, great video. And may I say, I continue to enjoy your lovely window. It's very complimentary. Like you two!
Although their more famous songs are great, some of their best stuff is songs from their early albums they never even released. Queen I and Queen II are massively underrated albums, especially Queen II. You should really check them out in your own time. March of the Black Queen is up there with Bohemian Rhapsody for me. Seriously, they have so many great songs beyond the ones everyone's heard on the radio.
I saw Queen live in 1977, in Southampton, in The UK, on their, "A Day at the Races" tour (Somebody to Love was the first single from that album). It was the first concert I had ever been to at the tender age of 14, & still ranks as one of the best. Love you guys, love your reactions, love & light from The UK!
It's a beautiful song and performance. If you get a chance (even if not as a reaction), check out the George Michael & Queen - Somebody to love performance, it is beyond amazing and did Freddie proud. George, band, crowd and all! There is a moment when the camera pans to the crowd and it's absolutely awe-inspiring.
@@alanberesford7900 It's absolutely amazing isn't it? I have it in a playlist I often leave on in the background when I'm working on stuff. Such an amazing performance.
@@mozzyquodo5532 the whole show was awesome. The two performances that stood out for me, was the set by Extreme, especially the medley and George Michael. I was there, the dvd / blue Ray do not do the fans justice.
For a Knock Your Socks Off Queen live performance that even Jess may have never heard you really must listen to, or react to "White Queen" live at Odeon, Hammersmith 1975. It is a perfect live performance by every member of the band. There is an instrumental section that lasts around 1 minute and 45 seconds where Freddie and Brian totally smash it ith what seems like a game of chase between the two of them. Freddie's fingers are flying on the keys and Brian's guitar is screaming, crying, wailing and rocking it the hard way. Thank you for your reaction to this great song today. It too is a nearly flawless performance, as flawless as live can possibly be and Queen's energy live is always outstanding.
I’m so happy for you. I lived with the Greatest Hits for quite a big while and then I discovered Queen II on CD. It is insane! Your minds are about be blown! I’ll be with you on this journey! Party on well! I’ll be there. Much love from Sweden! 💙🥂

He just used the top part from then on.
one of the best live performances ever by queen... roger taylors vocals were exceptional
Thanks for the appreciation of Queen! I have loved them for years but it is always great to see other appreciate them. Thanks for the reactions.
Also appreciate the quality of this clip. People think 44 year old video has to crap quality. This is as HD as it gets. 35mm film for the win.
(“Liar”, “Stone Cold Crazy”, etc.)
Fun Fact: Freddie’s Superman tee sold at auction last year for 57,000. USD.
My favourite era of Queen .
"Liar" The Rainbow 1974 is my all time fave from Queen - each member of the band gets the opportunity to shine. Luv it!
The intro is
outstanding and will bring tears to your eyes Freddie is so good :)
If this doesn't have you in tears of shear joy and amazement I don't ever want to know you. Thank God I was born in the best country on Earth, with the greatest contributions to music of all!
Freddie is definitely one of a kind ❤️❤️. I listen to Queen every single day. It’s 16 th of Nov 2024 atm . 👑👑❤️
My favourite Queen song.
Thank god for queen ,an Freddie Mercury ,rip legend 🙏 greatest male vocalist ever ❤
I was there in 1981 in Montreal.What a concert.Freddie was on fire.
I didn't realize this. I thought, Dang he did a quick change there. :)
Another great reaction guys. Freddie was just out of this world.
Queen was the best band EVER. Their versatility is unmatched, and Freddie was a magical being.
The master, the legend, the awesome Freddie Mercury, beautiful ❤️ Roger’s vocals though, wtf, amazing
Freddie beat that piano like it owed him money ^_^
My first concert, at the Forum de Montréal on November 24, 1981... thank you for the memory..
Queen II album is my favorite, a totally different vibe. Live performances from the 70s are amazing.
Early "Queen" their albums "Queen I " and Queen II" are very different and amazing!
Such control over his vocals! He truly was one of a kind!
Then check out Liza Minelli doing We Are The Champions in the same show
This live version with George at Freddie’s tribute concert, is more like the studio album, which has a more gospel style. It is my preferred version.
@@alanberesford7900 I can listen to it over and over again, it never gets old, always amazing to hear
Roger Taylor is the drummer, he has the most amazing eyes!
He’s one of a kind performer he’s the best if you want to see a different side of Freddie Do cool cat from him you gonna love it and see a different side of Freddie love your reaction ❤❤
Freddie will always be missed. Legend!
Here are some must see performances. White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975. Now I’m Here, Under Pressure and Love of My Life live at Wembley 1986. Tie Your Mother Down live at Wembley on 7-12-86. Dragon Attack, Save Me and Another One Bites the Dust live at Montreal. Official video of Who Wants to Live Forever and then watch this live performance in Budapest.
I'm not even a Queen fan particularly but this must be the best live performance ever.
