I got that woodland issued when I went in back in '19. Then we switched back over to the old Nano after basic.
The rumor was, at the time, that Erdoğan gave one of his buddies a contract to make uniforms. And if you know anything about the Erdoğan administration, that's the Occam's razor answer.

Some details on the July 15th coup:
In around 2008-2009, Erdoğan (Allied with Gülen at the time) framed many high ranking Kemalist leaning officers with the help of Gülen. The officers were purged and replaced by Gülenists. (Ergenekon-Balyoz trials) These Gülenist officers were the ones doing the last coup.
Ironically Erdoğan was fearing a coup at the time of 2008 because he was dismantling the "oppressive" secular state and an e-memorandum was released by the Chief of Staff at the time.

He turned a blind eye and/or openly supported the nepotism in the Army in the expense of Kemalist officers who actually cared about the country and it's security. Me and many other people in radio, tv and journalism businesses lost their jobs with no hope to find a proper one thanks to Erdogan's purge of free media in order to replace it with Gulenist counterparts. As a Turk I hated the camo pattern and the design of the uniform throughout my military service. It felt very old fashioned and the neck area of the uniform looked so bad that during photoshoots I used a thermal scarf to disguise it(which is forbidden but not enforced in most areas). While the pants were comfortable and didn't let much cold in, I found that the shirt let so much cold in from the neck area and it had no wool in it which made it impossible stay warm if you were standing post out in the cold.
Looking at the photos that were taken during my service, one couldn't distinguish if I went there during 1970s. The zipper pockets also had around 7-8 cigarette butts from the person who used the uniform formerly, but it was a good lesson for most to not litter and some even had letters written for us from those that did their military service prior to ours(they were washed with the letters still inside but I think the material was of good water resistant quality that nothing inside was wet, while the sleeves of the coat were somewhat soggy!). I believe most of those camos are now going to equip the Somalian soldiers which is the reason some of their commando units can be seen wearing the Turkish camo.

The relationship between Gulen's movement and Erdogan fell apart in 2013, but by then, they had already infiltrated the government and military. Their schools were widespread, to the point where it became difficult to find secular schools in some regions. The most successful students were offered financial support and resources to integrate them into the movement. They were required to attend prayers and undergo indoctrination. The events of 2016 weren't even a coup-it was more of a purge. The movement believed that Kemalists who opposed Erdogan would support the coup, which is why they referenced Ataturk's words. However, the highest-ranking officials had no idea about the coup, and some were even detained by lower-ranking soldiers. After the event, many members of the movement in key positions switched sides. Those involved in politics remain largely untouchable, as prosecuting them would implicate the AKP as well. It's important to remember that both sides, the Gulen movement and AKP, have caused significant harm. The Gulen movement has long been considered a project of the U.S. to create a "green curtain" between Russia and the Greater Middle East, and AKP's power and wealth initially stemmed from U.S. support through Gulen. Hopefully, we will see a brighter future without either of them.
