I went there in March for the first time. It was so fun! I live about 20 minutes away but had never gone since I like going to movie theaters but I will be back again.
Thanks buddy it looked like the storms swept by just south of Screen 2 - we got lucky but it may have had something to do with the fact that Superman was playing on screen 2
I go to that AMC all the time, I really miss it also. I enjoy drive inns except in the middle of summer when it is still 90 after the sun goes down. Have a great weekend Jay, thanks for the great videos.
Always went to drive ins as a kid! My parents took us every weekend in the summer! Loved them! And fell asleep sometimes too! Thanks for bringing back good memories!
THE GOONIES I LOVE IT. AND YES a see it on the premiere here in Stockholm Sweden bak on the 20 December 1985. BUT I am sorry to say we do not have drive-in moves here in Sweden... LOVE it Tampa Jay thanks!
This brings back so many memories. I was born and raised in Lakeland Fl. In the early 1990s my mom would take me to this exact drive in every Friday night or Saturday evening. Those yellow poles used to have the speakers you’d put on your window. Thank you so much for the memories 😍😍😍
Drive Ins will come back now, U watch!!! :) There used to be a Drive In called then Santee Drive In in Santee, California I used to go with my X-wife an her kids! Lots of Fun! :)
I'll take the Drive-In over an indoor AMC type, any night! Some Drive-Ins still use 35mm projectors for some movies. The Skyline Drive-In east of Indianapolis IN still has a 35mm projector they use often for special screamings! :)
@@TampaJay Skyline Drive-In is in Shelbyville, IN. (Southeast of Indy, below hwy 70. It's off hwy 74) Check them out on FB. They are the best I've been to and I've been to several and use to run 8 projectors at an indoor theater. During special events they show vintage 35mm ads and trailers etc. It's the best. Take care! :)
WOW, that brings back so many memories. I have gone to the Silvermoon Drive-In since I was just a kid. The first movie I saw there was Jaws. I'm 51 years old so I don't remember what year it was when I saw that movie at the Silvermoon. The concession stand was awesome and probably still it is. I think the last time I went to the Silvermoon was with a party of probably 30 people. We had all already seen the movie Titanic but we wanted to see it at the drive-in. We had such a good time we took up the whole front row with blankets and chairs, we brought our own food and even acted out some of the parts of the movie. It was such a good time. Thank you for sharing this, I'm going to see what's playing there tonight and probably grab up a couple of friends and go catch a movie under the stars. True story, my parents met at the Haines City Drive-In, my mom and dad we're both still in high school and my mom worked at the Haines City drive-in making pizza. 61 years later they're still together.
Ah woodland square in Oldsmar. My dad lives across the street. We use to see a movie there at least once weekly. Avatar in Dolby, 3D, and IMAX was absolutely stunning. More drive in movie blogs please, Jay. We will check out that silver moon place.
thank you Jay this was awesome and it brought up fond memories of going to the drive-in in my hometown when I was a teenager. It also inspired me to watch Superman and Batman tonight so thank you for helping me decide what to watch. I love your positivity bro. Stay safe and keep up the good work 👍
I totally enjoyed this😁 and am SO jealous, lol. Even though we’re the same age (61) my hubby has no sense of adventure anymore and just acts like an old poop 🤣😂🤣. He won’t go do anything like this. I need a virus safe drive-in bud lol. Thanks for sharing! Oh, and that T-shirt is awesome; I must get one somehow. Maybe online 🤷🏼♀️
We are very lucky and fortunate to have almost 10 drive-in theaters in Florida let’s hope that they come back and the majority of the other states climb aboard. It was a fun night glad I could share it with you thank you for watching
Been there many times my friend but never went to the one in Newcastle when I lived in Shelbyville I currently live near Lakeland but haven't been to the Silver Moon in years u got me wanting to go back soon. Thanks Jay!
That’s awesome man - I found some old pics of me the other day visiting the Shelbyville one room school house which sits in the back of the Shelbyville elementary. Small world - I lived up the road off of State Road nine on 500 south towards new Palestine
That’s awesome - Wish you could’ve made it out last night hope we can all go back there soon. Had a fun time with Jonathan! Thanks for the suggestion :)
i lived in lakeland for years,,thurs nite was car load nite 5 dollars load your car up go watch a movie,,,had a 76 chevy station wagon,,that was bk in 1988,,,happy to see its still open
Very cool and nostalgic Jay. Man, I would love to see Willy Wonka at the drive in. My Dad took me to see it at Funlan or Skyway way back in the dark ages, pre Bucs time, UT still played at the Sombrero and I remember watching it with my sister in the old mans Ford. Man looks like you had an AMAZING time, nice pepperoni pie for 7 bucks and the Goonies is an awesome 80's classic. I forgot Lakeland has a drive in as well as the Joy Lan up in Pasco. I think the Fun Lan is open down by Middleton High and Ruskin has one as well . The daughter went to the Ruskin one with her friends a couple years back when she was still a student at King and she actually enjoyed it and said everything was really inexpensive. Making me want to go to Ruskin or Lakeland one of these evenings. Thanks for sharing the fun man as it brought back good memories of fun times with my Dad when he was still around and my sis. Always a pleasure to watch your videos!
I always enjoyed the fun land used to go there a lot with my friends we are so fortunate and lucky to have all these drive ins near us I look forward to checking out more though hope you’re doing well buddy thank you so much for watching :-)
YUUUS...given that we don't know when theaters will if ever start back up, mine here in Gainesville are temporarily closed, and i have a ticket stub collection going back to the 90's, now i just tape the stub to my calendar, and you should road trip all the drive ins in your area and beyond, pick the best one and see some movies at it, and but a shirt from you experience i'd watch ya do it Mr Tampa!
I liked very much this video, I never be at drive-in, but I think probably is very much cool ! In Brazil I never see this, I think here don’t have drive-in more !
This was great! I really wish they would do this where I live! I would definitely go. That is cool you can actually see 4 movies on the same night. lol Did you watched Josh Gad's reunion show with the cast of the Goonies? I did and it was very good! He also did a Back to the Future one.
if you want an amazing experience, go up to New Jersey and watch "Jaws" in Seaside Heights, NJ.. for their movies on the beach series. It's amazing. The whole crowd is towing in giant sized pizza pies, any food from the boardwalk or wawa.. people bring food from home or microwaved popcorn.. you can bring whatever.. And the crowd over 30 recites the lines by heart! LOL. I need to find out if they do stuff like this since i just moved to Florida. We don't have drive-in's in Jersey anymore..
Never been to that one but I’ve been to the one in Tampa at their drive in - There was a lot of tools out there - Hard to remember though that was years ago
@@TampaJay Ah, ok. Great video too! Goonies is one of my top 5 movies from my childhood. I love that Drive-Ins have been able to breathe a little during this. First drive in movie I saw was The Garbage Pail Kids.
The drive in is a good time and what better movie to watch than The Goonies! I live only 20 minutes away from the second oldest continually operating drive in theater in the World. The LYNN drive in near Strasburg, Oh. Opened in 1937. Probably go there tonight to see The Invisible Man. Fun Goonies fact: Christopher Columbus had originally planned for the movie to be set in the Youngstown , Oh area where he grew up. Oregon was probably a better choice. Lol.
Thank you for the fun and relaxing video 😊👍🏾👍🏾! You captured the atmosphere of the place very well, and the ending of the video was delightful! Also, seeing that yummy peperoni pizza made me hungry 🤤😄 Speaking of pizza, are you going to watch the Pizza Panel Party in honor of the the 30 year anniversary of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles"? The original cast is going to do a table read and other fun stuff tonight 🥳
Wouldn't it ironic if drive-in theatres made a comeback? The Goonies was such a great movie. What do those two movies have in common? One-eyed [Willy] Wonka Very cool, Jay!
Had a fun night at the show! Thank you for watching
Went to Joy Lan last night! Good times! Great way to support a local small business too!
