You can still hear the sound fx from the first men of war upto the latest. They are still stuck on the same engine but just modified a bit.
If it weren’t for mods this game would be dead long ago

@@johnclement189 I recently downloaded the “Red Rising” mod it’s not bad, wish there a was a helicopter script so the helicopter could hover in one place rather than just fly really slow in circles

I’ve never been able to play a match with anyone had this game for almost 4 years and never played a multiplayer match causes the few times I tried it just gives me an error saying I’m missing content don’t the game, I have call to arms but the free version so I can’t get any mods or anything I tried buying the full game and it wouldn’t let me unless I buy a bundle or a dlc for CTA

Used to love that game, still think the core gameplay works super well. The game just never evolved, they just kept releasing the same game with some updated models, yet a lot of the bugs and problems remained. It needs a massive overhaul in terms of polish and feel, then it might become relevant again.
The mods to be good though
A lot of mods were made to fix the game, however the problem of bugs and other shit still remains. To be fair in hella surprised how diplex heated has so many mods yet his game works perfectly, for me if i get 1 mod my entire game breaks
One thing that drives me crazy in this game is how the tanks shoot at first sights and never aim before, they only aim their second shot, but because of their first shot, they get spotted and shelled by the AT guns nearby or the other tank.
The vanilla versions of any MoW have horrible tank gampelay.
Tanks should take the time to aim first.
Most mods I playd correct this, it trully makes the tank battles more realistic and more tactical.
@@happyguardsman8510 mod maker and mod user in MOW:AS 2 here, i must say i only stayed in MOW:AS for the mods, and the mods are awesome and make me have a ton of fun, also making it so i never run out of content. One of the main reasons MOW:Arena is an abomination.
try cta gates of hell, its basically just men of war but got a huge overhall (its made by the same devs as men of war)

Man.. I still have soldiers heroes of ww2 in my storage. I love how it employed tons of details of in how to operate things, including weapon and tanks. There are missions where you have mighty tiger but with almost no fuel. Other campaign where you wreak havoc using katyusha on the train is also super fun. With so much controllable stuff, we have so many creative ways to complete the mission. You can play stealthly, doing rambo or even something out of the box
Men of War: Vietnam was like a Demon Souls version of the series. Was lots of fun, but save button was my all time favorite.

Men of War: Vietnam is actually part of the "Silent Heroes" series, which was a collection of overdone missions for Soldiers: Heroes of World War II

@@Firewordien there is even RobZ Realism mod which is quite realistic in range but not accuracy. Still my favourite is MoW HoWW2. The rest is all derpy and unrealistic damages and water gun speeds.
Soldiers heroes of world war 2 is honestly my favourite out of this franchise. It just flowed much better and felt more realistic despite its age and engine limitations
Men of war series is wonderful...I can still remember how much fun when I was playing Soldiers heroes of World War II for the first time as a 7 years old kid...although Soldiers heroes of WWII has been released for more than a decade, I still have it on stream and sometimes play it...it is a game that never gets me bored!
Sergio Messi, I agree. I played the demo back then when I was a student and was completely hooked. People even created mods for the demo as it was so popular lol. Just FYI if you don't know, have a look at the Mod DB page, they have so many great mods out there, some even in the length of an expansion pack.
Don't you guys feel the rest of the series got derpy and sluggish movements and bullet speeds? After being hooked to MoW HoWW2 and Silent Heroes' mechanics I couldn't play other modern series.

It's literally the same engine as Soldier stretch to 2020. Any studios would make a new engine and add new possibilities.

@@hibahprice6887 better ai, more realistic gameplay (instead of infantry getting hit by rifles 5 times until they fall unconscious), a high chance that soldiers won't be revivable when shot (instead of always being able to revive basically everyone), units having specific specialities (instead of literally every soldier being able to become everything as long as you find the loot). The list goes on.
I could play the first MOW and not know whether I was playing the first one or the newest one...
Not for russians cuz faces of war brothers of arms for us just behind the enemy line 2 and men of war for us behind the enemy line 2 brothers of arms.
I dont know how such a great game can get undermined by other strategy games

I remember Faces of War, one of the best RTS mechanics even by today's standards.
The missions were very, very interesting and fun to play.
The AI is incredibly stupid though. Sometimes even if you take control, things get out of hand.

instead of making same game for 20 years they could have gone wild and make a steam punk game or alternate history game - new iron harvest 10 years before iron harvest was even announced, or warhammer 40000 game ? there is wh mode for men of war and it looks absolutly insane.

@@happyguardsman8510 and that is because they quite literally sat on their asses and thought reselling the same game over and over again with slight updates was enough, until they blew all their money. And now they can't really change anything because they lack the money. But even if you'd give them the money they'd only be happy about the money and not change much anyways.
Even the voice lines are the same from the very first to the very last game lol.
The only reason their games still get played is that modders make the games better.
yea it is weird, the platform has so much potential but they just seem to dick around remaking the lighting or giving it to a developer who spends 6 months making a single new gun. Its such a versatile platform especially with the modular vehicle mechanics too, it could really cover any modern or future warfare setting

I think what make this game special is because of it's gaming mechanism. Comparing to the COH, their units (tank, vehicle, infantry) rely completely on HP while MOW only their infantries. MOW can let players set up group from various units, while COH already set up group of units from the game itself (infantry) and individual tanks and vehicles. Also MOW relies on realism aspect where all units could ran out of ammo, medkits, and need repair tools for repairing. Not to mention, it's infantry defense mechanism where they can take cover in objects like trench, bushes, walls, etc. This game is detailed, specific, and immersive RTS imho, i still playing this game until now, especially MOWAS2. I hope the developers create the 3rd one like COH3 that have been release its preview earlier. And of course i hope if they release the new ones, they enhance the graphics and physics. Because i've seen the recent games like call to arms seemed to not so different comparing to the previous games, only differs in units.

Learn how to mod it and AS2 can be made utterly beautiful. I've been modding mine for years, with emphasis on the aesthetics and no icons. It's like Lego and toy army men that I played with as a child. The flexibility of the engine means astonishingly atmospheric aesthetics are possible. I'm just worried that I'll not be able to port my five-year-old AS2 into Gates of Hell, and visa versa. The only thing I cannot replicate from MOW is the screen shake on explosion detonation, otherwise it's perfect.
Do you have any ideas how to fix the lag at the end of the game? Like it very smooth at first but as game progress, it likes 20 fps on my 2060s
why did they ever think men of war arena would be a good idea, the entire franchise is built on mods and you release a game that's unmoddable and free to play

Faces of War: Brothers in Arms must've been released only in Russia because I remember that mission in base FoW game, I think it was Lublin. Besides I've read somewhere that this one has more storyline missions for Soviets and some of them reappeared in Men of War.
Men of War AS2 with RobzRealism is the best ever.

Basically only changes is HUD and textures. Also they added more soup and bloom to stop making textures and models better.
Showw2 is still my favourite and best game. I wish they just made a skirmish ai mode for it

Soldiers Heroes of WW2 was freaking amazing for me, it was amazing strategy games with good missions.. and thath sweet sountracks :3. Men of War is classic, amazin campain too. Hpe for Men of war 2 will be good :D

I hate it when a tank track is broken! Even a Veteran Tiger become towed PaK in the middle of the map lol.
Totally realistic. Amazing that the tracks don't break randomly whenever the vehicle turns over some rocks, which is something that happens painfully frequently with real tracked vehicles (especially older ones like these)

I loved faces of war. I was a cod nerd so ww2 based games were something I loved when I was a kid. Learned a lot about history too way more about ww2 from the games than school taught me

The last solid release was 7 years ago, with Men of War: Assault Squad 2.
To be honest there never was a significant change after Faces of War concerning graphics and SP. For years I only played Soldiers Heroes of WW2 and Faces of War because that's what kept me going with dozens of mods. I never cared about the HD models of the later games because there is literally no point in zooming in that much in a STRATEGY game. They tried to justify the HD textures and stuff with the FPS mode but seriously, where's the point? Just play ArmA if you want close-up action.
And yet, the newer games retain the same clunkyness that's existed since Heroes of WW2. I mean, it WAS revolutionary when it came out. But seriously, they should have come up with a new engine years ago.

Long time ago I seen alpha build of Soldiers Heroes of World War II, I can't find it anymore but it simply was much worse graphics something like first sudden strikes, with no direct control. I wish I could find it and see more of this.

Digitalmindsoft the other producer of men of war series released not so long ago Gates of Hell. Its a DLC to their other game Call to Arms. CTA is basically fixed and overhauled version of MOWAS2 Cold War. Cold War was very unstsble and glitchy so they decided to make fixed version.
Sound FX for CTA and GOH are new, graphics polished more, simillar to Cold War ones. They use the same engine like Men of War but with better graphics
