I met an old Polish man once, in the operating theatre of the spinal unit of the hospital i worked in. He had a number crudely tattooed into his forearm. He had marched from Auschwitz to Germany, barefoot in the winter of 1944-45 as a young boy. He lost both of his feet to frostbite. He was the jolliest soul you could hope to meet. Love emanated from his every fibre.

Monsters will always exist. But when I look at that, when I look at documentaries and reports like that, it always brings tears to my eyes and I'm disgusted with Germany. Even as a German and even though I know that Germany was in a desperate situation at that time.... Nobody has the right to treat others like that.

At the same time, the non-Jewish pharmacist, who worked in the center of what became the Ghetto (not in the center of Krakow, but on the relatively new neighborhood of Podgorze, which exists on the other side of the river), stayed with his Jewish clients and helped them. Your comment is off base even if some of that is true. Schindler's jews themselves have testified to how he actually cared a lot about them. The little girl in the movie who kissed him at his birthday was a real person, whom he had approached on the train when she first arrived at the camp. She was very sick and lying on the floor of the train, arms covered in puss, and he went in with his fancy clothes, feather on his hat, picked her up and said, "Don't worry, my angel, you will live," and carried her out of the train. He then would take his sandwhiches that were made by his wife to her so she would recover. On his birthday, he gave half a loaf of bread to every family in the camp. He also went to prison for the little girl kiss at the birthday, because she was a jew kissing him. Finally, a man actually did donate his gold teeth bridge so they could make him a ring. The survivors testified that no one died at his camp.

Then in a panic we rushed about looking for the grave, then I recalled it was covered in stones, and climbed to a high point and saw it, we rushed towards the location and I grabbed his camera as he paid his respects, so he had the pictures of this moment to share with

I can't understand how anyone can deny the holocaust happened? I'm Scottish and not of any religion, both my parents fought during the WW2 dad in the Royal Navy partaking amongst other duties in the Atlantic Convoys and was at "the taking of Rangoon" against the Japanese who'd invaded Burma. My mum lined up predictors to shoot down German aircraft invading Britain. Neither knew about the holocaust until after the war was over and both were horrified by what they saw on the news reels showing the liberation from the concentration camps. My parent went on to have 4 children, my 3 much older brothers and myself the baby girl by 7 years to the youngest brother. My father thought it important that we grew up knowing about the horrors of war and the concentration camps. I recall being about 7 or 8 and on Sunday's the BBC would show "The World at War" one I remember stood out more than some of the others was the Nuremberg Trials. One of my first trips abroad from Scotland was to Munich, there I found out from other travellers that one could visit Dachau Concentration camp. My camera had a roll of coloured film 35mm and I'd used about 10 pictures on it, but all the pictures I took in Dachau came out overcast and hazy/misty even though it was a beautiful sunny day with no clouds in the sky. I also took photo's outside the camp and when developed as I said the ones inside grey/misty/hazy and outside this place of evil bright clear sunny, the settings hadn't been altered and it was spooky. Going round the exhibition seeing ceiling to floor photo's of women and small children being lead by a nazi soldier towards a mass grave where they were obviously going to be shoot was an awful thing to witness, there were implements of torture on display and at the end an explanation about why the camps are still there- To prevent man's inhumanity to man from ever happening again. I also saw the ovens one could still see the grey clinging to the walls and oven floor from use of these ovens. I also recall not hearing any bird song whilst in this place of evil.

I just googled "Schindler's List" the novel by Australian author Thomas Keneally upon which the movie is based. There are many articles stating that the book was based on REAL EVENTS AND PEOPLE. According to the author, it is listed as a fiction novel because he used "fiction techiques" such as character development and invented dialogue to make the story read like a novel, just as "The Right Stuff" by Tom Wolfe is FICTION BASED ON REAL EVENTS of. NASA's Mercury project.
Do not worry about the deniers, they either cannot read or most likely are just trying to spread lies and misinformation. I consider them accessories after the fact in the Nazi crimes of torture and genocide, because they are anti-semitic, or express approval for the crimes while denying them, or they try to make excuses by citing the 60 millions killed under Stalin. They are not worth wasting precious time to argue with them, they will not see reason and do not care about the truth.

While it is true that some cared for the Jews during the genocide, we cannot say that it is unfair for her, a survivor of the Holocaust, to say that no one cared for them at the time. At that moment, it actually seemed that no one did care to help them and save them as they were surrounded with atrocities; it was what she felt at that moment until Oskar Schindler came in the picture. Looking back, there were a few who tried to help these Jews but before they were saved, everything and everyone around them was against them.

@@Skies133 Antisemitism was rampant throughout Europe by the time Hitler came to power. The Jewish people have long been accused of cultural invasion in whatever nations they occupied. Then, after WWI the victors brutally punished Germany for their active involvement in the war. Their military was disbanded, they weren’t allowed to manufacture war materials, and were burdened with crushing repatriations. Their economy was destroyed, their currency was made almost worthless (a single loaf of bread required a literal wheelbarrow full of paper bills to pay for), and they were angry and resentful. Adolf Hitler, with the help of many supporters, came to power promising to fix everything unilaterally. His friend, Joseph Goebbels, put out a steady stream of well written propaganda extolling the importance of Aryan supremacy, and labeling Jews as the lowest form of trash who were secretly plotting to take over the world. In anger and desperation, and after hearing Joseph Goebbels’ puff pieces, they eventually came to believe it all.

I'm not comparing the current political climate to WW2 but I think it is very important to hear these words. It's easy to find yourself somewhat jaded and apathetic. The disconnect between the atrocities of the holocaust and our daily lives and routines is vast. Dismissal and a brief couple of chapters taught in school are not enough. America does things now that would astound the majority of the population if they took the time to look into the various conflicts we insert ourselves into. Willful ignorance, behind a comforting curtain. Once again I'm not comparing these 2 time periods to each other. I just find it disturbing how comfortable people are with just assuming that the government has the best interests of the people in mind. The majority of the German people as a whole didn't know the full extent of what was happening (although many had an idea) and they had that same confidence in the nazi hierarchy. The evidence is always there, and failing to put it together is a bullshit excuse for ignoring the victims suffering. Complicity, guilt by association, by omission. It's easy to ignore the unpleasant things and put them in the back of your mind. Moral cowardice and unwillingness to keep the leadership in check always leads to a horrible conclusion. The most horrible things are sometimes done with the best of intentions.

think about about it this way … you are 1 human being so unique, magnificent, loving, with your own personality and relationships and way of thinking
Now multiply that to x1100 … it’s not little amount of people, this man saved generations of jews
also he had to pay for each and every single jew … this man threw away his entire fortune … to todays equivalent of 10’s of millions of dollars
it’s no chump change and at a time like that … this man was an angel … he sacrificed everything

Read about the Talmud and what it says about non Jews. Look up the Transfer Agreement. We've been lied to. Even Jesus called them the synagogue of satan. Do you research.

    • @dudepersonvids
      @dudepersonvids 6 лет назад +3

I did my research, and here's what I found. Jesus did not call Jews "the synagogue of satan."
You seem to be talking about Revelation 2:9 :
“‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander[a] of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
As it turns out, this is actually a criticism of the church at Smyrna, where some people claimed to be "Jews" but only outwardly and not inwardly. Basically, he was saying that some of the people there were only going through the motions of being Jews/faithful/worshipping God, and so those people were not truly "Jews" or believers in God.
This was not a condemnation of Jews on the whole, or as separate from Christianity, only some specific people at Smyrna who didn't have God in their hearts.
Here are three separate interpretations of Revelation 2:9 that explain that Jesus is not equating Jews as a religion/race with evil.

From the third source in my previous comment (bradkelly.wordpress.com/2009/06/10/who-is-a-true-jew-revelation-29-39/)
If you heard someone say, “he says he is a professional baseball player, but he is not,” what could you safely assume? I believe you could safely assume two things: 1. There really is such a thing as a professional baseball player: such a person actually exists. 2. The person making the claim is not truly a professional baseball player.
So returning to the text we can safely assume two things: 1. There really is such a group as Jews: true Jews. 2. Those making the claim to be Jewish are not truly Jews.

Just before Germany invaded Poland there were around 800000 German refugees who had lived in and around the boarder of Poland and Germany. These civilians fled their homes because of increasing Polish violence against them. I can see why Rena would have had "problems with the [German] bystanders" after her countrymen had treated so many innocent Germans as "sub human".
