The BBC had 104 complaints about this sketch - which proves how funny it is. Had me in absolute hysterics - shame the rest of the episode wasn't as daring. Did enjoy the american tourists though. Will be watching again next week! Welcome home Harry!
I remember watching Laurel and Hardy when I was growing up in the 60s', we only had black and white then. I thought I had seen all of their episodes, can't remember this one, must have slipped through the crack!
My god I remember watching this with my stepdad, and we'd watched Laurel and Hardy for years, and it was the most uncomfortable 2 and a half minutes of my life :)
The bit after “oh the wives!” made me laugh so much. It’s obviously a deliberately profane sketch placing two beloved icons in an extraordinarily outrageous position. It’s absurd and very funny.
I love the outrage on here. Hopefully every time you watch your beloved L&H from now on, the mental image of Ollie being stuck in Stan will pop into your head.
it's based on Laurel and Hardy movie "Their First Mistake", Oliver: She says I think more of you than I do of her. Stanley: Well you do, don't you? Oliver: Well, we won't go into that.
thanks for posting. this was all people talked about in the office on Monday. Brilliant - couldn't believe they'd dared broadcast it! Ignore the people with a broken off switch.
Brilliant and well done! You have hit on the essence of Laurel and Hardy's humor. It was always homoerotic in that they were usually in some domestic situation, often in bed, albeit fully clothed. Hardy's "wife" was always complaining about the time he spent with Laurel. In those days, it was funny; nowadays, it's political.
I find it disappointing that the militant L&H fans in this comments section seem to exhibit such scant regard for the nature of comedy. This is not meant as a mockery of L&H. No, it's not an accurate imitation of their style in many ways. It's not meant to be. It doesn't have to be. It's just an amusing idea. It's just comedy.
Yeah. It’s quite clearly an absurd idea of what if L&H did broke back mountain. Why they’d do a comedy version with some slapstick humour. But it’s 2010-29 which is the age of the collective lobotomy of mankind. No subject is sacrosanct. Any public figure is a fit subject for mockery.
Love this sketch -- very funny in itself and it gives a proper taking down to a rather over-inflated movie. And it doesn't besmirch L&H in the slightest . . .
Jesus and I thought my channel got naughty with the Laurel and Hardy gay jokes. I Don't even go that far😂😂😂 hilarious sketch. I'm glad other fans within the fandom have thick skin to this and can see how you can pull things out of their humor. A picture tells a thousand words, so imagine a lifetime of movies where all two men did was sleep in bed with one another and fail at female relationships and then usually end up with each other.
i'm all for pushing boundaries but this is so shit it defies belief. if you're going to send someone up, the idea is to be funnier than them, not less. a cheap shot.
This is far from being the best harry and paul sketch. However I don't think they made this sketch to humiliate laurel and hardy - they were just making parody of it, that's all. It is relatively funny compared to some of the stuff that you find on BBC three nowadays that's for sure.
That was Hilarious! Especially when Ollie got stuck inside Stan. That was so Very Very Wrong! Always love a good sick twisted Comedy. Perversions always make for Great Humor.
And I agree with a poster who said the BBC will not show L&H because of "non-pc" scenes and themes. Their willingness to show this against them truly stinks, and reveals their hypocrisies. How non-pc and offensive can you get?
I can appreciate that some people find this disrespectful to two comedians whose work will live on long after Enfield has been forgotten. Indeed, I find it a bit unpleasant myself. However, the main point here is this: that sketch simply isn't funny. Harry Enfield used to be excellent. Now I think he's washed up and, in my opinion, this clip confirms that.
Absolutely ! I am as outraged with this sketch as you are, it confounds me that you are the only one pointing put the obvious tastelessness of the ill chosen hat! Makes one wonder if everyone is distracted by something else ! We must make more of a fuss about this, a group letter I think is the least we can do … who else is with us !
whitehouse & enfield scraping the barrel! how can this shit get on tv nevermind youtube? there will be a time when they'll be forgotten but stan and ollie? NEVER!!
This is funny for the wrong reasons. It should be funny for Brokeback Mountain as the main p1ss take rather than for L&H. I know Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse do spoofs and parodies of many a shows, but they shouldn't bring sexual agendas into innocent comedy situations. Saying that,I am a fan of both and know times have moved on as have tastes and PC Some people like close to the bone stuff(pardon the pun)😆
i dont know why so many of you are slating this clip!! agreed, it is a bad piss take out of 2 excellent comedians but it is still a good laugh. so there
@jiledenie04 No, I don't think it's calling L and H homosexual at all. It's a spoof and showing what Brokeback Mountain would have been like if L and H had played the leads!
I just can't fathom how anybody with a sense of humour can find this funny. I admit that my opinion may be linked to my deep love for the work of the late Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy, but nonetheless the hat joke was the only thing that even bordered on slightly funny. I viewed past comments and almost spat at the computer screen whenever I saw a comment saying that this is hilarious. Laurel and Hardy were innocent geniuses; their memory should not be pissed on like this.
COMMENT 3 The real crime is the piss-poor impersonations these guys pull off. Stan doesn't just smile blandly. Ollie doesn't just look cross. L&H were two of the most gifted performers. Paul & Harry show themselves to be terribly lazy. It's not that Paul and Harry sully the good names of Laurel and Hardy by pretending they had sex together - it's their offensively weak stabs at emulating them. Shame.
Well, I liked it :) I've always like Both Harry and Pauls stuff.... some of this show misses with me though but given time I'm sure the parts I don't like will grow on me. Arf, mersey, when you first saw the muppets did you shout "OMG not real people!"? lol, it's harry enfield and paul whitehouse. We all know that :P
I'm making the point that Stan Laurel came from 'shitty little Britain' as you put it. It's humorous on various levels. Comparing the sanitised pap turned out by modern. Hollywood to the innocence of Laurel and Hardy. Poking fun at the fact that they used to share a bed and it's making some of you feel uncomfortable about homosexuality. I'm sure in the 1930's people objected to Stan Laurel dressing as a woman and his knickers falling down or the scene where they get the wife of the judge drunk.
I can't believe how many L+H fanboys and girls there are in this comment section! Laurel and Hardy is one of the most unfunny, slapstick, inane, naïve comedy shows this world has ever seen
@watson800-i hope you are not talking to me, because I never said anything about gays. I love Laurel and Hardy, and I thought Brokeback mountain was a well made film, but if you combine the two, I'm sorry but that's just dumb. No gay bashing here, this skit is just a bad joke and I'm bashing that.
I don't think comedy can or should be restricted by notions of 'respect'. However, I fail to see how this is 'classic' - it is quite unfunny. Neither gay nor straight sex is funny in abstract, so Enfield must have an immature mindset to think it so.
In the movie Stan & Ollie (2018) the very first thing they establish is that they were both straight. (Stan wanted to know if the party Ollie was going to would have any WOMEN?) I thought it was overdone, but there you are.
As much as I like Paul whitehouse, He and Harry Enfield aren't fit to wipe the Boots of Laurel and Hardy. Will their Comedy last into the next century? I don't think so.
Their comedy did last in to the next century. they started in the 20th century just as laurel and hardy did, their stuff is still watched by millions just as laurel and hardy are.
COMMENT 2 It's not that L&H having a homosexual relationship is offensive. It's just done in a very bland and pointless way. Like a lot of BBC comedy at the moment it's underwritten (The witless repetition of The Catherine Tate Show springs to mind - "Ooh is she going to say 'Am I bovvered?' - oh yes, there it is. How clever"). Some of Stan and Ollie's great moments were verbal, but the writers decide that faux-silent worked best - because it's easier.
Perhaps it would help if you used capital letters for the name of a TV programme? Or, failing that, make it clear you are referring to a TV show. I'm not a mind reader ;)
No shit, Sherlock! When you get up in the morning I suggest you do a 'reality check'. Try reading the video descriptions and tags... And it's a 'parody'. Look it up in your school dictionary.
That "POP" when he pulls out 😅😅
The BBC had 104 complaints about this sketch - which proves how funny it is. Had me in absolute hysterics - shame the rest of the episode wasn't as daring. Did enjoy the american tourists though. Will be watching again next week! Welcome home Harry!
Never seen this sketch before, so funny!!! As for the American tourists sketch .."Isn't she probably pretty.....WHAT A GUY!!!!!!!" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The complaints were justified. It was awful rubbish.
Ha ha ha!!
If it was that uncomfortable, I guess there wasn’t enough lube....... 😂 😂 😂
Insulting the word
😅😅😅
😂
"Is he a Quare?"
The bit after “oh the wives!” made me laugh so much. It’s obviously a deliberately profane sketch placing two beloved icons in an extraordinarily outrageous position. It’s absurd and very funny.
I love the outrage on here. Hopefully every time you watch your beloved L&H from now on, the mental image of Ollie being stuck in Stan will pop into your head.
should have finished with ... "STANLY : now that's another fine mess I've gotten into you !"
Oh god the pooping sound😂😂😂
Popping sound you mean yes?
Popping and quite probably pooping.
Hopefully not while Ollie's still up Stan! Unless they're into that - in which case, fair play to 'em.
Can't believe I've never seen this before - Hilarious!
it's based on Laurel and Hardy movie "Their First Mistake",
Oliver: She says I think more of you than I do of her. Stanley: Well you do, don't you? Oliver: Well, we won't go into that.
"That's another fine mess I've shot up you!"
thanks for posting. this was all people talked about in the office on Monday.
That another fine mess you got me in😂
It's pure genius....
Perfect observation and replication of L and H. After all they only had each other !
Still better than the actual movie!
That was Superb! Great to see this type of humour displayed as intended for once.GENIUS!
🤣 Laughed so much tears 😭 streaming down my face.
I wonder if people will be watching Harry Enfield in a 100 years time!!!!!!!!!!!
At the present rate our offspring will all be in mosques then.
Nah. Most likely TV would have been replaced by something else then.
^this.
Plus Harry's facial expressions are more akin to James FInlayson's behaviour.
I would use the word “geriatric” rather than “militant”.
It’s just just funny a feck!!!😝
I love L & H, this made me laugh so much I dropped my cup of coffee!
THEN YOU MUST BE SICK IN YOUR MIND
@@davids8449 Oh I am, deliciously so!! LOL! What an angry little bunny you are today. Did you enjoy the video, too?
brilliant :D Cacked myself when I saw this last night!
I'd rather watch the wives! Lol.
Funniest video I've seen for some time - excellent
Love this sketch. They get L&H down perfectly, and it's takes a bit of the methane out of an overinflated movie . . .
Absolutely urine funny! I rate this beyond funny! It's awesome.
Love this sketch -- very funny in itself and it gives a proper taking down to a rather over-inflated movie. And it doesn't besmirch L&H in the slightest . . .
Y'know Ollie, I've been watchin' you! And I know you been watchin' me! You're watchin' me, I know! Ollie my friend, how would you...
Haha Eddie Murphy- delirious reference...nice
Really thought the wives would have come out blasting shotguns for extra L&H authenticity!
Well thats another fine mess you've gotten me into Stanley.
That's another fine mess you've gotten into me Oliver.
Honestly, I'm just happy I saw Harry & Paul kiss. It's about time! 😂❤❤
Jesus and I thought my channel got naughty with the Laurel and Hardy gay jokes. I Don't even go that far😂😂😂 hilarious sketch. This is something that probably seemed quite funny on paper, but that is excruciating to watch as live action.
The 113 dislikes are probably quares.
Hilarious funny.!!
i'm all for pushing boundaries but this is so shit it defies belief. if you're going to send someone up, the idea is to be funnier than them, not less. a cheap shot.

I wonder what the real Laurel and Hardy would have made of this.
Priceless!
I can appreciate that some people find this disrespectful to two comedians whose work will live on long after Enfield has been forgotten. Indeed, I find it a bit unpleasant myself.

Harry Enfield used to be excellent. Now I think he's washed up and, in my opinion, this clip confirms that.
OMFG! Is nothing sacred??? LOL!
This is perfect to watch doing pride month
My only complaint is that Stan's hat is all wrong. Couldn't they find a genuine bowler is all of Britain?
Absolutely ! I am as outraged with this sketch as you are, it confounds me that you are the only one pointing put the obvious tastelessness of the ill chosen hat! Makes one wonder if everyone is distracted by something else ! We must make more of a fuss about this, a group letter I think is the least we can do … who else is with us !
Genious
Not their best work I feel. Imagine trying to make this today in 2021. No chance.
whitehouse & enfield scraping the barrel! how can this shit get on tv nevermind youtube? there will be a time when they'll be forgotten but stan and ollie? NEVER!!
p.c. or not, this was actually funny
2:10 LMFAO!!!
B4 you had the Colt Revolver, you had the rolling pin. Lethal.
And it was on the BBC! Nuff said.
I feel So guilty for laughing at this, but....😔😐🙄😌🙂☺😀😄😁😆😅🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Suddenly I felt sick.
@Kingdragyn18 Its just comedy and anyway, its funny
This is funny for the wrong reasons.

loooooooooool!!!!!!
Laurel and Hardy only Tip-toed around homosexuality, these Dudes go ' Straight 'for the Jugular.
Colin Swain The jugular ain't where Ollie is straightaway putting his dingus !!
Hate to tell you but Stan Laurel was British ;)
I agree with all you guys.
This just pissed me off as I was watching it.
Utter shit.
i dont know why so many of you are slating this clip!!
agreed, it is a bad piss take out of 2 excellent comedians but it is still a good laugh.
so there
I see you've mastered sarcasm at least. You're too clever for me!

What a droll comment. No-one's ever said such a witty thing before. Well done. Now go back to your chair and have a little nap.

CHEAP DIRTY LAUGH THAT DOES NOT WORK
It seems the fine art of being funny without being crass was lost with the death of comics such as these.
Shut up bitch. Laurel and Hardy is about as funny as bone cancer...
Do you know the owl house , did the same sex kiss about a decade after this
As much as I like Paul whitehouse, He and Harry Enfield aren't fit to wipe the Boots of Laurel and Hardy. Will their Comedy last into the next century? I don't think so.

Oh lighten up, it just a laugh. I also loved Laurel and Hardy.
@watson800 hey, don't worry about it I wasn't mad, I was just like...okay? Haha no problems here! But thanks for replying your awesome.
Words fail me

Extremely sick minds thought of this. But there again the BBC is very sick
No shit, Sherlock! When you get up in the morning I suggest you do a 'reality check'.

I love Laurel and Hardy and am a huge fan of Harry and Paul, but I can't see what they're trying to do here. Doesn't work on any level.
Never heard of "parody" then?
The worrying thing is that SOMEONE at the BBC must think this is funny.
Absolutely.
It's just desecration.
Sad.
it could happen.....
