This song is fucking awesome. I am a fan of smashing pumpkins and i was happy to see it in a watchmen trailer. I might get the watchmen comic book soon.
This is one of the best and most atmospheric songs I have heard in a movie trailer. It really does the movie credit. I just had to listen to the whole version.
ok i have been reading all these comments and i have decided that kreanth is right it is not the words that hold the hate it is the PEOPLE. the world has fallen into despare in the past years with all the fighting gore swearin.
im 14 yrs old, and i read watchmen and loved it. its one of the greatest graphic novels of all time, and it cant be beaten. wat i loved about it was that the characters had realistic stories, like rosharch, who grew up a life of torture. dr. manhattan who loved to fix watches was told by his father that the atom is the future or something like that. but if ur going to read this i recomend it to be read twice.
i pride myself on being a huge smashing pumpkins fan (i have 25 hours worth of their songs on my hard drive) but i never heard this version of the song untill the watchmen trailer. I'm not too fond of any of the previous adaptations of moore's work but using this hidden pumpkins gem has already won me over.
it will disappoint me. Watchmen is a true masterpiece. Schneyder will do a mess. i'm sure. and that s why probably i m not goin to watch it. i keep it perfectly in the way it must be: PAPER! great song, no doubts!!
ok i spoiled a comic that came out in the 80s id think most of ya have read the book before comin to the smashing pumpkings song...ITS STILL A FUCKING AWESOME GRAPHIC NOVEL
first off teh movie is pushing 3 hours in its first cut and they are doing a background dvd that is supposed to released in march or may and also the are doing the comic that is in it in its own movie so ya they are going to be going in to much intricate film than some crap 2 hour film you believe it is going to be.
you know whats pretty amazing he never deleted the comment.... thats pathetic... of that guy... if he says then do it! by the way nice way to tick people off. NICE WORK!!!!!
I read somewhere that they used the comic book as the actual story board for the movie. So it has the potential of being exactly like the book, and thus amazing. I hope!
While I somewhat agree that Watchmen shouldn't be made into a movie after reading it, I'm glad it is being made into a movie. The only reason I read it is because the movie is coming out, and I think the movie is helping Watchmen become even more popular which can't be a bad thing. It's going to be like Fight Club, great movie, great book, but not the same (and Fight Club was at parts word for word from the book).
You're wrong. It was on the "Batman & Robin" soundtrack back in '97. I know, I had bought the CD. And back then I thought it was better than the origional version.
Technically by a psychologist's diagnosis, Batman would be pretty mentally unhealthy as well. Although their are moral limits Batman places on himself, Rorschach has none. Still, since violence is violence (regardless of what degree it goes), both men would probably be treated pretty similarly.
Wow i'll admit i only heard this song on the watchmean trailor but omg its one of the most amazing songs ive ever heard the song alone made me want to go see watchmen :L love it x
people are younger and younger when they are learning things that i thinks that should not even be on the earth, things such as racism swearing fighting and flat out arguing it is painful to know that our age is coming to a painful end right before our very eyes and no one is doing anyhting about it! im sorry but something needs to be done the world needs to change and the people in it need to change the ways they have created over the years.
search for smashing pumpkins and it should be in the "top songs" box. That or click on the b-sides or rarities album and scroll down to something like track number 95
This song and the watchmen trailer used to HAUNT me every night as a kid, I used to always wonder what the fuck that movie was and when I got a little older I read the comic and realized that this was a movie of it, still remember the trailer to this day, it was the first reveal trailer where it was just dr Manhattan rising the clock tower from Mars, I used to always think about that.😂😂
The current plan is to release Tales from the Black Freighter and Under the Hood as a DVD, then combine Black Freighter on an "ultimate edition" DVD for a staggering four-five hour epic.
To put it in broad terms, it's sort of like an anti-comic. It poses the question what if super heroes (one of whom actually has super powers) existed, but in an otherwise realistic world. The US wins Vietnam (which in part is why Nixon is still president in '85), but comes closer to nuclear war with the Soviets. The typical moral dichotomy of classic comics is replaced with ambiguity. Very noir. I highly suggest the graphic novel.
I take it that Smashing Pumpkins have two similar songs: "The Beginning is the End is the Beginning," AND "The End is the Beginning is the End." ...? Can anyone explain their background? It looks like the first one is used in the Watchmen trailer. Thanks!
will it actually be in the movie? It seems to me - it won't. I've seen an interview somewhere, where they said the remix was used ONLY for the trailer. In fact there's another trailer with a whole different tune.
My younger brother did a lot of the mo-cap for WM last year. He said exactly the same thing when I went to visit him in Culver City. "This is the sickest show I've ever worked on..." haha CANT WAIT!!!
Words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the annunciation of truth.
This is definitely the best song for watchmen. couldn't think of a better one.
I remember when this was on the Batman and Robin soundtrack. Now Watchmen has it, awesome.
The smiley is from Watchmen graphic novel. This song is used in several "Watchmen" trailers for the film adaptation.
i'm glad they used this song. that way the nightmares from batman and robin can go away lol
the sound track for 2020!
It's been 16 years. God damn it.
Probably. I'm glad they used not as well known actors for this movie. I think it can make movies better.
Acually because of this song I might go see the movie- made me read about it and it doesnt look like it has a bad story at all.
good song. Watchmen better be good because I'm going to be waiting for it.
they need to put this in stores. it would sell out very fast.
The greatest thing to come out of Batman And Robin
And to think, this song has been co-owned by DC comics movies division since something like 96.
Watchmen IS GONNA ROCK!!!!!!!!!
this is one bad ass song.
Agreed.
thanks for this vid
This song is fucking awesome. I am a fan of smashing pumpkins and i was happy to see it in a watchmen trailer. I might get the watchmen comic book soon.
Wow never listened to smashing pumpkins b4 but this song is pretty badass
what a great song to choose for the trailer, perfectly matched
wow amazing song!
The World Will Look Up And Say "SAVE US!" And I Will Whisper "No"
Yeah this one is going to be in the movie, remix of the original. Watch the trailer you'll notice this song.
It may not be. But as long as it's a good movie - it should be good enough. After all it's a movie.
I used to listen to this all the time in seventh grade. Awsome song.
I loved Watchmen, Rorschach is my favourite character and I love his mask, it's really cool.
I can't wait, too *O*
My new funeral song
THANKS
the movie will be amazing. shall topple everything to ever be shown in a theater
This is one of the best and most atmospheric songs I have heard in a movie trailer. It really does the movie credit. I just had to listen to the whole version.
they couldn't have picked a better song for the watchmen trailer, if you look at the lyrics it fits perfectly.
I fuckin love how dark it is
What a dark song...
What I like is that Dr manhattan is all-powerful, but his apathy is his only weakness...brilliant.
IS IT DARK IN MY NUTS? YES
This song is absolutely amazing, not to mention perfect for Watchmen.
ok i have been reading all these comments and i have decided that kreanth is right it is not the words that hold the hate it is the PEOPLE. the world has fallen into despare in the past years with all the fighting gore swearin.

Kyle Dalton
I can’t believe the movie is 10 years ago. I feel so old
this sounds so much better though..
i tinhk thats actually the perfect reason.
i pride myself on being a huge smashing pumpkins fan (i have 25 hours worth of their songs on my hard drive) but i never heard this version of the song untill the watchmen trailer.
I'm not too fond of any of the previous adaptations of moore's work but using this hidden pumpkins gem has already won me over.
I think of this song every time I fix somebody's ill thinking.
you tell me why I remembered this 11 years later
That's a pretty good thought!
good song
this is going to be known as the watchmen song. thats cool. :)
After initially hearing this song, I thought it was made for the watchmen movie exclusively. It matches so well the whole idea of the novel.
it will disappoint me.
Watchmen is a true masterpiece.
Schneyder will do a mess. i'm sure.
and that s why probably i m not goin to watch it. i keep it perfectly in the way it must be: PAPER!
great song, no doubts!!
ok i spoiled a comic that came out in the 80s id think most of ya have read the book before comin to the smashing pumpkings song...ITS STILL A FUCKING AWESOME GRAPHIC NOVEL
hmm...this song seems to fit the Dark Knight more now that I listen to it
first off teh movie is pushing 3 hours in its first cut and they are doing a background dvd that is supposed to released in march or may and also the are doing the comic that is in it in its own movie so ya they are going to be going in to much intricate film than some crap 2 hour film you believe it is going to be.
absolutly with you mate!
Guys i finished reading Watchmen. It's amazing!
you know whats pretty amazing he never deleted the comment.... thats pathetic... of that guy... if he says then do it! by the way nice way to tick people off. NICE WORK!!!!!

Amazing, simply amazing.
this song came out years and years ago.... it's just been remixed and slowed down....still love the Smashing pumpkins
Technically by a psychologist's diagnosis, Batman would be pretty mentally unhealthy as well. Although their are moral limits Batman places on himself, Rorschach has none. Still, since violence is violence (regardless of what degree it goes), both men would probably be treated pretty similarly.

Watchmen is a great classic
Finally, someone else who admits that Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow was truly a great movie. Watchmen is gonna kick sooooo much ass!!!
River monsters brought me here
Tottaly thought it was him as well.
I concur
this song is awesome!!
funny how one movie trailer can popularize a song
Great version of an otherwise ordinary song (IMHO).... can't wait for the film!
Here in 2021
I finished the Watchmen graphic novel and all I can say is: wow!!!
Can't wait until the movie comes out, really hoping it does the book justice.
amazing song........so good

there are two songs with the same lyrics. the one you're thinking of is "the end is the beginning is the end". billy corgan is a complicated guy.
this song is perfect for watchmen.
RELEASE, and I can’t stress this enough, THE SNYDER CUT
search for smashing pumpkins and it should be in the "top songs" box.
That or click on the b-sides or rarities album and scroll down to something like track number 95
can't wait o see rorshack kick some ass

Go figure that a song about the end of the world would be used in Watchmen
Actually, a version of this is on the Batman and Robin soundtrack
this song is amazing. i cant wait for watchmen to come out. im definately gonna see it in IMAX
The current plan is to release Tales from the Black Freighter and Under the Hood as a DVD, then combine Black Freighter on an "ultimate edition" DVD for a staggering four-five hour epic.
really i was thinking that robert downey jr is the comedian,it seems so similar
I double love this song!!!
So am I, so am I. Although I do think R's voice is the movie sounds a little too much like Batman.
I CONQUER
Go find a copy of the "Batman & Robin" OST. It's one of the last tracks on the CD.
I'm glad some good old Smashing Pumpkin music is getting out there. They fucking rock.
This movie looks promising as well.
This sounds like the perfect theme song for Watchmen :/
The industrial sound effects makes it sound like clockwork $

i typed in "the beginning is the end is the beginning" in iTunes search, but it said my search had no results...=(
will it actually be in the movie?
It seems to me - it won't.
I've seen an interview somewhere, where they said the remix was used ONLY for the trailer. In fact there's another trailer with a whole different tune.
The alternate version. I completely forgot about this!
yeah...Lol..it seems to be coming at me....lol
My younger brother did a lot of the mo-cap for WM last year. He said exactly the same thing when I went to visit him in Culver City.
"This is the sickest show I've ever worked on..." haha CANT WAIT!!!
Ok, thanks anyway man.
better than the original..
