    Really great ideas! I like this fountain, but I had similar complaints and you've really helped me out. I've had to work with their customer support because my old motor got clogged up with minerals from my water, and I was surprised by how prompt they were with their response. Definitely recommend using filtered water (or bottled) or else you'll have to clean the pump fairly often, depending on your tap water - learned that the hard way. Anyways, thanks for the video! It's impressive how you found just the right pieces to work together for the opening.

      Hi @Miaustore, have you had the chance to address these design flaws? I am looking to buy a fountain but I'm hesitant whether to get this or the small one.
      This one I like bette, however, the flaws from this video are a game breaker for me. Unless those are fixed I'd go with the smaller one.
      Any clues?

      The fact that miaustore hasn't come back here to provide an update on whether any of these issues have been addressed, does not inspire confidence to this prospective customer.
      On one large pet supply website, 27% of buyers gave this Miaustore fountain 1 star out of 5. This was not a small sample size, as there were over 130 reviews of this particular fountain.
      It appears the design issues have not been resolved, and cheap, unreliable parts (eg. the pump) are still being used.
      Too many recent buyers (Jan-April 2022) have reported broken/non functioning pumps, and other issues within the first 2 months of purchase. Who really wants to be continually going through the cycle and inconvenience of sending the pump back to the manufacturer for a replacement ? At this price point, buyers should be getting more reliability.
      Miaustore has had plenty of time to evolve this fountain, yet design and parts issues still persist. I think I'm going to hold off purchasing this product until Miaustore can convince me that this fountain has reliability that can be measured in years, not just weeks and months.

    Thank you!!! For the explanation!
    I bought this fountain (holds 120oz) about 3 weeks ago & & loved it for about 4 days. We were going to buy another one until we found 60oz of water on the floor! We tried making adjustments & to the towers, & that didn’t work. We think/thought the base was cracked bc we couldn’t figure out where “it was leaking”. After discussing it, & looking for the problem that we couldn’t find, we decided to look for something else. I don’t want to risk water damage.
    After watching your video, it wouldn’t surprise me if this was the issue.

    • @keaco73
      @keaco73  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah, if the water is happening to flow off the back lip of that tower and is touching the rim of the basin holding the water, it could leak that way and drive you crazy.

    I recently obtained a fountain and noticed some of the same issues you had. There isn't enough clearance between the towers and the basin so water sometimes overflows onto the floor. The problem is the main tower which could use a higher rim (or a slightly larger basin.). I tried silicone nose pads and silicone makeup pads to tilt the tower but they float. I'm trying your suggestion next. The pump definitely needs a screen--I made one out of a Japanese tea bag (not paper) and even tried a fancy conical tea bag (Tea Forte) which works to keep pump and tubing unclogged. Don't think I can upload photos here, but a muslin spice bag should work also. Thank you for the helpful video.

    • @keaco73
      @keaco73  3 года назад

      Yes I noticed that problem as well with the back of the larger tower against the basin. So I always have to pay attention to move it forward a bit. I’m not sure what you’re propping the tower up with but just make sure it’s safe for drinking water. That was what I was careful with when selecting the silicone. The filter that’s on the motor is just the plastic slotted outer-edge which fills up with a good amount of hair after approximately a week. I’d be curious how fast the water stops flowing after using that filter you referred to. Especially now that it’s the spring my cats are shedding a lot so if I were to use a more tightly knitted filter the pump might stop daily. Let us know how you make out :)

      @keaco73  3 года назад

      @@ykalaska maybe you can post your photos in sequence to Imgur then share the link?
      When you mentioned propping up the tower with a nose pad that’s what I was stressing about making sure anything in the water is safe for drinking etc :) I just built up the bottom with the silicone.
      The hose I mentioned in the video comes in very long precut lengths and I believe I may have cut mine a little longer than the manufacturer did.
      Also, I recently purchased a new pack of assorted washers from Home Depot for another project and it also contained the O-ring I mentioned in the video. Just adding that since the mentioned pack seems to be discontinued.

    I'm very interested in buying a water fountain for my three cats but I am full of doubts. Obviously ceramic ones are antimicrobial but...not even this one is completely made of ceramics: the tube and pump are plastic so bacteria can still build up in there. Plus, this one doesn't use filters, which is good for the wallet but I don't know about the cleanliness of water. And cats don't just touch water with their mouth, they often put their paws in, either to drink by licking them or to play. So, even if you change the water every week, or twice a week, and even if you keep the water running all the time, day and night, I guess it will always be not healthy enough...isn't it healthier to change it daily using a normal ceramic bowl? I don't know, I really wonder...and can't resolve to buy any fountain.

    • @keaco73
      @keaco73  Год назад

      Hi yea good points. But I’ve had 2 of these fountains for over 4yrs and they amount of times they put their paws in there was probably less than a dozen and it was 1 cat out of 3. The first time he put one of his paws in there was when the fountain was brand new, as if he was trying to size up the situation and if I top it off with him there and bubbles form he’ll try to pop the bubbles but other than that it’s rare they put their paws in there. And if you have to clean the tube etc once a week maybe it’s still less expensive than one with a filter. Also, with fountains there is oxygenation going on too which is another aspect that helps keep the water clean.
