Ralph Randolph Johnson (born July 4, 1951) is an American singer, songwriter, musician and producer. Johnson is a member and percussionist of the funk/soul/disco band Earth, Wind & Fire.
Johnson was born and raised in Los Angeles. His father was a lyricist and his mother was a vocalist, and they had music always playing in their home. At the age of eight years old Johnson received his first snare drum and drum lesson. Johnson developed a love of R&B music, listening mainly to Motown and Stax and Sly and the Family Stone. He played in elementary, junior high, and high school bands. At age 13, he attended a James Brown concert, which was his first live concert, and was amazed by the three drum sets on the stage. In 1965, Johnson's brother introduced him to the world of Jazz. He joined local bands "The Teen Turbans" and "The Masters Children

And Ralph Johnson is more than a percussionist Mr voiceover. Do your research. He was the hey day drummer for EWF, then Fred (Maurice and Verdine's brother), joined the group and EWF had double drummers. And Maurice, a drummer himself (played on tons of hit records as well as with Ramsey Lewis before he formed EWF), would play on some songs in the studio from time to time. Being a drummer and bass player myself, I can literally listen to licks on EWF records and tell you who's playing, fact. And don't forget, Philip Bailey can play drums also.

Please 🙏 Please 🙏 Please 🙏 don't insult this "Great Group" by comparing them with the👉 👉 👉 "🤣Beatles🤣", yes they were only famous to this "Lilly White Racist Society", but the Black👉🌏 saw 👀 no real earth shattering sound or performance, i'm sorry 😢 thats just the way it is, now the only positive thang that i can say about them is & this came years later in terms of my opinion bout their music 🎶 which was at best 👌 to me, & that they did write ✍️ some beautiful lyrics at times, other than that please they don't compare in my humble opinion!!! Amen 🙏!!!

I'm not being funny here but, I'm black born and bred in liverpool U.K the home of the Beatles, I have been a fan of both bands since i was a young boy growing up in liverpool U.K, i have never heard this comparison before about EWF being the black beatles, they are their own band, this comparison has only came from america were racism is rife were your judged by comparison, even if your in a band, so sad.
To be compared with the Beatles - there is nothing wrong with that. Only if you were alive you know what a groundbreaking group it was. There was nothing like that before. So don’t worry…….love love my Earth Wind and Fire❤️❤️
