I've got to say I'm getting really fed up with everything going to subscription services these days. The amount that the consumer is expected to pay (especially for pioneer gear) then they want another regular payment every month or year is getting silly now. It really isn't for me and is starting to put me off DJ'ing all together after I have spent thousands over the years on gear and music just to be made into a monthly payment cash cow. It really is a shame and I do think I'm not going to be alone on this train of thought.
+1 You're definitely not alone in that train of thought. I can see the subscription model working for some people in some situations, but to unlock the core functions of a *controller* that you bought? Yeah... no. If all DJ software was subscription, I would go standalone only.
i like the purchase reminders from Pioneer a lot when you using this app especially while turning the iphone, i like it so i never can forget the links to purchase...and later in rekordbox desktop you have to purchase the cloud services...and finally you have to upgrade your rekordbox dropbox acount to more storage...😂
Is there a Denon/Engine Dj Equivalent? I recently moved from Rekordbox to Engine DJ and tried to run Engine Dj on my Samsung device, using Samsung Dex... Couldn't run the installer but tried it anyway... and maybe someone at Denon will read this comment 🤣 I loved being able to do the setup work in the rekordbox app, on my phone while out and about, on the sofa or when creative ideas hit... great vid as always Phil, thanks so much.
I'm a huge djay Pro AI fan and use the Mac version exclusively at gigs. That said, I have been very surprised at how much they've had wide open lanes to accelerate in the phone/tablet DJ market, even to the point that people who use Rekordbox, Serato, VDJ, etc. tend to purchase it for their mobile devices. This app seems to be a first major step toward other desktop juggernauts entering the highway.
Side note: I think Rekordbox is going to be software to watch over the next couple of years. Pioneer has done a lot to benefit Serato (and vice versa), primarily, but like Apple has for decades, they really seem to be tapping into wanting to control the hardware/software integration experience. It's a little different as their software lives on other manufacturers' devices, but similar in they are already the controller/mixer kings. It looks like Pioneer is paying a lot more attention to Rekordbox these days. Goodness knows they have the resources.
It’s also a great back up tool. I use an opus quad at the moment and I have rekordbox professional but I’m considering subscribing to this app upgrade as a back up tool encase my opus fails at any point. Then I can DJ straight from my IPAD into an external mixer
Not much use if you use the standard gear (CDJs/ mixers). It would be really cool if you could plug this into a CDJ, use the jay as a controller and mix with only one. Also makes me think of the bluetooth on the new A9. I would imagine you could also plug this into the multi i/o on a V10 and get even more decks (if the six it already has isn't enough for you) or you could use it on the go to flesh out a mix idea you have. I like the model of being able to work on the go (when you are not in front of your gear), it lets me sneak in a little extra DJ time.
Looking forward to solid iPad Dj solutions, taking a laptop to a gig has always seemed overkill as it’s essentially a monitor / very basic controller. And that risk never made sense for me.
Im 33 spun on technics, pioneer cdjs but have been out of the game for 13 years, this app and flx 4 controller i think is brilliant. Never been interested in using a laptop too bulky and fragile

So this works like a stand alone? No laptop needed. I think I'll sell my mixstream pro when beatport integration happens. Does the cable also charge your phone when it's in use?
Yes, it can work on its own or plugged into the FLX4 or DDJ-200. Yes, cable charges your phone when in use - 99% sure about that (haven't yet had it plugged in long enough to check with my own eyes!)

i have a ddj 400 and would loce to connect to the app via a cable. im tired of bringing my computer to the rave and risking a drink being spilled on it. id love to use this app but would rather not have to upgrade to the flx4. does anyone know if you can plug the ddj400 into the iphone and use this app? it would be a bummer if they make the user upgrade to their newest unit, but i guess thats how marketing works…supply and demand
I had the same question and from what i've been reading the answer is currently NO sadly... :( I have a DDJ-400 that I would love to connect via cable to my ipad but reports are coming in that it simply doesn't work, which is odd, considering the 400 unlocks performance mode when using Rekordbox PC version.
Phil, why is there such a martlet for phone Djs? As many times as I’ve hooked my gear up to my phone to mix on an app, I’ve never done so at a party nor have I ever seen another DJ do it. No hate. Just curious. I wonder what the true best DJ app is.
On android i can connect my phone with the USB-C and it works fine, but when i connect my phone with bluetooth to the FLX4 the musik is comming out of my smartphone speakers. Do you know any way to fix that?

Updated App to use DDJ200 based on review but it actually isn’t supported and now prompted all the time for subs!🙈No worries Phil, we all make mistakes lol. Is it possible to downgrade to any earlier version again somehow?

Hi I have bought a FLX4 today buzzin to get it home n crack on! I don’t have a laptop only using my phone with rekordbox I can’t get my HEADPHONES to work with the unit? No issue with them as I have tried multiple in and also in different units. Tried deleting app reinstalling n still nothing “just white noise” help please 🙏🏼
I have the same issue after changing phones from iphone 11 with ios 16 to iphone 15 pro with ios 17. 😢 Something to do with iOS 17?? (There is a press release on this from august 23, that strangely then talks only on mac OS sonoma) No output on the master or cue headphone jack, instead now wth quite a recognizeable whitenoise. Strangely all the button and fader controls are working. But the phone can not utilize the controllers soundcard. Anybody has any news?

The FLX-4 doesn't hardware unlock headphones output?? This review felt rushed. I'm still not clear on what it can and can't do with and without a subscription and what js hardware unlocked.
OK. Kind of strange that they made such a restrictive hardware unlock, considering the app only supports 2 controllers to begin with. Those pop ups alone would probably put me off of using the app in performance mode. I was waiting hoping for something more appealing, but now my next investment will probably be upgrading my DJ PC to a Windows tablet as the new ones have iPad class battery life sans the mobile app store model of surcharges, mandatory subscriptions, and no way to downgrade from a bad update.
Nope, and there's no word from Pioneer if they will ever support it. My guess is there won't be another app update for 2 or 3 years when they will release a new line of controllers. 🌈
I just tried this on my iPhone and logged into Tidal within the app... but no playlists are listed? I can play from their "Genres" section so I know it is logged in, but the playlists not shown means I cannot use this for now...hopefully they'll fix this soon.
Quick help if you can guys, how the hell do I add music to Rekordbox on my iPad? It has option for local library but i have failed to find how I add my own library (from USB) to a place where Rekordbox reads it. I dont want to bother with cloud sync.
After posting this, I realised that any music downloaded via iTunes appears, but that's only a fraction of my library. Do you know if Apple Music Subscription tracks downloaded are readable by Rekordbox? Or just easier to use Tidal?
@@digitaldjtips so I found a way without Cloud. If I synched my iPads Apple Music with my iPad, so that my iPad music library was identical on both machines (serato on MacBook reading Apple Music and Rekordbox reading Apple Music on iPad), everything was there without Cloud. BUT, I tried using for a few house party gigs at the weekend and Rekordbox kept crashing, froze loading tracks and just unreliable Browing. Don't know if just my iPad Pro 2018 is now a little too old but it looks like App still is not really the solution I thought it was.
I'm not sure if such app would be performant enough. In app performance world you need to be closest to the hardware level as possible. In this case it's DJ app, which you can even use via bluetooth which mean they must provide lowest possible latency, no overheating of the hardware, no sound spikes/lags etc. So I'd say just for the performance reasons hybrid app is out of the window. They have to do it natively for each device. You can see this happening with Algoriddim DJay, where iOS version supports a lot of devices why Android one supports just a few. You must write native app for best performance and no compromises can be done there.
there are a million Android phones out there and it's problematic to optimise stuff for so many different OS versions and hardware, Apple only maintains 6-8 models
It has a reason that Audio Apps are mostly made for iOS / iPadOS. Audio on Apple devices is better implemented natively, no matter if its macOS or their mobile OS. Thats a fault of Google and not the App developers. Beside that, the iOS Version is out for some hours and it is a differeent OS, even if they had submit the 4.0 Update at the same time it would be still in the range of different approval times of the App stores.
Can anyone connect phone with usb cable? i could only connect it with bluetooth, when i try with usb cable the loop lights are flashing and it doesn't connect

My Tidal playlists don’t appear in the Rekordbox mobile iOS app. Also I don’t see an option to sync my Tidal playlists from the Rekordbox app on my MacBook to the ios app. Does anyone else experience the same problem or know the solution?

Apple is pretty good at handover as well, between laptops, phones, watch etc. I like this approach being able to prepare mobile or on laptop, the only drawback is all the subscription based fees... Really have to used to that and also wonder if I ever stop paying, will everything go pooofff into thin air? Up to now I've always bought lifetime or one-time license, and the subscriptions are adding up... Tidal, RB, this DJ app, dropbox, DJ pools...
I don't know if this will ever become a reality, but here is my dream setup: FLX-6 A 10-12 inch tablet with some kind of 3D printed mount for the controller A USB hub connected to the second USB input on the FLX6 Powerbank connected to the back of my tablet Cables into whatever amp or active speakers are there ahh, the simplicity... not even a powercable would be needed

Tried this on my flx 4 this morning , couldnt get cues to work when the headphones were plugged into the flx 4 . Was also disappointing that there were paid upgrades to make it work properly . Also was hoping my phone would power it for some limited portability but it needs a usb charger with my samsung s22 so i might as well just use my laptop . Seems piontless unfortunately . Gutted as it could of been great
@Digital DJ Tips i kept trying to get it to work using the 7 day trial but no matter what i did i could not get sound out of my speaker or headphones with it all connected via usb to my samsung s22 ultra (no bluetooth) .the controller powered up and could control the android app, the lights on the mixer showed there was music playing but no sound outputted anywhere but As soon as i moved the flx to my laptop everything worked perfectly , ive given up trying to use my phone now as it stressed me out alot. I think somethings broken in the android /flx4 firmware currently
Nope! Can confirm it's on Android!! I have the app, you just need to have Android 11 and up if you're wondering, though it didn't get the new feature of the rekordBox mobile app which is performance mode, so hopefully it'll come soon, waiting since last week of January :)
Has anyone noticed that all buttons and pads are not illuminated except for the loop buttons when the controller is only connected to the iPhone/iPad via Bluetooth? Is that supposed to be the case? It's the same for me and at first I thought the controller was defective. If you connect to the iPhone/iPad via cable, it's different, but even then the controller can only be used if it is also connected via Bluetooth. If this is actually intended, it seems to me in any case not useful.
that's really right. most midi devices with 2way (cable and bluetooth) connections behave this way when conencted through bluetooth.. I don't think bluetooth reads the manufacturer device indentification chip.
That's why I have little interest in mobile platforms. With most services you pay more monthly to do less than you can do with a regular PC. Also auto updates can remove or paywall features at any time. I'm going to wait and see with this.
So what power supply does the FLX4 need? Pioneer says a 9V 3A power supply unit? Have not found anything yet. Should be 27W at least? QC only has 18W (9V 2A). Tried 5V 2.4A, did not work. Update: Tried some universal charger that supports 9V 3A - it works, but these are quiet expensive (50 €+). And as Phil says in the video, without subscription, it's useless, because you can't use headphones! Fun fact: The app also delivers updates to the FLX4. So you can update the firmware without a Mac or PC. Update 2: You CANNOT use your MacBook for powering only the FLX4. Pioneer released an firmware update today which allows using the FLX4 with djay pro AI. Haven't tried, because I don't have pro, but the app recognizes the controller and wants to map it. Looks like this only works with pro. So I'd say djay pro AI is cheaper and currently the better deal for the FLX4 than the new rekordbox dj app.
You still have to pay 50 a year if your a pro sub? The wait for Android was expected, anoying but I wont buy a iphone just for this, im guessing a few more months to wait. I want to know 2 things please if anyone can help, can you record sets on your phone (and if so what format), and does it save gain changes for individual songs like it would on a computer? I'm using Cloud and Pro sub.
We have no idea yet, and yes being a pro Rekordbox subscriber doesn't save you from needing a sub for this if you want to unlock all of its features, apparently.
I already subscribe to Rekordbox Creative plan yet they're asking me to susbcribe to this separately if I want to use all of it's features? Taking the fucking piss Pioneer
To be honest I’m very disappointed. I have a DDJ-1000 and my laptop is getting old. I was really looking forward to the iPad version of rekordbox to replace my laptop by an iPad to have a XDJ-XZ style setup but sadly it’s only compatible with entry level controllers and it looks very features limited. I thought we would get a real competitor to Djay Pro AI but Rekordbox looks to still be far behind
It's unlikely this will ever be integrated into flagship gear. Professionals don't want gimmicks, this tech will need to mature for a long time and be very useful before we see it on anything that's not entry level. Noritsu will probably add a lot of new, gimmicky stuff to the software and lower end controllers, now that they own Pioneer Dj they will want to explore new streams of revenue.
@@aaronb9630 How is it a gimmick? Except for the base iPad (which is still very powerful) all the other ipad have an m1 chip which is the same as some macbook (not with the same tuning but still). iPads are now more powerful than a lot of macbooks that run rekordbox just fine. Since MacOS and iPadOS run on the same architecture now, there’s no good reason why they can’t put out a full version of rekordbox on iPad.
When you factor in the price of the subscription and an iPad, I'm thinking I'll just get a Windows tablet for my next DJ PC. Their battery life is almost as good as iPads now and I can just use one PC with DDJs, XDJs, FLXs with no monthly fee and no need to resync anything.
@@aaronb9630 I would encourage you to rethink what I think I understand you are suggesting. Technology is always evolving but evolves faster than a lot of things... so you can find yourself way behind the curve before you know it & have to work that much harder to catch up.
Serato old shit. Make a video battle of Virtual DJ vs Serato programs. Testing: the scratch sound the scratch filter, sensor settings (Does Serato even do this?) stems sound settings selection of the wavetrack type, zoom and much more Or are you a housewife who can't figure out the VDJ settings?

They don't even know that VDJ has far surpassed the old Serato in technology. And it gives you more settings and features. It's time to open their eyes. Worst app!! If I don't like to DJ, just to prepare the tracks, I see that annoying popup requesting money at any time. Pioneer subscriptions sucks!! No more subscriptions!!!!!
We haven't had time to test just how intrusive the popups are when you're just using it to prep your music, but yes - so far they do look pretty intrusive!
Show it all. Serato vs Virtual DJ. Serato there are no scratch settings. Algorithms, filters, wheel sensitivity. He does not know how to disconnect the sensor from the track on the controllers by removing his hand, waiting for the wheel to stop completely. He does not know how to play the track right away, does not depend on the speed of the motor. The sensitivity of backspin and forwardspin is not adjusted. Quick scratch hurts the ears, many DJs mute the scratch on the serato. The interface is clumsy. Nothing can be changed. There are no skins. The buttons are stupid as children's cubes. Sync is stupid, in order to disable it, you do not need to press it again, but on a separate off button. The wave of tracks, type, height, color, shape, etc. are not selected. ZOOM is very limited, you can not quickly adjust the mouse wheel. Not a convenient grid setup, VDJ is easily selected with the right mouse button. There is no SandBox to scratch with a crossfader in headphones. Poor sound tuning. Output for recording or broadcasting via crutches. There is no choice of ASIO. There is no sound card selection. There is no ExclusiveMode - direct access to the hardware of the audio card.VDJ even 1 ms on the built-in audio card does not wheeze anything. The sound delay is worse. It cheats in ms (because sound is coming through wasapi). The laptop speaker mode is generally a crutch with a sound delay. Draining the tracks browser and inconvenient playlists. Does not know how to work directly with tracks, as a file explorer, edit and other operations. Even the pitch range has no settings in the software. Does not support different plates with a time code. From a 2kHz tractor, more sensitive. There are no PitchQuality-pitch quality settings, but as an additional crutch, they sell PnT for money and without settings Does not distinguish keylock from MasterTempo, and these are different chips The SeratoPlay crutch is generally a shame. VDJ is much better managed. The right mouse button is not involved at all.A bunch of functions are done through the ass. More consumption of computer resources, at times. VDJ flies without stems at all - ideally light for scratch. It's like buying a TV in which they don't even let you tune the sound and channels. Everything is stupid and limited. And VDJ can do everything. Therefore, I want more videos where they test VDJ vs Serato vs Traktor. FROM scratch on DVS, scratch on the controller, slow scratch how it sounds, master tempo on and off, different modes, scratch filters and pitch height, etc. Different controllers how they sound when scratching, because they have sensors of different resolutions (number of counts per revolution). That's what you need, and not stupidly show the Serato 100500 times. Yet it is known in comparison. ;)
hmmm, a few years back i got back into djing using the dj player pro app on ipad using a multi out interface with a 3 channel analogue mixer. it was a lot of fun, if i could just get somthing like this again but with the beatport link capabilities that would be great. Dream would be to have a 4 channel controller/mixer without the jog wheels, but have all the cue buttons, effects buttons, ect plugged into my andriod phone or ipad. I find when u have a good responsive screen on a phone/tablet you dont need jog wheels anymore. As a hobbyist i just need the small footprint with a phone and mixer along with the streaming services included.

You can plug in to CDJs and use as a music library, we haven't tested that yet.

i have a ddj 400 and would loce to connect to the app via a cable. im tired of bringing my computer to the rave and risking a drink being spilled on it. id love to use this app but would rather not have to upgrade to the flx4. does anyone know if you can plug the ddj400 into the iphone and use this app? it would be a bummer if they make the user upgrade to their newest unit, but i guess thats how marketing works…supply and demand

I have a DDJ-400 that I would love to connect via cable to my ipad but reports are coming in that it simply doesn't work, which is odd, considering the 400 unlocks performance mode when using Rekordbox PC version.
Sadly not - this is strictly only the DDJ-FLX4 and DDJ-200.

No, that unit requires you to prepare your music on a laptop then DJ from USB.
On android i can connect my phone with the USB-C and it works fine, but when i connect my phone with bluetooth to the FLX4 the musik is comming out of my smartphone speakers. Do you know any way to fix that?

We haven't used an SB3 with a phone, it may be possible though, but this app only works officially with the DDJ-FLX4.

I can’t get my HEADPHONES to work with the unit? No issue with them as I have tried multiple in and also in different units. Tried deleting app reinstalling n still nothing “just white noise” help please 🙏🏼

No output on the master or cue headphone jack, instead now wth quite a recognizeable whitenoise.
Strangely all the button and fader controls are working.
But the phone can not utilize the controllers soundcard.

OK. Kind of strange that they made such a restrictive hardware unlock, considering the app only supports 2 controllers to begin with. Those pop ups alone would probably put me off of using the app in performance mode. I was waiting hoping for something more appealing, but now my next investment will probably be upgrading my DJ PC to a Windows tablet as the new ones have iPad class battery life sans the mobile app store model of surcharges, mandatory subscriptions, and no way to downgrade from a bad update.

Nope, and there's no word from Pioneer if they will ever support it. My guess is there won't be another app update for 2 or 3 years when they will release a new line of controllers. 🌈

I just tried this on my iPhone and logged into Tidal within the app... but no playlists are listed? I can play from their "Genres" section so I know it is logged in, but the playlists not shown means I cannot use this for now...hopefully they'll fix this soon.
it's probably a gated (paid subscription) feature.

Quick help if you can guys, how the hell do I add music to Rekordbox on my iPad? It has option for local library but i have failed to find how I add my own library (from USB) to a place where Rekordbox reads it. I dont want to bother with cloud sync.
After posting this, I realised that any music downloaded via iTunes appears, but that's only a fraction of my library. Do you know if Apple Music Subscription tracks downloaded are readable by Rekordbox? Or just easier to use Tidal?

@@digitaldjtips so I found a way without Cloud. If I synched my iPads Apple Music with my iPad, so that my iPad music library was identical on both machines (serato on MacBook reading Apple Music and Rekordbox reading Apple Music on iPad), everything was there without Cloud.
BUT, I tried using for a few house party gigs at the weekend and Rekordbox kept crashing, froze loading tracks and just unreliable Browing. Don't know if just my iPad Pro 2018 is now a little too old but it looks like App still is not really the solution I thought it was.

We do not know at this stage.
There is no excuse for not having it for Android already. There are hybrid apps nowadays which makes it possible to use 1 codebase for both platforms
I'm not sure if such app would be performant enough. In app performance world you need to be closest to the hardware level as possible.
In this case it's DJ app, which you can even use via bluetooth which mean they must provide lowest possible latency, no overheating of the hardware, no sound spikes/lags etc. So I'd say just for the performance reasons hybrid app is out of the window. They have to do it natively for each device.
You can see this happening with Algoriddim DJay, where iOS version supports a lot of devices why Android one supports just a few. You must write native app for best performance and no compromises can be done there.
It's not as easy as that with performance audio, unfortunately.

Not true for audio.
It has a reason that Audio Apps are mostly made for iOS / iPadOS. Audio on Apple devices is better implemented natively, no matter if its macOS or their mobile OS. Thats a fault of Google and not the App developers. Beside that, the iOS Version is out for some hours and it is a differeent OS, even if they had submit the 4.0 Update at the same time it would be still in the range of different approval times of the App stores.

My Tidal playlists don’t appear in the Rekordbox mobile iOS app. Also I don’t see an option to sync my Tidal playlists from the Rekordbox app on my MacBook to the ios app. Does anyone else experience the same problem or know the solution?

Apple is pretty good at handover as well, between laptops, phones, watch etc. I like this approach being able to prepare mobile or on laptop, the only drawback is all the subscription based fees... Really have to used to that and also wonder if I ever stop paying, will everything go pooofff into thin air?

Tried this on my flx 4 this morning , couldnt get cues to work when the headphones were plugged into the flx 4 . Was also disappointing that there were paid upgrades to make it work properly . Also was hoping my phone would power it for some limited portability but it needs a usb charger with my samsung s22 so i might as well just use my laptop . Seems piontless unfortunately . Gutted as it could of been great
We'd say a subscription is definitely necessary, otherwise those popups get too annoying.
@Digital DJ Tips i kept trying to get it to work using the 7 day trial but no matter what i did i could not get sound out of my speaker or headphones with it all connected via usb to my samsung s22 ultra (no bluetooth) .the controller powered up and could control the android app, the lights on the mixer showed there was music playing but no sound outputted anywhere but As soon as i moved the flx to my laptop everything worked perfectly , ive given up trying to use my phone now as it stressed me out alot. I think somethings broken in the android /flx4 firmware currently

Nope! Can confirm it's on Android!! I have the app, you just need to have Android 11 and up if you're wondering, though it didn't get the new feature of the rekordBox mobile app which is performance mode, so hopefully it'll come soon, waiting since last week of January :)

Has anyone noticed that all buttons and pads are not illuminated except for the loop buttons when the controller is only connected to the iPhone/iPad via Bluetooth? Is that supposed to be the case? It's the same for me and at first I thought the controller was defective. If you connect to the iPhone/iPad via cable, it's different, but even then the controller can only be used if it is also connected via Bluetooth. If this is actually intended, it seems to me in any case not useful.
We're looking forward to having a proper play ourselves!
that's really right. most midi devices with 2way (cable and bluetooth) connections behave this way when conencted through bluetooth.. I don't think bluetooth reads the manufacturer device indentification chip.

That's why I have little interest in mobile platforms. With most services you pay more monthly to do less than you can do with a regular PC. Also auto updates can remove or paywall features at any time. I'm going to wait and see with this.

So what power supply does the FLX4 need?
Pioneer says a 9V 3A power supply unit? Have not found anything yet.
Should be 27W at least? QC only has 18W (9V 2A).
Tried 5V 2.4A, did not work.
Update: Tried some universal charger that supports 9V 3A - it works, but these are quiet expensive (50 €+).
And as Phil says in the video, without subscription, it's useless, because you can't use headphones!
Fun fact: The app also delivers updates to the FLX4. So you can update the firmware without a Mac or PC.
Update 2:
You CANNOT use your MacBook for powering only the FLX4.
Pioneer released an firmware update today which allows using the FLX4 with djay pro AI.
Haven't tried, because I don't have pro, but the app recognizes the controller and wants to map it. Looks like this only works with pro.
So I'd say djay pro AI is cheaper and currently the better deal for the FLX4 than the new rekordbox dj app.

We have no idea yet, and yes being a pro Rekordbox subscriber doesn't save you from needing a sub for this if you want to unlock all of its features, apparently.

To be honest I’m very disappointed. I have a DDJ-1000 and my laptop is getting old. I was really looking forward to the iPad version of rekordbox to replace my laptop by an iPad to have a XDJ-XZ style setup but sadly it’s only compatible with entry level controllers and it looks very features limited.
I thought we would get a real competitor to Djay Pro AI but Rekordbox looks to still be far behind
It's unlikely this will ever be integrated into flagship gear. Professionals don't want gimmicks, this tech will need to mature for a long time and be very useful before we see it on anything that's not entry level. Noritsu will probably add a lot of new, gimmicky stuff to the software and lower end controllers, now that they own Pioneer Dj they will want to explore new streams of revenue.
@@aaronb9630 How is it a gimmick? Except for the base iPad (which is still very powerful) all the other ipad have an m1 chip which is the same as some macbook (not with the same tuning but still). iPads are now more powerful than a lot of macbooks that run rekordbox just fine. Since MacOS and iPadOS run on the same architecture now, there’s no good reason why they can’t put out a full version of rekordbox on iPad.
When you factor in the price of the subscription and an iPad, I'm thinking I'll just get a Windows tablet for my next DJ PC. Their battery life is almost as good as iPads now and I can just use one PC with DDJs, XDJs, FLXs with no monthly fee and no need to resync anything.

Technology is always evolving but evolves faster than a lot of things... so you can find yourself way behind the curve before you know it & have to work that much harder to catch up.

Worst app!! If I don't like to DJ, just to prepare the tracks, I see that annoying popup requesting money at any time. Pioneer subscriptions sucks!! No more subscriptions!!!!!
We haven't had time to test just how intrusive the popups are when you're just using it to prep your music, but yes - so far they do look pretty intrusive!

The sensitivity of backspin and forwardspin is not adjusted.
Quick scratch hurts the ears, many DJs mute the scratch on the serato.
The interface is clumsy. Nothing can be changed. There are no skins.
The buttons are stupid as children's cubes.
Sync is stupid, in order to disable it, you do not need to press it again, but on a separate off button.
The wave of tracks, type, height, color, shape, etc. are not selected.
ZOOM is very limited, you can not quickly adjust the mouse wheel.
Not a convenient grid setup, VDJ is easily selected with the right mouse button.
There is no SandBox to scratch with a crossfader in headphones.

And VDJ can do everything. Therefore, I want more videos where they test VDJ vs Serato vs Traktor.
FROM scratch on DVS, scratch on the controller, slow scratch how it sounds, master tempo on and off, different modes, scratch filters and pitch height, etc. Different controllers how they sound when scratching, because they have sensors of different resolutions (number of counts per revolution). That's what you need, and not stupidly show the Serato 100500 times. Yet it is known in comparison. ;)

hmmm, a few years back i got back into djing using the dj player pro app on ipad using a multi out interface with a 3 channel analogue mixer. it was a lot of fun, if i could just get somthing like this again but with the beatport link capabilities that would be great. Dream would be to have a 4 channel controller/mixer without the jog wheels, but have all the cue buttons, effects buttons, ect plugged into my andriod phone or ipad. I find when u have a good responsive screen on a phone/tablet you dont need jog wheels anymore. As a hobbyist i just need the small footprint with a phone and mixer along with the streaming services included.
Yeah, hear what you're saying there. DJing with just a laptop is one way to do this though.
