- A shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas left 19 children and two adults dead on Tuesday. Governor Greg Abbott later said authorities killed the 18-year-old lone gunman. The suspect, identified by Abbott as Salvador Ramos, entered Robb Elementary School after abandoning his vehicle with a handgun and possibly a rifle. Authorities add that many of the victims were in the second through fourth grades.

I have a grandbaby in elementary school and I cannot imagine going through what these families are going through. How you can look at an innocent young face and kill them is so beyond comprehension. 2 Brave teachers stood in front of children to try and save their lives while this police department stood outside for 40 mins!! and did nothing. Parents were shouting at them to go in and they were scared of losing their own lives. They had the numbers and guns and they could of pressured this piece of crap or at least stop him from killing other children and do their damn job. Fire and sue this entire department. You failed these kids, parents, teachers, and rest of the police forces.

Poor kids studied for amost a year, and only 2 days left before the summer. This is so sad.
😢 I’m heartbroken for these families. Parents should never have to bury their child. Children who were looking forward to summer plans with friends and family. Such a devastating loss of life. Pure evil for anyone to hurt children. Makes me think that until something is done about these school shootings, homeschooling seems like a better idea if I decide on kids in the future.

I work for a company with a hundred manufacturing facilities across the country and hundreds of employees in each building. You cannot enter any of the buildings without a key card. Why aren’t our schools secured with the most basic security? Locked doors? It’s crazy and stupid.
No locks on class room doors??? They have never practiced lock downs??? In this day and age since Sandy Hook this should have been a must!

I’ve started to realize that the older I get, the more often this feels like it happens. Most people don’t ever think this will happen to them, and for the majority of students, it wont. But I get scared thinking about something happening to my family and other families’ kids while they’re at school. I wonder what I would do if I saw their schools show up on the news like this and not be able to go inside to know if they’re safe.
Growing up, I always told my brothers what my more proactive teachers in school told me: If you have enough warning, don’t wait for a shooter to get to you. If they come into the room, throw whatever you can at them. I don’t think elementary age children could have possibly done anything, and none of the victims of this horrible tragedy are responsible; but if I were a teacher or a parent, I would make sure that the kids in my class knew they didn’t have to wait for the worst to happen and to find a way out. It makes me so incredibly sad that we have to teach children these things, but I really think we should.

It's a lot to do with it being all over t.v. and the internet everytime something happens. Only in the last 20 years has this been able to spread to quickly and all over the world instantaneously.
Children were taught to duck and cover during the Cold War, children sometimes look after there parents, children sometimes if not all the time in certain places have to find ways of surviving, children are not and never have been exempt from the cruelty and evil in this world they must be taught from and early age to defend themselves in what ever way possible and learn survival techniques. The problem is that teenager is likely a product of a parent not introducing biblical teachings or God into their lives.
I'm not the judge, nor do I know every choice presented or action taken in that 18 yr old's life.
Only the almighty can judge the soul of that teenager, and if it turns out they were introduced to god and his word but turned away from it, then they very well may be condemned.
For all we know, the teenager could have been a victim or someone grooming or misleading them to the point of doing something so evil.
Which the people/person responsible for all of the lives lost and corrupted will be judged by God.

There can only be ONE solution to this and that is *permanent gun ban in the ENTIRE state.* If that's not possible, then if I was a parent, I would either make my kids *attend classes online from home* (because apparently I can't trust any school with my kids nowadays) or leave the state (or country) and look for a safer environment elsewhere (where guns are BANNED and not an issue).

People talking about evil, bullying at school, not good enough school security, if only his parents had read him the bible etc etc.......EVERYTHING except banning the very thing that is used in all of these mass killing (gang killings, lone killings etc etc).
I shall NEVER understand the mindset of America, and it's complete lack of interest in banning the very thing that causes these terrible atrocities!
These mass shootings go on year after year after year, and NOTHING is ever done regarding gun laws!

News stations always do the exact opposite of what they should do in these situations. The shooter wants to be immortalized and the media does exactly that, every time.
If this ever happens at your school get the heck outta there! idk y they teach kids to lock the door and trap themselves in a room. thats what they teach you its ridiculous.

How the ----are people like this are getting into schools??? As a retired teacher, older mother of a five year old, we are only considering kindergarten, schools that have gates, security. Columbine occurred during my first year teaching full-time. Nothing has improved.
My 9 year old son has been in virtual school for 2 years now… I was going to let him go back to face to face for fourth grade after summer but this is absolutely terrifying me and I’m reconsidering. My heart and prayers go out to those families tonight. Those kids must have been so scared it breaks my heart 😭 I can’t stop thinking about this since I saw it on the news. This is so devastating

We have money to help protect other countries but can not take care of our own people on American soil. $40 trillion dollars paid to our government for what? Damn sure not to take care of other countries when we need to hire security for our schools and do work on our roads and bridges.

I can’t imagine sending my child to school only to get a call saying their life has been lost. These kids and staff were innocent people who did not deserve this. Even the perpetrator grandmother was hurt by him. She didn’t deserve it. No one did
These kids have not yet experienced life so much and all that life offers and yet this is just heartbreaking.
If the kids had called 911 and told them that the suspect was black and not armed and was in possession of an ounce of weed... The cops would have responded in less than 30 seconds and shot the guy 468 thousand times
Thankfully all those CBP were dispatched to the scene rather than waiting on the pre-call for SWAT. It could have been a lot worse my condolences for the families in Ulayde 😔

Why do we keep giving these killers such easy access to our children? WAKE UP! NO ONE should be allowed to approach a school without being stopped checked and verified. We have been through so many of these and each time the killer walks right into the school. Tax money must go to keeping our children SAFE guard them protect them. We need security filters and check points
I agree. How can a person with a firearm just walk into a school? Schools need alarms, barriers, security guards. These things need to be taken seriously. It's just happening way to much. These kids were just too vulnerable. This is Texas, for heaven's sake: the gun-lovers paradise!
Pretty easy to walk into a school if you're determined to kill people. Those up front probably didn't even know what was going on before being shot.
Go to your local schoolboard and talk about this. Anyway, as I understand it, many schools do have security, but no security is perfect. Sometimes security can be shot as well. Anyway, this isn't an easy issue and keep in mind, resources are scarce. You can spend a lot of money on security, but your kids might end up barely knowing how to read or write. There are no solutions, only tradeoffs.
@@Jimraynor45 other countries with Extreamly less funding and resources do NOT have this problem. Their schools are secure difficult to gain entry to and many of them have higher academic levels than the US. Beef up security do verified access for schools.
