If you think about it, 90% of the problems could have been avoided if John Hammond hadn't bred carnivores. Only breed herbivores and the worst thing you have to worry about is over-population when they start breeding on their own.

Except that's not how real animals work.
In actual nature, herbivores are WAY more dangerous than carnivores. A carnivore won't attack unless it's threatened, think you're its favored prey, or it's REALLY hungry. Herbivores can be extremely territorial, protective of their fellows, and just not tolerant of anything entering their space. There's an old saying: Carnivores run for their supper, herbivores run for their lives. A carnivore has to measure risk and reward and lot more, not wanting to expend too much energy or risk getting too injured to hunt. A herbivore will throw everything it has into defending itself or driving off/killing anything it sees as a threat or competition.

@@DraconimLt That's because it's a movie series. It's bullshit designed to give people thrills. In other words, they purposefully exaggerate the threat from carnivores to make the movies scary. It should not be relied on as a model for real animal behavior - living or extinct.

I love both the hybrid dinosaurs in both this and the last movie but for completely different reasons. I feel they're the opposite sides of the same coin. I love the Indominus for being a fairly realistic animal that serves as a cautionary tale to when animals are raised in captivity the wrong way. But I LOVE the Indoraptor for being this horror movie monster that howls at the moon and seems to take pure joy in murder. It's just so much fun to watch this guy running around smiling his scary head off.
Also, apparently there's a deleted scene where the Indoraptor learns to smile after watching a cruel guard taser one of the captive dinosaurs, and it slowly starts to mimic him

7:44 actually, she views the situation as her and Owen are surrounded, and when she sees the gun raising behind Owen, her instinct is to attack to protect her Alpha.
9:36 that is Baryonyx, part of the Spinosaurid genus, all of which are piscivorous dinosaurs known for the crocodilian head shape. Many of the recovered Baryonyx fossils have been found near to where I live in the South East of England.
11:47 she’d be outrunning the trucks if she was.
12:12 nope, that’s not a lump in my throat, you’re imagining it… this scene is heartbreaking. It’s even more heartbreaking that the writers confirmed that this is the same Brachiosaurus that was the very first dinosaur to appear on screen in the original Jurassic Park.
    17:24 “it’s a veggie-saurus Lex, a veggie-saurus” 😂
24:43 Blue looks at the cage, looks back like “In a cage? Are you freaking kidding me? How many times have I saved your ass and you wanna put me in a… hell no! Laters ‘Alpha’” 😂
25:12 “Monster is a relative term. To a canary, a cat is a monster, we’re just used to being the cat.” This cat just met the biggest canary ever.

I'm glad you enjoyed this movie! Honestly, I think all the Jurassic movies are amazing (Can't say about the Dominion one since I have not seen it, yet)! The friendly triceratops looking dinosaur is known as Sinoceratops. The crocodile/alligator-looking dinosaur is Baryonyx. The "T-Rex with horns" is the Carnotaurus (My favorite dinosaur among 1-2K known discovered dino species). The hard-headed friendly dinosaur that Owen (Chris Pratt's character) provoke to escape from the cell is called the Stygimoloch! Yup, I'm something of a dinosaur nerd myself, heh.

@{•Moonlight Edits•} Yeah, I'm all for real reactions. A genuine reaction is worth a lot. But I personally draw the limit at stunts. Dropping a ladder someone is hanging on, when they don't realize its going to move on them!!! That's potentially dangerous. Granted not life threatening injuries, but if you slip that could easily be a sprained ankle if not worse. He had a good instinct to hold on, so no harm done, but its still stupid. Also repeatedly targeting the same actor, that's kind of malicious. Trying to get genuine reactions should be reserved for when they're reacting to what others are doing, not reacting to things being done to them. Like Matt Damon laughing uncontrollably at Robin Williams going off script during good will hunting. Or Luda's spit take in F6.

4:58 Actual velociraptors are pretty small, about the size of a chicken. The "velociraptors" of JP and JW are pretty close in size to Utahraptor. We've also seen that small can still be deadly, like the compys in the book and JP2.

Strange plot too. I don’t want to put spoilers on here, I’ll just say for a Jurassic movie, it seemed to treat its main attractions (the dinosaurs) as afterthoughts.
It’s like: here’s a new species of dinosaur… aaaand it’s gone. Here’s another one… aaaand it’s gone. And as the movie is nearly finished, we’ll give you some fan service with a T-Rex… aaaand it’s gone.
I think almost every scene involving dinosaurs was shown in the trailers, certainly more than 50% of them.

Watch the long version of Dominion. Does the added footage make it perfect? Heck no. But if you're inclined to enjoy it in the first place, watch the extended version. Jurassic World Dominion is....weird. It doesn't feel much like a "dinosaur" movie. And it's oddly...quirky? I dunno. It's a 50/50 on whether you like it or not. I wasn't over the moon about but I lean towards "like"..

Come to think of it, the I raptor going after the girl doesn’t make sense in regards to eating for substance. Why go for the smaller food when you can go for the bigger food. I don’t think the I raptor is dieting and needs to maintain its figure so deciding to eat less than more is not a logical instinct. So that leads me to think that the I raptor is killing because it wants to. It’s killing for the hunt, because it wants to kill everything it sees. Just like the I-Rex which it has DNA from. So the Jurassic world movies have succeeded in making truly villainous dinosaurs. But then again, I think back to the raptors in original movie, when they were hunting lex and Tim in the kitchen. Were they simply hunting a food source or were they hunting them because they wanted to kill them for their own enjoyment? Muldoon did say they have intelligence, even problem solving intelligence. Perhaps they were fully aware that they were hunting weaker animals (man) and they were having a great time toying with them before they went for the kill. 🤔

    • @CoffeeMatt10
      @CoffeeMatt10 2 года назад

Everything about the Indoraptor makes it seem… unhinged… psychotic even. Like it had a mental defect. It twitches and tics as if it has Tourette’s, it behaves in an almost childishly menacing manner (the grin when it plays “dead” before chomping Wheatley’s arm). So for it to chase Maisie doesn’t make logical sense, but I think that’s the point. Nothing about the I-Raptor’s behaviour or mental state seems logical.

“What crocodile/alligator-looking thing is this?” That would be Baryonyx a relative of the Spinosaurus from Jurassic Park 3 that lived in Britain. Its name means “Heavy Claw” after the 12-inch claw on its thumb. This claw and its crocodile-like jaws indicate that Baryonyx primarily ate fish as its main source of food.

so further to my previous comment rewatching here... the first half of the movie on the island is actually not terrible and the final scene of the apatasaur on the docks in the clouds is really heart wrenching in particular..... its just all overshadowed by how utterly stupid all the stuff in the spooky mansion and the 'weaponised dinosaur' concept that just ruins it all for me utterly. I still cant get past the sheer level of stupid of:
WU: We have made a gun that if you aim it at the enemy then pull the trigger...
BUYER: It fires a bullet at them and they die?
WU: NO! Hahaha bullets are cheap and effective, why would we do that? Nonono, It puts a mark on them, and a trained dinosaur attacks them and THEN they die!
BUYER: Would a bullet not just be alot simpler?'
    WU: Erm.... well....
BUYER: Also isnt a bullet alot lmore reliable and also less likely to run amok after and eat your own guys?
    WU: I mean... yeeeessss but....
BUYER: Also bullets kill you right away... or if youre really set on the whole laser designator idea we have laser guided missiles and bombs if youre not worried about collateral damage...
    WU: I guess... technically.... but....
BUYER: And for that matter if the target has.. you know... guns themselves they can just shoot the dinosaur running at them... I mean theyre just animals at the end of the day right?
WU: All good points... but you see, the thing there isSMOKEBOMB!!!!!!'

A good read, more please. Except for the part where bullets kill you right away. Most fatalities bleed to death, unless expertly executed. Re. weaponisation, we've been doing it with food for thousands of years, including now.

    • @locutus9956
      @locutus9956 2 года назад

@@lifelover515 Im oversimplifying for brevity there, Im well aware most gunshots are not instantly fatal however theyre still a much more instantaneous result than 'deploy the velociraptor'... as for weaponisation yes we have indeed been doing that with all manner of things food anmials etc for many milenia but you'll find as a general rule those kind of weaponisations are more 'fire and forget' and are not used when you actually have a gun pointed at your target. Thats just the cherry on top for the stupidy of this movie. If they just wanted 'attack dinosaurs to unleach behind enemy lines that would kind of make some logical sense but the whole idea that theyre 'laser guided' is the really dumb part imo
