    "The Grand Conjuration" from Opeth's "Ghost Reveries" album (2005).
    I'm glad that I didn't try to record this song when I received a request for this song back in 2016. This song is really difficult and requires a lot of stamina. I had to film this about 8 times in a row because I kept messing up at the very end of the song due to tiredness. You can see some tiny mistakes in the playback, especially at the frantic part (5:34), but it should be fine. If you're not sure about your bass skills, but you do want to learn a big Opeth track then this is NOT the song for you. You might want to go to Harlequin Forest or Dirge for November. Anyway, the main riff is pretty easy and gets repeated about 20 times. The verse also gets repeated about 8 times which fills about 5 minutes of the whole song. However, the other 5 minutes are the real deal. There's a slapping part, there's a part where the BPM goes up to 216 (Really fast) and there's a part that requires some good finger positioning skills. Good luck!
    Some important information that nobody is going to read.

    Hey brother, full props here to you. These vids are great and so clean and easy to follow. If people can get past the assumptions of what this "type" of music is and "how it's just a bunch of loud noise", and actually listen to what is being laid down here, it is astounding. Such musicianship and musicality, along with a constant sense of melody. I play guitar. I also love this band, for obvious reasons. Seeing these vids from you actually made me buy a bass and amp to learn these bass lines. Thank you. Sincerely.

      @@LeoBassCovers2 That's a shame :/ Well, I can always look for a tab, but it doesn't feel the same without the 5 strings bass! Do you plan to do more Gojira covers in the future, or it's simply not possible to put more songs out at the moment?

    • @LeoBassCovers2

      I would honestly love to, but I'm currently releasing covers of songs that I personally like. It's not really a business anymore.

    The part at the end where Martin changes what he’s playing is crazy. I was like wtf? Haha. I attempted this song when I first started playing bass and got to the slap part and walked away. Now with more experience I’ve come back and have found this is a very basic slap and found it very easy. Still having issues with the fast parts.

    • @LeoBassCovers2
      @LeoBassCovers2  5 лет назад +3

      It's reaaaally difficult so don't beat yourself. You could also try to do a different position and play the fifth fret on the G string instead of going for that 10th fret not on the D string. could be easier for you, who knows..

    I'm a bit late to the party, but this cover is really great! Did you learn it by ear or does something like an official "Opeth" bass book exist?

      LeoBassCovers thanks man, just learned up to the end of the slap section today. Still sounds a bit rough but definitely a more doable song than I originally thought. Also, thank you so much for these covers! Theyve really allowed me to grow as a bassist
