I’m 32 years old and I’m so glad I was able to see rush live twice in my lifetime. Snakes and arrows tour was amazing
I'm 30 rush was my first concert with my parents. Listened to the album every day to school with my mom. 👍
Am I the only one that thinks this is one of the best Rush songs? Not just off Snakes and Arrows, but all time. That riff is addictive, and those lyrics are so personal.
It's in my Rush top 10...and I think in many other's top 10.
Intro and verses are strong. The chorus doesnt hold up for me. Its not terrible but i feel like if they were younger and were more willing to put the time and just keep working to get a better chorus it would have been a top shelf rush album opener.
I guess i wanted the chorus to be HARDER. At this time bands like rage against the machine were still out there tearing it up and this wants to be heavy like some of those other bands but the chorus just falls short. Oh, and that weird solo. What is that??
Red Barchetta and Natural Science have been my all time favorite RUSH songs for decades. Far Cry moved into third about 10 years ago. Phenomenal song!
It's one of my favorite rush songs of all time for sure!
When you're in your 40s and this song comes on, it really hits. "I can get back on, i can get back on. Aoo ohoh"
Few bands release so many solid late-career albums as Rush did. Bless their legacy, rightful rock legends all of them.
I am sure to be in the minority but the cumulative Snakes and Arrows album is a masterpiece. Every song is amazing.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s in my top five all time rush albums
I definitely agree. Snakes and Arrows as well as Roll the Bones are two of my favorite underrated Rush albums.
Can't agree it's a masterpiece, but it's certainly one of their more underrated albums. I think this primed their pump for what I'd consider a masterpiece, Clockwork Angels.
It’s a great album. Personally, their most underrated albums are Power Windows, Hold Your Fire, and Vapor Trails.
I agree. I put it above Clockwork Angels.
Cant believe i will never see him play again. Rest in Peace Neil. Maybe in the afterlife.
No sadness...just smiles. We were blessed to have a great musician like this in our lives
I wasn't sure anyone was going to see him play again no matter how healthy he was or how long he lived. But I wish he would have had a very long happy retirement.
Bro, Danny is going to see to Neil's affairs for many, many more years. You can be sure.
Sadly, his death was just the beginning of the shitshow that 2020 has been :(
The world lost an astounding musician, brilliant mind, and a truly fine person. I still cry😢💝
Best song off of Snakes and Arrows and a bona-fide classic.
I give Workin' Them Angela the nod, but this is damn close!
@@eric618 Yes! WTA is a GREAT song too!
This might be their best song off that album but without a doubt the most fun one to play on bass is malignant narcissism
this is the song that got me into rush. i remember it clear as day, 2007, riding in the back of my dads chevy s10 on my way to preschool at age 5. Main Monkey Business was apparently my favorite back then. this is another one.
@@TanMann23 I'm jealous. I wish I had had a dad that was cool enough to introduce me to rush at age 5! I had never heard of them until I was almost 15. Been a fan ever since for over 40 years!🤘
This song was the first Rush song I ever knowingly heard, I was 14 and helping my dad fix the car and the station played a new Rush song. Not really knowing anything from them, I loved this song immediately, and my first Rush album oddly enough ended up being Snakes & Arrows, not 2112 or Moving Pictures or any of the other classics. Crazy how Rush was still writing such great stuff right until the end.
I’m 65. Saw Rush at Columbus Ohio in 73. Absolutely Stunning
First saw Rush when I was 18 at Kings Cross Cinema now Scala in London I'm 70 now what a phenomenal band
Thank you Neil, Alex, and Geddy.
Rest in peace, Neil. Your lyrics have changed my life.
"Dancing fires on the beach singing songs together though its just a memory some memories last forever." RIP Neal see you on Cygnus.
AWWWWW,,, Lake Side Park lyrics..... lived 500 feet from there for 6 years...... now live five miles from there........................ its a magical place.
Yeah! Lakeside Park!
From Mr Peart’s own heartbreak, he writes about pushing forward through the pain and difficulties. That’s my take on this song.
This album helped me get through my divorce.
Robert Currie yes if you read the book he wrote and look at the documentary it explains it all. 👍🏽
The first Rush album I ever owned. This track blew my mind upon hearing.
Man, that makes me feel old. The first LP I ever bought was Moving Pictures, a couple years after it was released. :)
As it well should have! Friend, even though a huge chapter has passed, i encourage you to explore there music. It will honestly speak to you. Like this song, when it came out, I was going through alot. The corus alone gave me strength. " if i can get back home! ". ( whew! Brings tears to my eyes) . With what i was going through, this whole album made sense. Friend, listen to all there back catalog. I hate Neil left us, but it wasn't just him. 3 geniuses somehow came together. Friend listen...you will find something in everyone of there songs that will assist you in your journey. You just have to listen. I say it again...." If i can get back home... " 😊
My first Album was Exit …Stage Left. Great start!!!
@Bringette Awnn we don't speak of them. My first album was Hold Your Fire.
"And if the music stops, there's only the sound of the rain. All the hope and glory, all the sacrifice in vain. And if the love remains, though everything is lost, we will pay the price but we will not count the cost." RIP
R.I.P Neil Peart.
If anybody's reading this and wondering why these lyrics don't match up to anything in this song, it's because the lyrics are from a song called "Bravado" from the Roll The Bones album.
Look for a version of Bravado on a pirate called, 'Invisible Passions'.
This song kicks more ass than other bands entire careers
Well said.
Facts
One of the heaviest riffs I've ever heard and it's from Rush! In standard tuning no less! 🤯 I love it :)
I remember when they released this single... my jaw went through the floor. I hadn't heard them play this rough and full of a mix since One Little Victory on Vapor Trails. I live this sound for them. The raw power those 3 could put out was staggering and yet never muddy or unintelligible.
That bass line kicks major ass too. Like I'm as impressed with guitar as with the bass.
Musical artistry, unforgettable lyrics, lessons in every song.. i miss Neil more and more each day... i can honestly say whenever i'm in a deep emotional state; happy, sad, confused, i can find an phrase, an answer, a thought that gets me by in a RUSH song... Poet Laureate of the 21st century
Ditto 👌
Incredibly eloquent summation. 100% agree. : )
This is a heavy song musically, and it was released in the 2000s by a band that charted in the 70s alongside Pink Floyd and the Stones
This album is a one of their best.
❤yes!! Absolutely right about Clockwork Angels!! Fantastic masterpiece to end their legendary era!!!
One of my favourites. Rush is awesome!
Yeah budday!
Yes sirrrr
Y'know how good Rush is? My psychologically abusive stepdad played Rush every day driving me to school while yelling at me. By all logic I should hate Rush. I should have too many bad memories associated with Rush to listen to them. But they're so good that I still love them. Even when they remind me of him, I still love them. That's how legendarily good this band is. Nothing personal can define them.
As a major fan whose seen them 17 times, this is one of their best songs
One of my favorite Rush songs from Snakes and Arrows (2007) written by Mr. Peart aka the Professor
RIH
Snakes and Arrows is simply a masterpiece!!!
good question
Rest in piece, dear Professor.
RIP Neil. Thank you for everything ❤
I never really listened to Rush, cause idk: this is one of the most beautiful rock songs I've ever heard.
Please make all of the Rush videos watchable in the United States! I miss watching "Roll the Bones", "The Pass", and also "Show Don't Tell"!!!
Rest in Peace Niel. You changed my life.
X2
Up there with their very best songs. Best played ag extremely high volume.
RUSH == Best band in the world, live performances are unreal. :)
Yup!!
I remember when this album came out for the first time, it was so exciting to hear something new from them, it was like watching the moon landing, like a part of history right before my eyes. Sad, grown up as a Rush fan, I always wanted to see them play live, but I was too late. But i'm beyond grateful I was able to experience their music, and im sure many others feel the same way.
Nowadays everyone throws around the term "prog rock" with Rush so often that it's seeped into the collective unconscious. I don't have a problem with the label, however, to us long-time fans, back in the day that term was never used for them, it's a modern labelling. It doesn't do justice to how hard and loud and powerful this band rocked. They were the Gods of Thunder live. I wouldn't call them heavy metal, but they were more in that camp than in the camp of, say, King Crimson (who I also love, for different reasons).
This song is helping me get thru very hard times right now. Blessed I was able to see this LIVE twice!!
Thank you Neil, Geddy, and Alex ❤️🤘 #Rush4Life and RIP NEIL 🙏
Video producer: How much stoner shit you want in the video?
Rush: Yes
You know that all 3 of them were stoners in the 80’s and 90’s right
@@zackstump5425 They don’t seem like the type of people to be stoners. Don’t ya think?
@@coltan1521 They had a song about smoking weed on the 2112 album. They were definitely stoners.
@@elimalinsky7069 Huh I never knew that, I only listened to 2112 and not the other songs. That’s a very interesting fact.
@@coltan1521 Go listen to A Passage to Bangkok and tell me if you still don't think they were stoners!😎
Re-discovering their last few albums after I had kinda drifted away from Rush, and then the passing of Neil was a such shock that I put my collection away for a long time. I’m appreciating the genius of this too-brief era more than ever!
This song moved into my top five the first time I heard it. Musical genius!!!
This song came out the week my mom died of cancer and helped me keep a frame of mind . Neil's parents have gone through hell and I wish them well
Been there no one understands.they say that they do. But they don't. But it's ok let yourself off the hook you did everything you could.
Just continue the fight for yourself. And I do not know you. Fight for your kids. Hey I've been face in gutter, but I just never say die. Fight.
Never give up
Never say die
Rash will always be the greatest!
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite albums from Rush R.I.P Neil
Glorious. No letting up from start to finish. Neil's drumming absolutely top notch and Alex's guitar like a buzzsaw
I have been listening to RUSH since the early 80's. This song is AMAZING. MuSiCaL Geniuses. ♥ RUSH FAN for LIFE. They get more BAD-ASS the older they get - lol!
Yes,truly Hall of Fame.............
Down tune that riff during the first 40secs and it'd be the heaviest shit Rush has played
Far Cry is as good as any rock song you will ever hear.
Here's to the Master himself, Neil Peart. Thanks, Neil.
Gone but never forgotten
RIP Neil
THA PROFFESAH!!!!!!!!
that bridge into chorus...oh my god...
A young Geddy doppelganger in this video!! Hey, hey, haaa!!😚😁👍🤟
This great song dosen’t get enough credit
Backing vocals are subtle but make the song so much better. Cool tune fellas!
Such an outstanding track...as with Rush....you think you have a fav track......then another comes along
This would've blown peoples minds if it came out in the late 60s early 70s... they came up with this track as quick as black sabbath came came up with paranoid
up to 11,sweet baby jesus what a track, this album really is awesome!
Revisiting a lot of the back catalogue over the last couple of weeks. This is a great song.
Only been to two concerts in my life. Time machine, and their 40th year anniversary which was their last tour. I have my dad to thank for that. Rush is truly the best 3 piece band to ever exist
Saw this tour san Antonio 2007 man rain didn't stop RUSH rip to the greatest DRUMMER the master Neil peart I've ever heard
Here’s the thing. Rush can’t release anything bad
Why doesn't this have more views???
Jim is this you listening to Rush
@@kimberleeswisher3414 yes, but I don’t know you.
Funny this is probably my favourite Rush album! It came out when I was 16 and I went too see them live with my brother and Dad.
They are my dad's favourite band and some of my earliest memories I can recall hearing rush music. But this was the album I listened to when I started properly listening to them 😅
Out of synch with the weather and wind direction, the sunrise & the phases of the moon, seeing the daily variations & seasonal migrations; we are at present constant reactions in a world of the unlikely and bizarre!
This is the m f mix!!!!!!!! In a recopilation they seemed to changed the original mix. Nope. The Snakes album has the correct mix.
And maybe this is their best video ever! The Ring meets t00l
Yessss, the Professor!!!!!!!
Neil, rest in peace. One day the world will realize what you truly were, a genius with incredible talent.
I Saw this. I had no idea that this was the last time I would see Peart. But I saw it you were there too. Great shows
One of their best, and I have them all!
An incredible song by Rush in the latter part of their career-yes they will always be able to 'get back home' because they're that good.
Rush can STILL rock!
May God Bless Neil Peart, he will be missed
Neil was an Atheist 😅
was Neil an Atheist?
@@VB-vl1tg I bet he's not an Atheist anymore .
Scene Rush 27 times. All the shows are awesome. Boy do I miss Neil
That chorus is so apt in 2021.
Been a Rush fan since the early eighties, this song is still in my top 5
Love this song!
Just Really Heavy! Great adrenaline- Rush?
Amazing track ... yet again that "Cygnus X-1" guitar chord !!!
Excellent track 😎🤟
this 480p makes me feel like it's 2007 again, RIP NEIL 💙
Such a cool track! He's talking about being ahead of the wheel. Back in the 80's its was between the wheel. Peart was such a great writer.
In Red Barchetta, man is 'behind the wheel'. Albeit in a different sense. Then on Grace Under Pressure "Between the Wheels". Then on Snakes & Arrows he is ahead! Full course. Then Clockwork Angels he stoked the fire of the great steel wheel. So not only is he now above them... he has gained control over them! The full course completed.
@@vj9988 Love it!
The best music ever to come from Canada.
The way they come out of the chaos of the guitar solo and slip back into the chorus (3:56) is pure Rush. Masterful! Reminds me of the Beach Boys good vibrations.
Heavy metal !!!
Not exactly
Quality! Thanks for posting.
An Awesome song. RIP Neil Peart
This song is simply beautiful and shows so much creative energy. Listen to how they compact the last time through the prechorus and how they extend the opening motif at the end, letting Neil kind of bounce and roll down a mountainside. And I love the jaunty double ride pattern Neil uses in the choruses and Alex’ decision to just bend up and shake single notes for a solo. Of this song Alex said it was as if they already knew it when they were writing and recording it. Geddy said, “We had a good day.”

What a great freaking song !
Yes sir!
I have to say as one of the biggest Rush fans, if they would have just set up in the middle of a corn field it would have been entirely less corny than this video. This song is way to good for this video.
This song has aged so fucking well
Best band ever
This still sounds awesome - and Neil writes it truly
Superb
that bass line... holy crap
The hemispheres chord!!!!
I know exactly the one!!!
To produce a song that sounds like this is just unbelievable. It proves that Rush still got it in 2007. Next was 2012 w. Clock work angels.
I had forgotten why Rush is so awesome, but this song reminds me of why
Scotty, How could you ever forget about how amazing Rush is? Did aliens perform a mind wipe to make you forget?
this song kicks major ass
Great cut. Much underrated.
F I R E !!!!!
they NEED to do more!! so fucking love RUSH
Instrumental:100/10
It's a sad situation when I only seen this amazing band once in 2012... I was born in the wrong decade...
I've seen this video on TV more than 10 years ago and it astonished me. Unfortunatelly the show didn't told the band's name. Happy to see this again after so many time
So dam good.
