There was immense power scaling towards the end, but the vast majority of the fights, including the Kaguya fight relied on tactics to outsmart the opponent. I get triggered when I see comments like yours that say "I miss the show when it was about....". The same people who whine are the ones who don't pay attention to the smart tactics used by Naruto and the team, but has no problem in drooling all over a well-choreographed fight like Madara vs the Shinobi Alliance, that hardly has any tactics.
I remember being so hyped about this fight, as well as for Neji's development. I was sooo intrigued with the Byakugan, so I was so happy to see it get a good fight. I vividly remember going "I can't wait to see a sharingan vs byakugan battle in the future!!!" Too bad Kishimoto didn't develop the byakugan like he did the sharingan. Cause Naruto series is about the sage of six path Hagoromo's lineage, which branch out to Senju/Uzumaki and Uchiha. In the Boruto series we might see more of Hamura's lineage, which is the ancestor of Hyuuga clan and Kaguya clan(Kimimaro's clan). But since Kaguya clan is no more, they are mixing Hyuuga lineage with Uzumaki lineage. Himawari has Byakugan and Boruto has Jougan. I wonder if Himawari would awaken Tenseigan like in the Naruto movie.
Out of alll of the sound 4 I think spider guy was the strongest. He was strategic and had Jutsu that would have easily overwhelmed any of the other genin 5. Just goes to show how strong Neji is here.

Basically much harder to deflect or throw off course. In manga Neji catch up to Kidomaru while we has still falling (yes he speedblitzed him in that state) and he literally shit diff him in 1 panel with series of junken attacks and make kidomaru spin on air and fall on the floor like a splat.
