13:54 I just got this Baiser yesterday, it’s actually not that bad, I’m happy with her, I also have the Kadokawa figure of her, they’re both nearly the same scale. And looking at them from 3 feet away you barely notice a difference, it’s only when you really inspect them do you notice that the Kadokawa has better fine detail. But if you’re only getting one figure of her I’d actually go with the Pop, I think it actually has better likeness to the character.
Very respectable choices!! - I personally felt like there are way too many good budget figures this year and it's a great thing for us consumers going forward.
4:38 I thought that was PA-15 from Girls Frontline. 6:57 Hahaha and you’re always crapping on Kotobukiya, I love Kotobukiya, they make some of my favourite figures, I’m a huge fan of them.
Be careful about Spiritale's Black Rock Shooter figure before placing your order. The assembly is a nightmare and the product has serious QC issues, be prepared to repair your figure cause the cheap plastic rod / handle will break easily.
When I was watching the video, I was thankful I decided on only buying figures from games/anime I know about. Especially for Chun Li, New Jersey, and M950A. The best figure of the ones I bought this year was Kamisato Ayaka from Genshin. I also liked (but did not buy) Illya and Kuro from Fate (Claynel), Wakamo from Blue Archive (Neonmax), Yukino Yukinoshita from Yahari (GSC).
I had a similar problem actually. I delayed buying a lot of FGO figures because of the big overhaul of my camera gear in 2024 where i sold off my older stuff to upgrade to newer models that will make my job easier for the channel.
26:22 Oh I have this Bombergirl Grim Aloe, her aftermarket has jumped up to over ¥40k for an “A” grade. I’m going to get all the figures of her, I love them all. 34:19 Yea this figure is amazing, and ¥40k is a steal for this & everything that you get, compare it with nearly every other ¥40k figure & there’s no comparison, this is amazing. And I love the flame effect, rather than have big terrible looking support rods they used flame effects.
Surtr is a really beautiful figure for the price. She is pretty static and can only be displayed with her base, but that's a compromise that let them capture the art it's based on so perfectly. The colors are also vibrant, and she's just nice to look at. Takes me back to a time when this price point would be considered the high end hahaha *cries in 37k yen Alter scales*
I haven't received the New Jersey figure yet but the best figure I had this year is Good Smile Company Shakugan no Shana The Flame-Haired Burning-Eyed Hunter Shana, it is so beautiful as the wing is spreading out and painting and shading on the figure is among the best I seen so far.
That Shana was actually shortlisted by me, but in the end got beaten out by other figures narrowly. Partly because the figure felt quite expensive for the size - it wasn't very big the last time i remembered seeing it in person
I had the shuten doji preordered but cancelled it after thinking about it for a few months. not a huge fan of the face, and the base gave me concerns. going to have to rethink about it once it releases and maybe pick it up then. solid top 10 i definitely want the BRS one at some point.
Nice to know. I prefer to take screen shots rather than saving the pics directly because it is easier to credit the author that way, with the name visible on top
I was happy to see Honkai: Star Rail Tingyun on the list because I just got her and my only gripe is that she is 1/10, if she scales up to 1/7 I think she could be one of the best. The detailing for such a small figure though is amazing, there are now rough edges on the paint even on her weapons, all immaculate. I don't even play the game but had to have her. I also got second hand Myethos Surtr and while the paint and design is amazing I was a lil disappointed that the feel was very plasticy, like it was more a toy than figure. But my fav purchase was Neonmax Mois 1/6, the detailing is great and those thighs could become a new religion. She does a lil QC issues as there are some visible glue marks and the paint can be a bit off around her waist and whoever decided to make her hair partially transparent is an idiot. But even with all that she is just so beautiful that all those hardly matter.
Incoming wall of text!! Here are my top 5 purchased figures released in 2024: 1. Remilia Scarlet by Alter A very good vampire figure. I like her smug face so much, and the overall composition and paint job make her the best for me. Alter's tier 1 craftmanship has perfectly recreate all the details from the artwork. She just feels complete. I wish I had gotten her sister as well :( 2. Elysia by Apex Toy I was so surprised when I got her because she is very large with incredible details everywhere. The hair is amazing, even if you can’t see it when displaying her. Weirdly, I feel most users’ photos don’t do her justice. Elysia is truly embodiment of beauty! Oh, and bonus points for not having to assemble anything. 3. Rice Shower by GSC Not much to say, but she’s high on the list because of the character itself, her cute expression, and her pose. Sometimes, simple is best. Asleep by Magic Bullet A pretty standard 18+ figure, but her sleeping face is very good, and her pose on the sofa makes her quite a large figure. The alternative parts are very lewd and unique in their own way. She gets extra points for being a JK! Le Malin by Alter A very good sleepy face, a nice pose, and a great outfit. Bonus points for being force cast-off-able and a loli character.
Since this video is about figures, not statues, I'm not going to mention the studio. However, the big-scale 2B statue that released this year really saved me thousands of dollars because now I feel too uninterested to buy any bishōjo figures that are smaller and less detailed than that. In fact, I haven’t bought anything at all, lol.
Well i find it hard to decide how to define the word statue. Is it just the size? Because we certainly call FREEing's 1/4 bunnies "figures" rather than statues, yet Resin ones of the same scale are called statues.
@@EXkurogane Generally I think it's combination of 1/5 scale or larger, made of resin or polystone, and have ridiculous fancy bases that function as a mini diorama or explosive movement. Sure there are PVC figures with fancy bases, they're treated as centerpieces but not as statues. Then there are the ubiquitous 1/4 bunnies with simple bases, a few of them especially the unlicensed ones I'm sure are made of resin, but they are not mentioned in the same breadth as the statue brands.
12:00 honestly the adult Mai isn't very good, seriously prize figures are better than that especially the face. She also appear a bit too slim. I will at least give them credit for the better loli Mai pose, which is a bit more dynamic than Sega's attempt. I still not sure if the face is actually accurate though. Cute, but kinda off.
The elongated face is because of distortion from a smartphone's wide angle camera. Maybe it was also slim in the actual figure but the camera made it look even worse. I factored that in when making my judgement
I'm glad Surtr got her recognition. She is coming back in Arknights Endfield as Laevatain.

If you think there are too many in 2024, there will be more in 2025

So it is fragile eh. Well, that is a common problem with overly complex figures but thanks, i will bear in mind when i do get one.

I regret I didn't preorder that Max Factory Chun Li. Just because i need more budget to build my new PC this year...

@@EXkurogane oh man, the Good Smile Arts Shanghai Azur Lane Owari also in my chase list, headache XD

16:42 I didn’t know they made Fran!😮
23:18 its still pronounced K - D - A, not Kayda, but its ok, i love ur vids, thank you once again for this list

I saw a whole lot of 1/4 Yuna at the akiba Amiami store a few days ago. Today when I went again, she was all gone 😂
my 2024 personal favourite is myethos spirit blossom ahri
Lmfaooo that's my elysia photo at 19:59 🤣

Did you count re-releases? Or there's something wrong with cuirassier noir?
Yeah, i forgot to mention in the video - re-releases do not count.

Yes, I think it is defined by the material used to make the sculpture.
