    Jean,
    Thank you so much for explaining that you enjoy the tedious process, I also enjoy the process, some of my friends think what I do is boring. Until, I have completed a project, then they want what I have completed.
    I love this craft and can't imagine my life without it. I love watching video's and getting idea's, and seeing patterns I may have missed at my local shop. It is never boring to me.

    Oh, so sorry that you had to record this episode twice! I enjoyed seeing your system of floss organization and choosing colors for a design. I have switched to Cosmo and adopted the ring method by numbers. I love Cosmo floss, too! I bought a Cosmo color card, which has helped me when converting a design from DMC to Cosmo. I wish more designers used Cosmo.

    Thank you, Jean! I’m the gal from Facebook who asked you about the belt organizer you used. This video answered all my questions-thank you! I’m now on the hunt for one similar to yours. Once I’m able to transfer my floss from bags stored in boxes to thread drops stored vertically, that will free up an entire shelf where I will then be able to store my ongoing projects rather than on the floor under a table where they are now. This new storage plan will be a game changer for my sewing room! Thank you!!!

    Thanks again for another great video...even with doing it twice! I am a retired healthcare professional so having abbreviations or acronyms is just a normal part of my day. I have now added "DIP" to my stitching vocabulary. I especially appreciated your discussion about choosing colors. The way colors look when next to other colors, background or different types of light takes me back to a stitching group we had at our LNS which closed. One friend and I would spend the entire evening comparing colors against one or two fabrics under my Ottlite to see what worked best! And I am still frustrated when the gradations of color don't have enough 'steps' for me! Thanks again. Your videos are always a highlight for me!

    Your have an amazing grasp of this hobby. The ability to explain WHAT you are doing, WHY you are doing it, HOW you are doing it, WHO you are doing it for and maybe even WHERE you are doing it are all included in this video. I taught 2nd grade and these are the questions I would write on the board for them to answer even in a short book report. Thank you for sharing with us. I am learning so much. I have watched this video on New Years Day to day, so have a Happy New Year. I"ll keep watching.

    Thank you Jean ,it was fascinating to see your process for picking colours. I always wondered how you got to the final colour choice. I love the photo box idea. I do not bobinate either but was struggling to find compact storage for full skeins. These will do the job nicely. I always learn something from your videos.

    I put my floss in bags, insert an index card and put them chronologically in photo boxes. I think I have 7 or 8 decorative boxes that I store in a bookshelf. Now I have no need for all these project bags. I have one very large project bag for my charts and that’s it. When I buy a new chart I buy whatever floss I need and store it away until I’m ready to start that project. This works for me because I’m a monogamous stitcher.

    I put my mostly used Christmas colors on rings like this, and my DMC variegated ones also. I hang the rings on a wooden dowel that is on the back of my craft room door, held up with those temporary 3M hooks. All the rest go into storage boxes, and my Overdyes go into plastic photo storage boxes by color.

    Thank you for showing us your floss storage and thought process for picking colors. I also use the photo storage box for my DMC that is not on floss drops. I recently tried Cosmo thread and love how smooth and soft it is. I guess I'll have to get another photo box when my Cosmo stash gets bigger. I was wondering if you have an opinion on using fusible interfacings on the back of stitching when making soft finishes like small pillows for bowls, stawberries or other things like that. I am also a quilter/sewer and not a big fan of fusible projects, but I see a lot of finishers on RUclips videos using them. I can never get the fusibles to stick properly and I'm concerned that the adhesive will damage the stitched piece over time. Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks!

    It’s helpful to see how you organize your floss. I’m curious as to whether or not you also keep some sort of inventory so as to know where to look for some particular color.

    • @JeanFarishNeedleworks
      @JeanFarishNeedleworks  2 года назад +1

      No inventory. For my "designer set" I start with the color card which tells me which column I need (1-10) which leads me to the proper box (1-5 or 6-10). When I need a skein from the "stitching set" in the 5 x 7 boxes, I am looking for a certain number so I go to the proper box (400 - 449 or 450 - 499 for example). It's usually pretty easy to find what I want because I know what the color is. The last set, on thread drops, is also easy because the 100's are together, and the 200's are together, etc. I hope this makes sense!

    I enjoyed seeing your storage, and I think looking through and choosing from all the beautiful colors is the most fun. I will have to look for Cosmo floss next time I get to a shop. I am also using your sponge and small container idea and it is such a big help! Do you have a special chair or area in your home where you stitch for enjoyment? Can you show us?

    • @JeanFarishNeedleworks

      I stitch in a recliner or on the couch with my feet up. I'll have to think about whether or not I want the world to see me in my natural habitat! :)

      @carolanncurrid8246 2 года назад

      @@JeanFarishNeedleworks I understand! I was wondering if you have an special “set-up” like a light, lap table, or how you set up your environment. I love my recliner too. I’ve found a lap desk with a small bright light on it to be really helpful lately.

    Great ideas for floss storage. Thank you. I downsized and no longer have a dedicated craft room. The idea of vertical storage in a closet is perfect for me. I do have one question, do you cover your hangers of floss with anything to protect from dust? I was thinking of reusing plastic grocery bags over top of the hangers as a means of protecting from dust.
