Hi Dan nice to see you again. I"m a N scale modeler but these videos are very well done and mostly NOT scale specific. I think the best tutorial stuff on RUclips on the topic of trains.
Thanks, I'm glad you are finding them useful even though you're in N. To a large degree, modeling is modeling. Aside from the obvious size difference, one of the other issues is the availability of parts. But a lot of stuff, like working with styrene, is the same. Thanks for watching!
Ha! So THIS is where you went. SO GLAD to see trains here (Yes. Shouting.) Going through all the new (to me) content now, and love what I'm seeing so far. I think your 'new' review scale/grading is indeed helpful to discerning modeller.. and if something does get a perfect 100, I'll surely it up in my seat. But building/painting and modelling tips are my faves, Eager to watch this consist develop. And I had it in my head that Micro Sol, not Set, was what one used. I also had it in my head that once 'sealed' with a clearcoat, game over, so big thanks for that 'tips' episode, too.
Thanks for finding my channel! I'm glad you're enjoying the reviews and the tips series. I have yet to find that perfect 100 point model, but it's probably out there.
Awesome how to video on how to detail diesel engines. I like your new videos. More pleasant than the TSG videos meaning it's more step by step installation of details.
Thanks Dan best video yet !! not the at all like the current TSG offerings : head shots and talking about himself or showing somebody else's layout... Your narration is pleasant and attention to detail is masterful. I am having to move to a new home and need to secure the San Pedro Mt. Rail Road for the trip to what I hope will be my forever home. So I needed some tips on safely storing current projects.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video. The next installment is in progress, and I'm trying to make it as comprehensive as possible. Moving is a pain for sure. Good storage boxes really help protect fragile models, which is one reason I've been talking more about boxes in my videos. Thanks for watching!
Dan, I'm super excited to see this video series progress. Your work inspires me and the videos like this you did on the other channel were my favorite. I'm glad you're going to continue doing them here.
Your picture of EMDX 769 has a unpainted Nathan P3 horn while your model has a Leslie RS3L. Idk how picking your going to get but I want to send a friendly tip your way.
SP's SD45Rs were rebuilt by SP in their Sacramento shops. I believe they retained their original 20 cylinder prime movers. SD40M-2s were built by Morrison Knudsen / Boise and used 16 cylinder prime movers, basically making them mechanically equivalent to an SD40-2. SD40M-2s were also built using car bodies from several different locomotive types, so they could look like SD40s, SD45s, or even SDP45s. Thanks for watching!
Hi there Dan, I have personally learnt a lot from your videos. I am just wondering what size of fiber optic you use for the marker lights compared to the main headlights of your locomotives? Thank You
Yea Yea Yea. Blah blah blah. Another great video Dan with a different yet interesting perspective. Allow me to ask the question no one else seems to be. Where oh where, did you find those plastic container boxes. They are perfect for my needs. Most importantly, are they still available?
The boxes are by Really Useful Box. They come in a bunch of different sizes. I think I got mine at Orchard Supply Hardware, but other hardware stores, Staples, and other places carry the brand. Thanks for watching!
Super BEAUTIFUL model
Thanks so much!

I am trying to do things a little differently here and hopefully make them more comprehensive. I'm glad you like it so far. Thanks for watching!
This will be a great series.
I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for watching!

Me, too! I've had these on my build list for years. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching!
Great Video Dan! That’s a sweet consist. Believe those lease GP38-2s were Conrails. Excited on this series!
Yes, I think 769 and many of its sister units were ex Conrail. Thanks for watching!
OK looking forward to another EPIC series, great start.
Thanks!
Great video!
Thanks for watching!
on the edge of my seat for the next video.
I hope you enjoy the series. Thanks for watching!
Awesome stuff, Dan. Looking forward to the series.
Thanks for watching!
Golly, there sure were a lot of parts to remove. Great video Dan. Who was catching the parts as they disappeared off camera?
No catcher, just a long counter. And no carpet. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching!

Hmm... I'll have to check that out. Maybe there will be something to do to 769 after all. Thanks for watching!
Really, does it matter.....its a model, a model that he built and painted....
What is the difference between a SD45R and a SD40M-2?
SP's SD45Rs were rebuilt by SP in their Sacramento shops. I believe they retained their original 20 cylinder prime movers. SD40M-2s were built by Morrison Knudsen / Boise and used 16 cylinder prime movers, basically making them mechanically equivalent to an SD40-2. @@DanielCortopassi thanks for the info. Also, are any SD45Rs still on the rails?
Nice video!!
Thanks for watching!
Nice video! I am excited to see how the models turn out
Me, too! Thanks for watching!
How's going this Project ?? Its don't has more videos in 2021
There will be more videos. I haven't put one out yet this year so far. Thanks for watching!
Can’t wait to see the results! Did SP use any LMX leasers?
I'm not sure, but I think most of the LMX units were on BN. Thanks for watching!
Hi there Dan, I have personally learnt a lot from your videos. I am just wondering what size of fiber optic you use for the marker lights compared to the main headlights of your locomotives?
Thank You
I use .030 for headlights and .020 for marker/class lights. Thanks for watching!
:-)
"...like most of you, I tend to work on more than one thing at a time most of the time"
I knew I wasn't the only one! Thanks for watching!

What happened with TSG?
I don't want to make any public comments about that right now. Someday I'll tell my side of it. Thanks for watching!
