    I am an actual luthier, and your hobbyist methods have yet to bother me in the slightest. Getting the precision and desired outcome matters, the methods of getting there do not. The amount of improv we use to troubleshoot and reach the precise measurements that we aim for is ridiculous. Especially with tools. Like blacksmiths, if we don't have the tool/the tool we need doesn't exist, we make it ourselves.

    • @johncollins5552

      It's still ridiculous that a World famous, long established guitar company produces a guitar that fails in its basic function out of the gate due to design flaws. A trem arm that functions properly isn't rocket science and should not require attention from a Luthier or anybody else frankly.

    • @gringogreen4719
      @gringogreen4719 Год назад +2

      I agree with you about things should be good off the bat. The main issue is that you have two nonuniform issues. The first one is that humans so things subtly different each time we do things, so that can manifest in little imperfections here and there.
      The other one is the nature of the wood itself. It takes years for that wood to realize it is no longer a tree and now a guitar. Also as it ages it lets out water weight and that make s a huge difference in sound and feel. Add to that a inexpensive guitar is made in volume and there is an acceptable amount of guitars that just will not be AS good as they should.
      Even well known luthiers and builders have to fight little variables or find workarounds to WHAT SHOULD WORK. I would point at the recent QC issues Fender is having and Gibson is well known for that even on expensive guitars, shit still does happen.
      If you ever get a chance to play like five of the same guitar (year, vintage, model) and you will see just how all the little subtle differences add up on guitars from the same line.😉👍✨

      That may be, or not, but I’m glad for the little imperfections that cheaper instruments provide for us. For me, I like the fact that this guitar has a clanky trem because that’s what I use it for. It’s a selling point for me in a good way. I don’t go up and down with my trem much at all. I like to just give it a little “clank” or a lot of clanks and then even more clanks whenever I want to elicit instant feedback at bedroom level volumes with cascaded fuzzes. The clanking of metal on metal gives you endless sonic possibilities at your instant disposal that a non-clanking trem won’t give you. For me and what I do I prefer trems that clank. Trems that don’t clank I find kind of boring @@johncollins5552

    You're 100% right - the Aluminium neck looks soooo good. Something about the colour. At least, that's the way it looks from Internet Land.
    As far as drilling being a one-way choice, I wonder about two things:
    1) Is it friction between the pocket and the heel which holds the neck in place, or does holding the screws solidly in the body contribute? Perhaps the screws are only there to clamp the two together, creating that friction.
    2) Is the reason most neck screw holes are such a tight fit to stop them from wiggling, or is it to ensure neck alignment prior to tightening the screws?
    In other words, I wonder if you might be able to get away with screw holes wide enough to accommodate either neck.

  • @grayman7914

    I bought a 3p90 hardtail version a couple years ago and it had the same damage around the neck plate. I figured out that the body wood was just very soft so tightening down the neckplate a little hard cracked the paint. I put a combo of Wilkinson Premium (discont) and Guitarmadness P90's in it and it was a good guitar. The TOM bridge on my model with the neck radius caused some strings to fret out at higher register, so I recommend NOT getting the TOM model. Otherwise a fun guitar.
