He’s blessed with an ancestral curse of music, and he’s not in control of he has a 10,000 year old spirit that plays through him and I see it clearly. You’re reading an awful lot into it. That might or might not be his reason, but how is he not just buckethead 2.0? It’s a super-forced art schooly affectation that actually distracts from his music. EG this comment thread.
@@theGefilteFist you can say that i'm reading into it, but it's his own words. in his interview with fender he says "initially i just wanted to be seen but i also wanted people to see something else other than what i was going through at the time. it really is like a blanket for me or a force field i guess". Look at his body language and general disposition in interviews: eyes lowered, poor eye contact, no certainty in his speech, zero conviction in any of the things he says. All signs of a person who is estranged from himself and hiding behind his music and persona/alter ego. It's right there in front of you if you just open your eyes and look. Soo many musicians are this way. One last piece of evidence: Dywane and I are the same age (i was born two months earlier). I was exactly this way when I was in my early 20's (musically inclined, grew up in a small town, had a father who was closed off to me and punished me for being vulnerable, socially isolated, shy). I wasn't a super great bassplayer or popular on youtube and didn't have much encouragement around me, so I self reflected and (for the most part) was able to break out of these habits. Dywane remained the same, and will remain the same until he grows up. That's all I have to say.

That was the point of the tone he wanted... It wasnt really fret buzz but rather fret smackin. It makes his accents on the notes more funky.
