I bought plastic cutting boards at Dollar Tree and made templates from the plastic. It's almost like the template plastic that you buy at the quilt store only its a lot less expensive. Trace around the template! Viola! No pin holes!
Thanks 🙏
Thank you so much for making this tutorial. I attended a class to make one and they all say read the instructions. I find them hard to follow. I found this video so easy to follow and know where i was not getting it right. Thank you again. Novice quilter here
I love your videos. Thank you for going slowly and explaining so well as you go. Keep up the great work
I just got this pattern, thank you so much for this AWESOME video, it was so detailed and easy to follow !
I’m just now finishing my first XL Clam Up bag. Your video is outstanding and extremely helpful!! Thank you so much! Happy to be a new subscriber!!
Those bags are so cute Margaret! I am going to have to try and make some myself. Thank you for sharing.
Love your tutorials Margaret! You are a good teacher with clear directions! Thank you for sharing!
Another idea would be to use pattern weights. They don’t need to be expensive, go to your neighbourhood hardware store and pick up some large washers. I would probably buy 20 or so and that would give you 4 or 5 weights. Depends on what you plan to make of course. Once you have your washers wrap 4 or 5 in a scrap of fabric and just tie some thread, floss or twine around the excess at the top. It gives you a little handle and looks cute too.
Absolutely beautiful bags. Excellent tutorial. Thank you😀
Thanks for info.on the fabric you chose.i would not have thought of that fabric!!!
Will use
I use pattern weights when I don't want to pin a fabric. My pattern weights are just big nuts and washers from the hardware store.
Me too
Thank you! ❤️
Pattern weights, even if just tuna cans or larger/taller and/or trace the pattern with chalk, pencil, etc. A new product that are magnets that hold fabrics in place to sew when pins or clips aren't appropriate called Sewtites. Regular and Heavy Duty. You may be able to find/create these as a DIY alternative.
I would try Clover double sided tape to keep the pattern in place for cutting. Cute bag
Excellent Tutorial! Thank you so much! I needed help with using Directional Fabric. I do not understand the directions to cut two 9 1/2"x14. Pls help. Thx
Margaret I just Love the fabric
I'd draw around the pattern straight onto the fabric and cut it out from the outline.
I love these little bags! I made three of them last summer, and really enjoy them. The medium one is great for electronic cords and chargers when traveling!
Deb Keller can you please give me the measurements? My email address is nancyucrosson@gmail.com

Would it help to have serrated scissors for cutting the laminated cotton fabric? Any you would recommend?
Thank you so much you were so helpful
Hey, Margaret! Nice video. Have you ever thought of using 2 smaller zippers and having them meet in the middle? I have lots of surplus garment zippers that I would like to use up and trying to figure out how that might work. Thinking that a pro like you could figure it out! Thanks!
I just bought this pattern, thanks so much!
P.B. Creel where did you buy this pattern?
@@nancycrosson6644 Amazon
I'm wondering why you didn't first cut out a rectangle first- than place and clip the pattern to it ?
Thanks .
I wish you could show us how you install the zipper.
So cute! I wish I could grow past the need for visuals. I’m afraid to purchase the pattern and materials without having the confidence of inserting the zipper. I appreciate all of your tutorials and the time you dedicate in videoing them. Thank you!
Byannie.com has several free tutorials, also one on Fat Quarter Shop you tube channel with Annie showing zipper installation, not for this particular pattern though. I did purchase a Byannie pattern from her website. That included a code to be able to watch the add on video for free for that pattern. This pattern Margaret has described here probably has an add on video that would demonstrate the zipper installation.
the zipper is an easy part, do it. If you can find a class, go. I did one at my local quilt shop. Ask if they will do a class if they dont. My shop always takes suggestions and usual will put the class on. good luck
Where did you buy your plastic fabric? We don’t have any in our fabric shops.
Is it possible to get the measurements?
Does the kit includes the pattern.
I understand it is vinyl coated….would it be possible to trace the pattern onto the material to make it easier to cut ? Just a thought.
HELLO HOW DO I GET THIS PATTERN
I love your vinyl coated pattern and color, it’s beautiful that I never see in store, could you please Introduce the store or web to me? Tks❤
Really cute and easy!!
What is the stitch length for the bag?
Could you trace the pattern on the fabric?
You are the best teacher! Thank you 🙌🙏
Tab on wrong side?
Your fabric is face up but is the fabric folded to where you cut two?
Margret I found you. lol. Great to see you.
Do you sell these bags? I would like to buy a couple of them.
I traced the pattern on the vinyl, made it easy to cut out the pattern.
That is exactly what I would do
I traced the pattern on a cereal box!
I would have cut the "bottom" first, straight across so I could get the clips on it to keep it from slipping.
Is the padding sponge or what? What is its type ?
Soft and stable from byannie.com
Really wanted to see the zipper sewn in
Do you have cc
Weird the don’t have you cut on the fold
Thank you for this video. BTW is this where you can find the fabric... impwearhome.com/pages/fabric-by-the-yard If links are not allowed I will delete. Thank you in advance.
www.missmarkersquilts.com/shop/Fabric--Kits.htm. This is where you can get the kits. Thanks!
Having bought this pattern and paid for the add on, I have to say your video is much more informative. I found the pattern very lacking in detail.
Trying to watch the byannie add-on videos is a nightmare. Thank you for making one video for this pattern instead of 7. Although if you did make 7, at least yours would have a next arrow.
What is the point of a zipper bag tutorial when you don't show how to put the zipper in.
bopgirl8 Margaret might have made an agreement with the pattern company. She can show a general tutorial, but she can’t include everything so people still have to buy the pattern and instructional videos from byannie.com. This practice is common. Hope this explanation helps! 😀
@bopgirl8
I just hand baste the zipper first, and that avoids having to remove stitches.
Sorry, next time I'll watch the whole video first:)
Putting in the zipper should have been included in this video. There's no valid reason it wasn't.
