Kinda reminds me of Paul Harrel. By being legend and by kinda looking like him in a way. Calm appearance with some slight psycho vibes in a positive way :D don't ask me how that's possible :D :D
I found him after he was suggested. I’m sure it’s because I watched a doc about the epic of Gilgamesh, he has an amazing voice. I don’t even understand the language but I feel it in my soul
"greetings and salutations, people of india, I am a traveler from a distant land called egypt. tonight's song is about our former pharaoh who did great deeds and bold feats of heroism during his reign, may of which are depicted on the murals of my home city memphis. ...so anyway here's wonder wall"
I believe that Mr. Pringle's unique genius lies in his deep instinctive affinity for the culture and the people whose music he is playing. There are many musicians who can accurately play many styles of music on various instruments, but they cannot become one with the people and the times of the music they are playing. Whether Peter sings of Dagda's magic harp while playing the hurdy gurdy, or the song of Gilgamesh on the Sumerian long neck gishgudi, or even The Wanderer on the Saxon lyre: he takes you on a multi dimensional journey transcending time and space. He IS the music. He is the vehicle that takes you home.
@two arrows I recognise this my man, but it was more so his ease with the scalar demands of Indian music I was commenting on, which is notably different and has great complexity. Peter, to my easily pleased ear at least, sounded like he’d been attuned to the Indian conventions of melody for years, hehe.
Perfect, I was listening to the Sumerian song now we get a cross cultural music that only happened because of Alexander’s empire and the Mauryan empire.
Man I wait and wait and wait for a update from your channel pringle, been like this for years. Delightful when something comes up. More wonderful instruments. So much of this is lost by the masses even those of us who would like to go about this music have difficulty finding the instruments, resources, learning aspects of it. If you could go into the instruments you have, how they function, how to learn. All of that would make for fascinating videos. Would love some more educational based videos
Oh, this is perfect peter! As always. You know I was just watching sadhguru talk about Alexander the great in india, and was curious to know more about it. So you must have shown up as divine intervention 🙂 much love 🙏🏻❤
Thank you Peter. I and the world greatly appreciate your revival of ancient music. Please keep doing what you do, what we all love so much as musicians.
Your talent is unreal. I absolutely adore your videos and getting to hear all of these incredible instruments and to get a glimpse of what music looks like in different times and places. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
Music is an expression of love. Thank you for doing what you can, for keeping history alive as if it were but a fraction of a second now in the past so many years ago.
Spectacular Jugalbandi of Sitar and Chitara. As if it was sounded like it sure from an ancient time in an exotic royal court. Thank you sir for recreate the history.
The return of the king! Lol but really, I love the music of this channel, and I'm really glad for the work Peter does here with music history and exploring interesting instruments. ( ◜‿◝ )♡
I was offered a Sitar as a gift on our 20th wedding anniversary and refused (very politely) simply because I couldn't beat the thought of tuning it every time i wanted to play it...
Amazing as always. I'd like to inquire, Mr. Pringle, about the usage of your videos and related audio. I have an educational page and hannel and I'd like to use your rendition of the Epic of Gilgamesh in a video talking about it. I'd obviously point towards the original video and your channel in general. Would that be fine?
Orpheus? Is that you? You know how I know it's you? I got a rock as a paperweight, I'm turning on this music: My rock starts crying. Confused, I go into the next room with my notebook, song still playing: Bonsai starts dancing. So yeah, true identity confirmed ;D
so grateful you share all those amazing creations of all countries... gives us peace in our hearts & mind. Our little Earth is blessed with your talents and dedication... Thank you for being there for us !
Thanks for sharing your wondrous musical talent with the world. Were you ever able to meet Anoushka Shankar or her father Ravi? I think they were both born with sitar’s in their hands.
I bought a small Lyre years ago, & one day I will learn to play, but couldn't ever hold a candle to your playing! WOW Always wished I could play a Sitar, but oh so hard on the fingers!
Yo kinda weird to say this but I just stumbled on to your channel and I just wanted to say that you’re an amazing musician! Thank you for all these wonderful videos!
Oh wooow! Thats the most beautiful thing ! Please could you nake a long Version? Its so beautiful, I hear it any day! One thing Im not understanding, why is it that the lyre is tuned line it is, and not with the flats like in the indian scale specified?

Is there anything this man cannot do?!
I don't think he could possibly be boring.
@Bryan Schmidt
Well observed. I suppose we all must have our limitations, eh?
Survive a full force mauling by a hypo
Once you learn to play one form of an instrument, you can basically play all the forms of instruments in that group.

Can you do some more ancient Egyptian music on an ancient Egyptian lute?
I would belive this song was written in India, a Song of Alexander the Great and his little... Vacation
I live for this channel
Same
Me too. It makes me happy when I'm sad, and even more joyful when I'm already happy.
Sir, your music and channel is pure gold between musty swamps. Thank you for this priceless beauty and mystical, true music.
Peter you really should sing all of Gilgamesh. It’s a big opportunity your are missing
That would be phinominal
Still waiting for an album
I would pay so much and rep it to everyone
While I'd love to hear it, sadly large chunks are missing
How exactly do you sing "lines 36-52 illegible"?
