My prediction: the bears will keep Poles next year and sign Kliff Kingsbury as their head coach. The bears will still be devoid in leadership or direction and suck again next year. Poles will get fired the following year. The new GM wont have any connection to caleb or Kingsbury and the same bears cycle of dysfunction will continue.
Just an FYI. Bears offered DM the same contract as Det. He declined and accepted Det offer. I agree we lost a good one. But I think he wanted to win and the bears aren't that RN GL to DM tho!
There wasn’t any available Olineman worth the money. Rochon aint all that and either is Herbert, you guys over value the mediocre take talent we have on this roster
We needed an RB if we wanted to be a relevant team, especially with Justin leaving. Like Zach said, there weren't good enough options for olineman in free agency. Interior investments better be made though.
The regression of the performance of the players is due largely to a lack of discipline on this team. Eberflus was highly touted as being "liked" by his players. Flus was soft and wishy washy. That doesn't produce a disciplined and professional team. Oh how I wish Harbaugh was here. But alas, the Bears office couldn't stand having a strong character as HC.
lol Chicago will never be good as long as stupid media like this is around. The guy built a good team that hasn’t worked out for a couple different reasons. Without and continuity, this team will not get anywhere. Thinking you’re going to be a winning franchise after only 2 years is just stupid.
Facts… Chicago media is so impatient and also always looking for something to bash… where is the optimism…this is part of the reason along with ownership why players and coaches don’t want to some here
Dysfunctional franchises keep firing but also keep regressing. Kind of reminds me of the Redskins until the owner was forced to sell. I contend that the Bears ownership is the issue; an ancient head in Virginia and offspring that don't know squat outside milking the fanbase for dough. If Poles is smart he will bail voluntarily and the spin cycle contiues.
I know a lot of Bears fans don’t want to hear this but one of the reasons why some players aren’t doing so good could be because Justin Fields isn’t here. Many of the players believed in him and were hyped at the things he did as our QB. I’m not saying Caleb is bad but maybe he doesn’t have the leadership qualities that JF had. DJ Moore certainly had his best season with him. I mean imagine this, what if Poles would’ve traded the 1st overall pick and we have kept Fields, draft some o-lineman, sign some o-lineman and Derrick Henry in free agency, and also draft some receivers in the 2nd rd like Xavier Legette and instead of Odunze at 9 draft Hared Verse. How would our team look now? Better I bet.
I can't believe anybody is talking about firing Poles. Cuz starting over(again) works?? We gotta let this guy do some work. It seems pretty obvious that this team lacks real leadership and the coaching has been bad. And we still don't know how much say Poles actually had in the Eberflus hire. Let Poles hire his own coach and then let's revisit this conversation in 3 years. Starting over every three years and hoping we hit on the "next big thing" is silly.
@@philippizzitola8957 Yup. Bears podcasts, bloggers and journalists jumping ship on a GM who’s only been here 3 years or putting content out there is exactly what’s wrong with Chicago sports media types.

I’m not saying poles needs to go, but it’s not resetting to go to a different gm. The bears have pieces to build around so it’s not like the gm has to come in like poles did and destroy in order to build. What the gm needs to do now is stay strong in their philosophy and in many ways poles didn’t.
@ColinCrane - I believe if Shane Waldron was allowed to call plays from upstairs, he would have done better calling offensove plays over the last 4 games.
You make a very good argument in regards to Poles. The bad outweighs the good in most facets. The wrong coach, bad culture, and the overall structure of the team are severely flawed. At this point, if he doesn't get an extension he is a lame duck GM. CLean house with new coach on the horizon (Vrabel). Let him pick his entire staff!
Chicago always tries to make the “right” moves, but their timing is always off, there’s always a part of the team or coaches or managers being replaced, never a rebuild from the ground up. Always overlap from the previous failures bleeding into the current team!
Poles is broken. You can see it in his face and hear it in his voice. He’ll be over thinking his every move. Why keep him? Especially if you’re not going to allow him to lead the coaching search. Promote Ian Cunningham and let Poles go.
Im reading/hearing so much ass backward shit. From what I understand, Poles walked into a bad situation with Goerge McKasky basically hiring Flus and making it Poles problem. McKaskys should be ashamed for what they have done to the players and especially to the fans. Huge disappointment.

I’m on the fence with Poles. I really liked what he was doing until he stuck with Flus for far too long. Good point about the trenches. Reality is none of these skill players are going to have the numbers they're supposed to on offense with a rookie quarterback who unfortunately has a subpar line and coaching instability
I love how we fleeced Carolina. That trade was all-time great. I think that we have drafted and traded fairly well for skill position player. However, I have been puzzled as to why a former offensive lineman has neglected the offensive line. Since we haven't had a history of matching up coaches, gm's, and 1st round quarterbacks, we erred in bringing back Everlose. Not that we now see how bad he and Waldron were. We need to do something different.
that trade only looked like an all time trade because Carolina sucked. If Carolina had balled out and won seven, eight or nine games, the bears wouldn't have had the number one pick to draft Caleb and would still be looking for their next QB. It was pure luck.
Who remembers the dominant dual threat Roquan Smith and Sandburn were? Now look at Sandburn….we don’t even hear his name. And we still got a whole lots of people here who claim that was a good move by Poles.
@ 😂……you definitely don’t pay attention to talent. His rookie season is the year he stood out. The only year he stood out. Following year, Roquan was gone.
Is it the GM's job to coach up the players? The Bears currently have the best roster on paper since the Lovie Smith era in 2012. Let’s not forget, the Bears fired Lovie, the lowest-paid NFL coach at the time, despite a solid 10-6 record-because the GM wanted to hire his own coach. Fast forward to today: Ryan Poles has done an incredible job. He went out and secured the best players he could in free agency, drafted several #1 players and trading to get DJ Moore, and managed the salary cap better than any GM in Bears history. If the players are underperforming, that's on the coach and his staff. The GM’s role is to assemble the talent, and Poles has done. So, it's time to get the right coach in here to do the JOB. Hiring is always a gamble. How many people hired an employee that doesn't live up to their resume. The company don't fire the CEO. We don't know the reason Bears hired Flus and kept him so long. could have been the terms of his contract or the Mccaskey influence. Warren wasn't hired to manage the process. So, I say keep Poles and let him build the team he wants. Because a new GM may disable the team to start over.
@@ivorybrown80 The McCaskeys will never sell the team. Bezos isn't buying the bears because it won't be for sale. That was just an internet rumor from wishful people dreaming of better days for their team. The McCaskeys have had that franchise for decades and won't give it up. Owning an NFL team is an easy money maker no matter how bad the team is.
I get the complaint that Poles hasn't built the trenches like he said he would, but I'd like to see an analysis of the linemen, offensive or defensive, of quality that Poles could've gotten, be it in the draft or FA, and what we got instead. I don't know those details, but in general, if there weren't good options given what we got instead (ie. if we passed on an exceptional lineman when we picked Odunze, or spent on FA that could've been spent on an available FA lineman) it's hard to say he's failed that comment. Harrison talks all the time about how hard it is to get a good o-lineman in FA because teams won't let them get to FA and while I'm sure there was a serviceable lineman available in the last draft when we drafted Tory Taylor in the 4th, Taylor's been a good piece to have this season.
Now I like Poles, but the “Bears” move feels like keeping Poles and grabbing someone like Joe Brady and having a being a borderline playoff team for Caleb’s rookie deal. I didn’t think I’d be against Poles but if Vrabel comes in here get him his GM. Bears can’t keep doing the same thing over and over again
Ian Cunningham is going to be a better GM than Poles somewhere else. Watch. Remember that draft video where he kept Poles from trading up for Rome and then still got him at 9? Poles was itching to move up from 9 for Rome. He has 3 TD’s on the year where 2 came in garbage time yesterday.
You are missing something really important...all these mistakes you assert on Ryan Poles may be from the frugal team ownership. Period. They are fucking cheap, and Ryan Poles has to do his job on a strict budget. Bear ownership is cheap.
As far as Poles moves, when he came in getting rid of bad contracts is easy. Also, the trade with the Panthers was good, but anyone hired would have been in that spot. Everyone knew that Fields was going to stay and the bears would trade the number 1 pick.
Roquon said he didn't want to be here. He wasn't going to resign. Why do people keep forgetting that? Montgomery took less money with Detroit. Not like Poles didn't offer him a contract.
The problem with Poles is that he is building the team backwards. He should be drafting for the trenches on both sides of the ball instead of skill players like Velus Jones and Tyler Scott and the secondary.
Fire Poles. Best you can say is his draft record is OK. Free agency picks have sucked. Coaching staff decisions are the worst, and he has constantly backed his coaches' bad decisions. Not looking like a great leader. Going with a new GM & HC at the same time seems like the smart choice.
You forgot about all the assistant coaches that needed to be fired over the past 3 years, two for some suspicious reasons. The Nate Davis signing and Claypool trades were horrible given all the stuff out there about both of them. He is clearly a horrible judge of character and doesn't do his homework.
My vote K. He has put as in a better situation for future growth. No GM is perfect. But CW and pulling that trigger looks to be a great move. I believe a few more pieces and a much better head coach and we will be in a much better situation moving forward.
I'm going to say keep him, because I think with the right coaching, the Bears can be a playoff team with the talent they have, as evidenced by the first 6 games and the last 3 before San Francisco. But he needs to be the one to pick the next HC, not Warren, not McCaskey. He never should've traded Khalil Mack or Roquan Smith IMHO.
A couple articles have been written lately that seems legit how to Put thoughts to words. Basically stating he's probably just average (Poles) which Is the worst kind of GM because they tend to get more leeway than they deserve and those type of GM’s never win at anything. But get to keep their jobs longer than deserved and the teams suffer from their command. Which is The situation the bears are in now. Fire Poles period
Caleb isn’t a high level player when the game is on the line. When you’re the bears, the game is in the line at kickoff. He’s now where to be found til the second half. Every week.
While I beleive Poles isn't without blame, to me the larger problem lieswith the McCaskey family .At the end of the day they are the owners not the GM.Stay away from the day to day running of the franchise.Warrens primary responsibillity should be getting the new stadium built and at this point he looks like he's having a hard time handling that.Remember with 5 seconds to play in the Washington gamePoles wasn't calling the defensive plays. AT the time the team was enroute to their 5th win and a playoff birth in sight. Alot of my fellow Bear fans had a different opinion of Ryan Poles then. That game was when the snow ball started rolling down the hill. Look back at how the team was playing prior to the end of that game and the effort that the players are giving now and some of our questions are answered. Not all but at least 53.
Man Urlacher is my favorite defensive player ever but roquan is literally almost just as good I mean maybe he's not quite there but he's pretty damn close. We should've definitely kept him he might be the best linebacker in football.
Regardless of Tremaine we should've kept roquan that move was absolutely insane and if you didn't mind it than idk man that's nuts he's one of the very few linebackers in the game today that effects each game with his presence he's a tone setter he's the best playmaking linebacker in the league and the only person you can put up there with him is Fred Warner and this year he's undoubtedly been the best linebacker there's nobody up there with him.
For 2 million dollars less just makes poles look like a straight up idiot. I like him but the only time I have actually doubted him is when he traded the best linebacker In football for a second round pick. That and the Claypool trade but even that one wasn't close to as bad as letting roquan go just to turn around and sign a mediocre player to basically the same deal.

Who remembers the dominant dual threat Roquan Smith and Sandburn were? Now look at Sandburn….we don’t even hear his name. And we still got a whole lots of people here who claim that was a good move by Poles.
Roquan trade the worst by far. Mack was 2nd but they always get rid of players down the line instead of maintaining vet leadership/wisdom. Super cheap
Sanborn got smoked by the 49ers running back the last game
Sandborn was never great. He's an average LB on a bad team.
We got more talent, signed more OL help, and got WORSE with the same HC we had last season... hmmmm 🤔
Ownership is the problem so this team will always have the same problems until they are gone
We Need New Owners as well!
Have you heard Jeff bezos might buy the team
@@ivorybrown80 The McCaskeys will never sell the team. Bezos isn't buying the bears because it won't be for sale. That was just an internet rumor from wishful people dreaming of better days for their team. The McCaskeys have had that franchise for decades and won't give it up. Owning an NFL team is an easy money maker no matter how bad the team is.
I enjoy watching you, Harrison. You really know your stuff. You're even better than some of our Lions podcasters. Wish you were a Lions fan.
So is this guy the savior/ King Poles or do we want to fire him?
Harrison, you could also add to the Bad Moves List the Monty screw up. He let Monty sign with the Lions when he could’ve matched their offer
Yes fire Poles he drafted aa bust of Quarterback in Caleb Williams failed to improve the Offensive line why keep him. F 6:33
Fire Poles. Don’t let him spend another dime.
As far as Poles moves, when he came in getting rid of bad contracts is easy. Also, the trade with the Panthers was good, but anyone hired would have been in that spot. Everyone knew that Fields was going to stay and the bears would trade the number 1 pick.
We can't keep being an unstable franchise
Drop him and pick someone who can do better, Poles has made many more mistakes than he has made advancing moves
Lots of comments “Bears should have x wins if not for coaching game mistakes” Belichick won’t make those.
Roquon said he didn't want to be here. He wasn't going to resign. Why do people keep forgetting that?
Montgomery took less money with Detroit. Not like Poles didn't offer him a contract.
Absolutely Matt Eberflus goes down the worst HC in Chicago Bears history. That’s truly on Ryan Poles for bringing him back dumb move.
The problem with Poles is that he is building the team backwards. He should be drafting for the trenches on both sides of the ball instead of skill players like Velus Jones and Tyler Scott and the secondary.
Fire Poles and bring in Louis Riddick as GM. Hire Ben Johnson as your Head coach.
The only thing negative about poles is not firing coach last year I still believe we should of kept fields and still drafted caleb
You have to either fire or extend. Can’t leave as is. Question is what GM would we want instead.
Need to find out what positions is he going for in the draft and free agency
It used to be fun mocking teams like the Browns and Raiders but now the Bears are exactly like them
Bears are worse

Fire Poles. Best you can say is his draft record is OK. Free agency picks have sucked. Coaching staff decisions are the worst, and he has constantly backed his coaches' bad decisions. Not looking like a great leader. Going with a new GM & HC at the same time seems like the smart choice.
Jaylon had 1 completion on him… he regressed… dude just take a break your talking like an insane person
You forgot about all the assistant coaches that needed to be fired over the past 3 years, two for some suspicious reasons. The Nate Davis signing and Claypool trades were horrible given all the stuff out there about both of them. He is clearly a horrible judge of character and doesn't do his homework.
F. No question.
Poles needs to go that dude has done nothing but get DJ, Caleb fell in their lap.
They need a better running back, better OL, better DL, and if he loads those spots up. They should be fine and at least watchable.
Fire Poles and let the new coach help in horing a new GM
Fire Warren First!!!!!
Honestly fire em and sell
Also letting David Monty walk for essentially nothing and then signed 2 subpar running backs for the same money was pretty bad as well
Also Monty this year has more yards and TDs then Swift and he has almost 20 less carries lol
My vote K. He has put as in a better situation for future growth. No GM is perfect. But CW and pulling that trigger looks to be a great move. I believe a few more pieces and a much better head coach and we will be in a much better situation moving forward.
REAL TALK ! Before we fire anyone else the bears must first get the players to be in an execution state of mind. They are not and have not DONE SO !
Bears player culture has been horrible this season.since Washington loss. Fire Poles , so head coach and GM both start the same Year 1.
A couple articles have been written lately that seems legit how to
Put thoughts to words.
Every week.
#9 pick should have been oline and not odunze. been saying for months he should be on hot seat
I didn’t like how in hard knocks poles cried when he cut Colbert.. just showed how soft everything around that building is.
Hire Bilichick as head coach, Hire Lovie Smith as defense coach. Can keep brown as offensive coach.
Fields and now Caleb… Fire Poles !!!
Fire Poles, then bring in Ray Agnew from DET as GM and then he can bring along Ben Johnson as Head Coach.
The bears are the nfl comedy act. Nfl makes a ton of money off the bears being awful.
