Some people have reported good results with this £20 sensor. amzn.to/3itV093
I HAVEN'T USED THIS MYSELF BUT IT IS SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER THAN OEM.

Just needed to comment with a massive thank you, had the same lights coming on and off for around 2 weeks then stayed on, been to 2 different garages who couldn’t find the problem, was reluctant to go to Ford and spend a fortune, did a bit of research and followed your video and the problems fixed! had the same issue with the end of the sensor staying in but drilled out and got it out. £29 for the part and a lot less worrying! Can’t thank you enough

glad I found this as I had loads of warning lights on the dash and Forscan said it was the front right wheel sensor, took the plunge and followed your process. Did the sensor break? of course it did but thanks to you I was able to just drill it out and cleaned it out and slotted the new one in, sensor on and sorted so fired up the car and no warnings, massive thanks m8

An excellent clip thankyou! Ive had my ranger for about 3months & although i love it i had an abs light come on together with an
Esc symbol show? Now theyv gone off ??
Ive tried it since off road in 4wd H& L range & didnt show any problems!! Puzzled? Maybe a faulty sensor??
Its only done 36k miles!! 10:20

Sometimes they light up when water gets into the hole of the sensor... they dry out and are fine again. Had this a few times over the years.

  • @captainotto

Anyone doing this job keep in mind that if your sensor is old enough to go kaput, your chances are very high of the sensor body shearing off during removal. That place gets hot, wet, salted, and it's full of rust thanks to its proximity to the brakes. Be prepared to have to drill and pull it. If you are prepared in advance the whole process is much easier. Start with taking the wheel off. Even if you can get away with not doing it, you will get much better visibility and access with the wheel out which will reduce the chances of making a mistake.
I haven't seen any mention of it, but if you have to drill the sensor out, I've found that using a 10mm to extract the material above and just slightly below the gasket, followed by a pilot hole down the main shaft of the body to about 3/4 of the way down to the end. After that you can just use a self-tapping screw and drive by hand to the end of the pilot hole. Finally you can just use a pair of pliers or vice grips to pull the self-tap screw out and with it will come the remains of the sensor hopefully in one piece.
I don't trust using a drill bit as an extractor as you will always get some material that falls in the hub and while it may not be a problem, it can very easily be a huge problem.

    • @DetailingandtheBeast

Not sure limp mode was one of my symptoms but have a look at my one prior to this one on the replacement battery. That showed all the errors I was getting. I originally thought it was the battery, but the error returned shortly after that video and led to this video.

Ford ranger t6 2.2 - got the error changed both sensors... errors (Engine + ABS lights) and cruise control does not work.
I clear via FORSCAN (using an ODBII cheapo connector). Drive for 5mins ABS error kicks back in - knocked out Cruise control (guessing it takes wheel speed from ABS). This is driving me mad - any thoughts - thinking checking Fuzes and then checking I am reseting with reader and not just clearing?!?

Nice how the afermarket software can identify which sensor has failed but ford tell me its a sensor but they cant tell which one so they will replace both front ones first and if that doent work then they would do the rears. £700 for the front pair fitted from ford.

100% NO! Get ForScan on a laptop and a £20 cable. The sensors all wire back to the ABS module individually, so even IF their software is so rubbish, they could always go old skool and continuity test each sensor one at a time.

@@DetailingandtheBeast From past experience I dont believe they would know how to. I had an issue with my work van 6 volts on the headlights eventually we managed to meet their electrical specialist. I explained the problem and the testing I had done, he asked how he could test for voltage at a bulb, I had to point out his mulimeter in his tool box which was still sealed, he did not know why he had been issued it.
I now have the dongle and forscan but if I fixed the original problem myself I could not claim on the warrenty.
