Just imagine being a 15 year old in 1975 and all your mates were after a copy of this 45. The rest of the country rocked to David Bowie, and Slade etc. Not us, we looked for an obscure 45 on the Volt label. Yep, different we were ;-)
Knew her in high school. Great person, and I knew she could sing but what I didn't realize that she could have and should have been a Motown star. Mary Wells, Diana Ross, Martha Reeves, Gladys Knight and the rest of them, Collette was every bit as good and maybe even better.
This was a theme tune for a U.S. T.V. Show, It got a few plays at Manchester Ritz, And I remember hearing it at Halifax Mecca, but most people dissed it, I found it at Bradford market for 50p, Ilove It.
@@grahamhiggins1816The Steppin’Stones, Status Quo and a hard rock band Gronk. We were friends in high school back in Baltimore. As great a vocalist as she was she was just as great as a person.
Heard this in the early 2000's and was looking out for a copy. By some weird chance I found a copy in a record shop in South East London in 2004 for £3! I kept that for a while and played it alot. Then sold it a girl in Stockholm for 70 euros! Now I'm thinking I should have held on to it.
If you love this as much as I do, but can't find (or can't afford) the 45, you can find it on Ian Levine's Solid Stax Sensations compilation (Ace Records, 2015)
Just discovered this Love it amazing
Probably the best Northern Soul song ever made. Can't believe so many soulers have never heard it. Lets bring it alive again PLEASE.

Just purchased a copy. 😊
Imagine being a 15 year old in 1969 and cutting this record! Yup, she was only 15 when Volt Records signed her.
Beautiful 🙏

For my old mate Russ Coe from LAncashire ;-))
Any trouble if this kind of jewel lasts so greatly?
Great tune but its interesting that this tune lasts over 4 minutes. Isn't that rare in the Northern Soul vein?
Yes it is. Most (northern) soul records wouldn’t have such a long, instrumental section in the middle!
Saw a copy this week 05/2016 for 250 pounds
