There's a couple great spots on Sanibel/Captiva islands .......but you got to have deep pockets to access and park anywhere close to them ! And they don't get good very often but when they do there's one spot out there that's in the top five best places to surf in Florida ! There used to be a spot just north of blind pass and south of Tween' Waters inn called the "Nut Hut" that broke for a couple years before disappearing that would throw full on top to bottom barrels for 60-75 yards over a very shallow crushed shell sandbar ! Saw lots of broken boards and injuries there and the best part was there was no real place to park and you can't see the spot from the road so everytime it did break proper ......there was a tight knit group of locals that where on it !
Texas where I grew up surfing has some excellent moments but you have to be all in and on it daily. I surfed many epic days in Texas that would rival anywhere in the US but enduring days of ok surf or very little is the tough part.
Very good video . I am planning to learn surf in Destin panama city beach area. What's the best part of the year to surf and what time of the day ? thanks for the information
Hi Andy! The best time to surf in this area is between January-April in the early morning or when there are storms! However, with a long board, you can catch just about any wave, no matter how small!
I lived in San Clemente for a couple years and now we live in cocoa beach which is right next to satellite and new Smyrna and I can honestly say although San Clemente CA gets more consistent waves I don’t think I ever want to leave cocoa beach. We get great waves here pretty much everyday it’s just depends on the time of day and you have to be an entrepreneur or have open schedule to surf everyday.
@@traviscarden5815I'm thinking about moving to FL to learn to surf. I work remotely have zero responsibilities..lol except working. I lived in Daytona in the late 90s when spring break was cool..haven't been back..need to be near water but .... Gulf coast seems nicer but not as good for surfing..I'm not moving to California 😂😂

I can’t believe you know about Innerlight surf shop in Pensacola Beach. That’s where I had my first skateboard competition.👍
Very cool!
