Pro tip, if you can’t finish the whole job in one day or don’t have lots of spare space, put all of your bolts and brackets and parts all in separate ziplock bags with a label and put them in order so you know exactly which ones come next!
my van is sitting at a diesel mechanic shop seeing if they can extract an extremely tight broken injector hold bolt deep in that hole. looking at these videos to see if ill have to replace the head (like some farmers around me are saying) or maybe if I take just the cover off and cam cover off/ ill be able to get a better angle at it to extract the original bolt. Any words of inspiration here. figure if I can get a better grip on the actual extractor bit down there I can extract it my self. My other option was just adding a heli coil on top and put a bandaid on it essentially. idk what to do.
Please don't put a short bolt on top of the broken bolt. Left turning drill bits might help get the broken bolt out and we have videos about repairing stripped bolt holes and drilling broke bolts out. Search our channel for "Black Death".

370k on my 2003 , it has had head gasket seepage down the block at that exact spot since new . Now the seepage is very obvious and it’s loosing coolant slowly and the radiator cap pops like a champagne cork . Still runs great as good as the day I drove it off the showroom floor. But getting a little concerned it may be time to replace the head gasket…. How long can these things go on a “blown head gasket “
I don't recommend it but I've done the trip Florida to Chicago to Toledo adding water hourly. Watch that coolant level and don't trust the temperature on the dash gauge. When the coolant is low the sensor will read only steam.
Hi i got slight oil intrusion in my coolant,not enough to make chocolate pudding but enough where i have to flush the cooling system every couple months to stay ahead of it,i will be doin a head gasket job should i also do the timing cover to be safe?any thoughts on where this oil is coming from and when i have the head off where should i be looking for any cracks? its an 06 runs great no cap dance 400k thx
@@FloridaVanMan that was the first thing i replaced...sorry i should have started out with that...i also took the oil filter out and looked inside the hole for any bad casting,everything looked good,flushed and flushed with dawn SOMEWHERE I'm getting erl in the coolant

I've done headgasket on diesels but they wernt laminated...rabbit and dasher diesels...all I need is a plan of action...I ordered all the parts just waintin for an old style hb bolt...when I get it apart I'll be lookin fr cracks on the head n block...I did the oil cooler twice with a china special then a beahr I'm sure I dint spell it right but let's say "oem" not losing any coolant...thx fr the help I do have a spare engine with 350k on it with one stripped injector threads..I can fix that with the kit (NOT helicoil) but my engine with the oil prob wrks great dont wanna pull the trigger on an engine replace till I exhaust all options...thx fr any expert advice ya can give me

Yes, I've replaced a couple head gaskets with engine in the van. It is back-breaking work and now that I have taken a few engines out I probably will never do head gasket work again without removing the engine from the van first.
I've not seen a head gasket leak oil or coolant to the outside. The valve cover gasket will be the oil leak in that area 99 times out of 100. That is much easier than head gasket but all the injectors still need to come out, so valve cover gasket is a mid-range job.

It's "Einlass" und "Auslass" literally "Inlet" and "Outlet". Pronounced somewhat like Ainluss and Ausluss. The "a" should sound like the a in Florida.

I hope you didn't take the head off yet! The usual reason for oil in our coolant is a failing oil cooler. ruclips.net/video/2EPz-Qp83zc/видео.html

@@FloridaVanMan so have you ever seen oil gettin in the coolant in any other way? It's just slightly getting in there but givin enough time it adds up
@@needlemiejer143 It could be tiny bits of oil coming through the head gasket but that will also push coolant out of the radiator system.

Correction: leak is coming from the valve cover seal, not the head gasket…sry

Why wouldn't you check the glow plugs while the head is off. Too bad if they are stuck and you snap them later on
