    The one that I hate is when people say “you haven’t found the right man yet”

      That and “this is probably just a phase” ugh! Thankfully my parents didn’t give me any of that crap when I came out as lesbian

    - for the Uhaul I guess you could say that some lesbians, who had a harder time coming out because of their family or just took a longer time accepting being gay, tend to rush a little more than others when entering a relationship. like if you had a few straight relationships because you weren't out and it felt like a 3/10 rating, when you finally accept yourself and enter a great relationship that feels like a 9 or a 10/10, you just don't want to wait anymore. it feels so good you want to stay together all the time and since you're already basically spending every waking moment with your loved one. plus if you met on an app or dating site and you live so far away from each other, you've been talking for months, when you meet for the first time and it goes beyond your expectations, you just don't want to be appart.
    - L word... seems outdated stereotype but I guess when the show came out. for lesbians, it was the show to watch because there weren't that many with lesbians main characters out there. so you kinda had to love it because you can't hate one of the only queer show on TV. now it's more stereotypical to love OitnB.

    Ugh about 80% of these stereotypes are true for me but then again, I'm a butch lesbian. A lesbian stereotype I heard sometimes growing up was that all lesbians own Birkenstocks or Doc Martens (its also true in my case).

    All lesbians wear flannel and/or beanies.
    All lesbians are vegetarian/vegan (there is an actual slang term for that - granola dyke)

    I agree Sam anyone can wear what they want, I don't understand how people assume who or what you are just from how you dress. I never assume anything about anyone, I feel let everyone be who they are with no assumptions.😀

    I've definitely heard all these before!!
    Here's a few stereotypes that I've heard (and my responses in brackets):
    - All lesbians have tattoos (maybe not all, but a lot do!!)
    - All lesbians had more male friends growing up (was true for me when I was young, but by Grade 5 I hung out more with my female friends)
    - I don't know how to phrase this one other than saying "useless lesbian" - the stereotype that 2 lesbians will like each other but never get into a relationship with each other because they're expecting the other person to pursue them (there's some truth to this one, but obviously not across the board- most women were socialized to expect a man to pursue them, so when they realize they're gay, they have a hard time initiating a relationship. It can be a struggle!)

      the 3rd one you said if sometimes true. there are a lot that are afraid of rejection I guess. it's hard to go to someone trying to hit on them and get rejected because the other girl is either no interested, taken, straight, etc. so most of the time the first girl will send signals to make the other one understand she's gay, the second one will see that and sometimes do the same. but after that, most likely both will wait for the other one to do the first move and they will miss their chances.

    I grew up with the notion that being lesbian was something that "happened" to women when they got hurt by men over and over. So they "chose" women instead...Thus, the angry, man-hating lesbian.

    • @thenerdnmk
      @thenerdnmk 2 года назад

      This is not true. Most lesbians don't hate men at all. They can hang out with them are just not attracted to them sexually and romantically.

      Except that’s not how it works. At all. My younger cousin has been into girls since she was nine. Girls have been mean to her since she was in high school but she still preferred them.

    Funny that the only lesbian girl i know checks all these stereotypes (without the car and the astrology part cause thats just dumb) I dont think these are far from the truth. Just because they dont apply in your case doesnt mean they dont apply in most cases.

      I know a straight couple that are terrible to their friends. Some stranger straight people keep telling me they can in fact have fulfilling friendships and that was a stereotype. But since I know one couple like that I think it is still true for most straights that they cannot have good friendships.

      I am a Christian, but I don't judge others. Besides, there are Christian denominations (Lutheran Church) that accept homosexuals.

    • @kikinorthington680
      @kikinorthington680 2 года назад

      No Christian church accepts that. Only the “church” you go to does. Any Bible Geneva , King James or any version for that matter does not accept it. Nor does Islam.

    • @kikinorthington680
      @kikinorthington680 2 года назад

      The problem with Lutheranism is the religion suffers in communicating doctrine. They accept sinners so yes in that case a sinner can come but has to withdraw the sin. Also China / communism does not accept homosexuality...
