Always have fun being able to work you guys. And Di is getting better each time she goes out. I think Ara should get a hard hat and mount his mast on top of it. After your activation, I'm anxiously waiting for your video to come out. My favorite channel! Thanks guys!
Thanks for the QSO, and finding our channel! Hope to catch you on the air again soon. 146.58 in LA is like showing up to the neighborhood watering hole. Pretty much always gonna find friends there :)
I think it's fantastic that you hike with your cat! We have two Bengals we hiked with when they were younger. Great SOTA activation video too! Thank you for sharing.
How fun! Just subscribed. We take our cat hiking but haven't brought him on a sota yet. We'll add you to ham alert and hope to catch you on the air! 73 Mike N4FFF es Becky N4BKY
@@SOTA-plus Totally are. Also, these videos finally pushed me over the edge to start learning code myself. Not likely to SOTA anytime soon, but it's time I learned Morse!
What's the kitty treat? I'll bet our cats would like that. I like how you have the decoded CW in the closed captions (which I leave turned off). I dislike having them as a crawl at the bottom because I don't need them and it's distracting, but I understand how many want them and use them for practice. AWESOME LOCATION!
Here’s the kitty magic: amzn.to/3ZxmjCD She’ll do anything for that stuff! Glad the CC approach is working do you. If I want to watch the kitty again to relax, I also like having them off :)
Greetings from KG43eu :-) Feedback for you regarding change of name to SOTA+ - Having 'found' your channel a couple of weeks ago (based on including 'cat' in search term), reason for my return visits are twofold, 1 your cat, and 2, scenery. I also use the opportunity to copy the QSO's being as I am not currently 'radio active'. I have very much enjoyed your video's of SOTA activations and admit I have not (as yet) viewed any of your other productions. Our eldest son has 8 cats (don't ask!) and I have put together a 12 minute compilation based on 6 of your outings that include Ormu (apologies for spelling - probably incorrect). As for additional content, it is always interesting to learn about equipment used (rig, aerials, power supplies etc.) and perhaps highlighting any unforeseen challenges encountered (and how overcome) during an activation. 10/10 for video production 'quality' as well as content - VERY professional! keep up the GREAT job and continue to have FUN! 73 / 72 de Nigel ZS6RN ex G8DEV l-o-n-g time ago.
"eeeh eeh eh" that's Goatspeak for "Great video guys (Di & Ormoo Cat)" You asked? Well I'd like hear what Ormoo thinks of these silly summit SOTA shraids, maybe a feline CW QSO sending QLP (please send with your Left Paw)or CAT2CAT with W6CAT that'd be worth some catnip IPA? Seriously anything to make a boring video of some radio nerd talking to another nerd over air more funny, engaging and educational is always appreciated. Good Job!! 72, Steve/wGØAT & Boo/GØAT
If you use a resonant antenna, there's absolutely no need for a tuner! Last weekend I activated using a QMX Mini, a K6ARK EFHW, and a 9V battery - no tuner needed. My recommendation would be to get a NanoVNA and tune your antenna decently well (

That kitty really likes the gogurt! Great video. Thanks for your activation!
We combine radio with birdwatching. It's easy to pull out my KX2 and AX1 and make a couple of POTA contacts while my wife is scanning the trees.
Looking at all these Mountains makes a Ton of Memories coming back to me. Love the San Gabriels 💯😍
Amazing view!!!!
Nice! Worked you voice VHF on Grass Mtn on 6/28. Good to see you on here. Subbed.

Hey Mike & Becky - we'll look forward to it! Glad to see another couple sharing the joy of activating together :)
Also, I really dig the subtitles.
Really glad they're useful! Thanks for letting us know!

Di should totally upgrade.
But I also still want to see if the cat can learn code! 😀

Edit: Compilation video for our eldest son to watch. He has no interest in amateur radio.

Was SOTA Fountain already taken?
I am new to CW. Is it necessary to have an antenna tuner to send CW on a QCX Mini? Can I send CW without an antenna tuner?

Ara's antenna would work better with a counterpoise...W6QR
True… but then the cat might try to attack it! 😂
