I pay a minimum wage of 20 dollars an hour for my two businesses, lawn care, and delivering flyers. I live in a higher tax paying jurisdiction of Canada in a high tax province. I still more than enough money to live on and probably could even pay a slightly higher minimum. Mind you I don't know the profit margin for a restaurant which has a lot of overhead, more than lawn care and advertising for sure. An airport could certainly pay 20 dollars and hour. I would have paid a 20 dollar minimum anyway but I had previously worked for a lawyer who paid in 20 an hour in the 2000's which I thought was really high at the time for a laborer, I had also worked for a moving company that also had a 20 an hour starting wage. Moving at the time had something like a 12 an hour start on average but I heard people getting the minimums of 10 an hour for smaller companies. I feel sorry for American workers who have to live on 7 and 8 dollars an hour. You must be working just to pay rent and barely anything else never mind health insurance, clothing, transportation and food.
American workers are paying 1/4 the taxes you are and less for housing, fuel, energy, clothes and groceries, $20/hour in Canada is $10/hour in the US not including exchange rate at any given time.

I don't let any employer push me around and work me to death. I show the employers I am not going to be slave driven. I expect to be able to live and afford to have a roof over my head off of my income alone. I let low paying employers know about themselves of how much of a cheapskate they are as an employer.
Unfortunately this program didn't go into too many details about her employer, but she's considered a "tipped" worker and gets paid $2.13 per hour by her employer. Theoretically, she's supposed to make up for that in tips so that she at least makes minimum wage, but not everyone tips.
It's because they're supposed to get tips to make up for it. But then there are so many jerks who look down on restaurant servers and other tipped employees, and won't tip them because they think they don't deserve it, or "they chose to take a job that only pays $2 an hour. It's not my responsibility to pay them."
Not true. It's considered "unfair" to pay one employee more because he or she works better or harder. According to the new policies since the liberals took over. It's considered discrimination. There are no raises either as that is also considered unfair. Yet it's okay if these same employees who cry unfair don't feel like working go home early.

All employers need to be paying up to date living wages that will be above the cost of living so people can actually live. If the employers cannot pay up to date wages for people to live instead of paying low slavery wages then people will be able to live. The cost of living should not continue to go up above working wages then no one is going to be able to live at all. The cost of living should always be lower than the working wages then that will be how to settle the living financial issues. Just like the rents being high well if the pay isn't going up then the rents should not be high to where no one can live. It's so stupid that the cost of living is higher than working wages. The correct way to this is the wages should always be higher than the cost of living. Stop raising rents since no one can afford to rent.
Fist off, she chooses this life style. $2.50 a hour she choose to work there. All she needs to do is wake up and get a job else we’re. Target, Walmart, Home Depot, Mc Donald’s is even better then that. She could be making $15 a hour every hour. And make $25,000 a year or $2,000 a month.
I don't agree with raising min wage but there should be programs that teach financial literacy and employment skills to adults because it would benefit everyone in the country.
Humm let me understand this wage hike thing. You are in hi school and want some personal things so you go to work at McDonald's. McDonald's is not a place for you to make a living. Food cost money so if they pay highrer wages they will have to charge more for the food they sell and then people will stop or limit there visits to McDonald's. So now you have people who don't have an education to get a good job so they have to take a lower paying job so they figure that they get together and demand more money. So what happened to her husband after they had 2 or 3 kids and they guy leaves and doesn't support the kids so they woman has to go to work and then they also get welfare and food stamps and a place to stay for free. And none of this takes into account the illegals who are moving into our country to get the free stuff too.

I was enlisted in the Us Navy for 4 years, COS. Did you serve? When you say troops... do you just mean combat veterans? You get paid based on job and rank and years of service. Some make well over $15 an hour. Plus full benefits, free housing if wanted, cheap rent if you live on base, no taxes on purchases, free meals as much as you can eat everyday. Discounts on clothing. You go into the Navy you spend 70% of the time on a ship, so nothing to even spend your money on until you port. You will come home in 4 years with $50k in your bank account and $30k GI Bill. If you reenlist you will get another bonus and raise. Not sure what you really mean by that comment.
$15 an hour isn't even that much. In states/cities with a high cost of living, you'd actually still probably be homeless and struggling making that. In more normal places, that's still just about the minimum amount you need to make just to be able to afford basic living expenses. No one is expecting to get rich making $15. They just want to be able to afford to eat and put a roof over their head. So yeah, even "minimum skill" workers without college degrees should at least make enough to do that. And those in the military definitely deserve MORE than $15 (and I imagine most of them probably already make more than that).

So when everything that was meant to guide those children fails them, do we blame the children, or do we reassess ourselves and the society we have built to nurture them?

Thank you for your comment
American workers are paying 1/4 the taxes you are and less for housing, fuel, energy, clothes and groceries, $20/hour in Canada is $10/hour in the US not including exchange rate at any given time.
@@toddpick8007 Think your statement through. Draw it out on a piece of paper if you have to. Even with exchange was 15 and change. Today I pay 25 as a minimum so its 19 and change. If they pay less in tax then they have more money skippy and if they pay less for goods and services then they really have more than us Canadian counterparts. You never really thought that one through did you.
Where I live, just to get by, you would need to earn at least $28 dollars an hour to live. That means, two people working Full Time making $14 dollars an hour each, would be just enough to get by.
I would suggest moving if you think $28/hr is difficult to achieve.
Yeah specially if you have kids but not to long that $28 an hour not gonna be enough
People say that’s it’s only people with kids etc that shouldn’t be working at places like this but little do they know it’s mostly teenagers whose parents are making them pay their phone bills and car insurance which one whole paycheck covers only one of those bills and college students that are trying to save money while being in school so no it’s not always people made poor decisions in life it’s the fact everyone deserves to make a decent amount of money to live conformably and pay bills
Also retired people who can’t live only with the retirement paychecks
If you have a college degree and only make minimum wage, then yes, you did make poor decisions. I know several people who didn’t go to college that are multimillionaires. If they can do it without a degree, then there’s no reason why others can’t do it with a degree. I also have a friend who made around $600,000 just 2 years after graduating from college with a bachelors degree.
2:13 an hour? WTF?
They make way more than that. That’s just what the employer has to pay as long as $2.13 + tips equals or exceeds the minimum wage of $8+. If $2.13 + tips does not equal or exceed the minimum wage, then the employer has to make up the difference.
Absurd. Sounds like slavery to me. Or at least like it would be possible in some less developed countries. What point is there to have a minimum wage If the employer doesnt have to apply it?
How can we live on minimum WAGES Everything r very high Rents Groceries Really its very hard for Us

When Alberta legislated a increase to minimum wage it hurt more workers than it helped.
Restaurants like McDonald's brought in auto serve kiosks.
People workin 40 hr weeks found their hours drastically reduced.
So not only job losses or reduced hours meaning their take home pay was lower, they also had to pay more as companies had to raise prices because their labor costs went up.
In a nutshell increasing minimum wage meant earning less and paying increased cost of living.
It was an epic failure.
It’s so sad just to watch this. Empire in decline always have this problem. Citizens working but not being paid commensurate to the value they produce. Why? Because there are so many freeloaders parasitically latching on to the system. The US have more than 1 million lawyers to feed, to clothe, to house, to SUV'ed, to lapdanced to, etc. That's just one useless profession. There's still the gambling table dealers, lobbyists, tax accountants, med reps, athletes stock speculators, bankers etc, etc. And don't forget the bureaucrats. These people are having it easy but gets all the perks of society. If you work minimum wage, you are at the bottom of the food chain. You are a slave in the system.

15 dollars an hour? I was making that much in Seattle, but that was hardly enough then, with 30 hours a week! Now, 20 years later, they want to increase it to 15? No one says why a CEO makes millions with a huge severance pay, etc. Many of these companies may be losing money or come out even at the end of the year. We have a class system that caters to the rich. The system in a way has millions of worker ants. The soldier ants keep the status quo for the rich, and in our country, queens milk the rest. This is our Democracy in action. I have not seen Mr. Biden to go to the skid row in L.A. to see for himself how millions across the US live! I guess he is cozy in the White House. I liked the guy! And for the two of the richest men in the world, I have one suggestion: Don't send us to fly in space for a couple of minutes for thousands of dollars. Instead, cater to the needs of our homeless population. A country that forsakes her own population is bound to fail and collapse sooner or later!
You could take wallmarts CEO's entire wage give it to the employees and it wouldnt amount to a 40 cent increase on their weekly pay.
It is extremely unacceptable for any employer to be paying low wages to begin with. I wouldn't be letting any employer to take advantage of me like that for low poor paying wages. I would be complaining to my hr department and even the corporate office. If the employer cannot pay living wages then the owner is better off doing the job themselves. I don't let any employer push me around and work me to death. I show the employers I am not going to be slave driven. I expect to be able to live and afford to have a roof over my head off of my income alone. I let low paying employers know about themselves of how much of a cheapskate they are as an employer.
$2.00 an hour?!?!?!?!
If the Republicans can have their wish.
Yea, that’s below minimum wage
Unfortunately this program didn't go into too many details about her employer, but she's considered a "tipped" worker and gets paid $2.13 per hour by her employer. Theoretically, she's supposed to make up for that in tips so that she at least makes minimum wage, but not everyone tips.
It's because they're supposed to get tips to make up for it. But then there are so many jerks who look down on restaurant servers and other tipped employees, and won't tip them because they think they don't deserve it, or "they chose to take a job that only pays $2 an hour. It's not my responsibility to pay them."
so now the customer is supposed to pay her salary instead of her employer?
Man I just left McDonald’s and they put the cheese on TOP of the bun, y’all can keep your 8 dollars mf

YOU GET PAID FOR VALUE NOT NEED -- (if you want to be paid for need, move to the Soviet Union, if you want to be paid for value, improve yourself)
Not true. It's considered "unfair" to pay one employee more because he or she works better or harder. According to the new policies since the liberals took over. It's considered discrimination. There are no raises either as that is also considered unfair. Yet it's okay if these same employees who cry unfair don't feel like working go home early.
People who work fast food work a lot harder than office jobs paying double that, and I value McDonald’s workers more than paper pushers if I’m being honest.
Why not look for better paying jobs
If your stuck in a rut it's time to leave the starter jobs and get a factory job

A lot of factory jobs are temp to hire jobs. If you don't learn the job within a few days you're fired. They don't even view you as a human being or train you enough.
The rich need to know the middle class works n works while they took all the wealth n the American Dream because they don't need to work hard like hard- working people who struggle everyday.

you have to have some kind of unique skill that pays well or you have to get proper education and get a better job. minimum wage life has no future. it doesn't matter you make $7.5 and hour or $15 or even $20 an hour. your life will still be miserable unless you are happy with eating 3 meals a day, have no car and living in low rent craphole apartment. if you are single and in early 20's, you can own a car and live ok life with $25-30 an hour wage but when you get married and have kids, you have to be making at least $50+ an hour to live just ok life. ok life means own a very small house(under 300k home), budget car(under 30k) and afford no brand clothing and have 3 meals a day. if you have kids and have to pay for their tuition too, then good luck.. you have to be making at least $80+ an hour for low middle class life.

It's funny how low paying jobs like mcdonald's make u do more work than easier jobd

Many low wage workers don't even have kids. But they still don't make enough money to even afford basic necessities and living expenses just for themselves.
@@CherryFrog321 In 2018 there were 34 million Americans in poverty of them 11.9 million of them were children. Though you are correct that there are many people who don't have children living with them who are in poverty. My point is that children create financial obligations that low income worker can't afford. When you add child care, health care, housing, transportation, educational needs, food and other living expenses that are legally the obligation of parents, why are there SO MANY CHILDREN IN POVERTY!!!??? Not everyone deserves to get paid well.
Your comment is stupid! 15$ isnt that good, and whatever the government pays soldiers and what private companies pays is irrelevant.
