And I am the biggest lover of Dark Souls and have played everything, finished everything all the way up to new game plusses. And only now I started playing Nioh since a week. O my god. I love this game equally as much as Dark souls! Some aspects more, some aspects less. But it's so good. Im almost starting to believe that any kind of Dark souls like game with the same or higher quality and presentation, unrelated to whatever theme, that it's a game totally meant for me.

the "Mimic" in Nioh is a Tanuki, a Racoondog Youkai, they like to trick people or play games with them, hence the "Simon Says" game it want to play with you, also if you blatantly disregard the Tanuki enough times and just fight it it will drop the Frustration Gesture, guess it is getting a little frustrated by you trying to kill it when it only want to play.

Pro tip for NiOH: Some Yokai have weak points (Some the horns, eyes, etc...) hit the spot multiple times may destroy it and allow for additional damage boost, cause target to be stun for longer combo strings, or deplete their stamina which will give larger enemies hit-stun and knock back for a short time. This was apparent through Alpha, Beta, and Last Demo. So be mindful to assess your target to exploit any vulnerabilities.

Twilight missions have completely different enemies and different enemy placements and much better loot to make up for that. But keep in mind you can still summon people like in dark souls to help you if a boss or something is really hard. But for some side missions you can't summon. But you can summon for every main and twilight mission .

Onimusha is a fixed perspective story game where you gather VERY specific weapons and level them up a very specific way.
Nioh and Dark Souls use the same perspective, they have almost identical combat features in terms of the attack/dodge/defend tradeoff, Onimusha is similar to Resident Evil in it's pace, puzzle solving and perspective . In what way is it massively more like Onimusha other than the thematic similarities?

The loot drops are by the bundles. Something I love!
BTW, the protagonist is based on a real historical figure, ship builder/navigator/astrologist William Adams. He, at age 36, became the first northern European to reach Japan in the 17th century and became one of the few elites to become a samurai who was a foreigner. He was very powerful becoming the shogun's, Tokugawa Ieyasu, personal favorite and held a very high position in the courts. leyasu loved Adams so much he prohibited him from returning to England to see his wife and two kids. Instead, Adams married a samurai's daughter and bore two kids, living in Japan until his death at the age of 55.

Actually you can backstab on stealth. If you deplete the enemy's ki bar, you can also do a grapple attack, which has the same concept of backstabbing after stunning on Bloodborne.

there's a back stab in this game, but you have to unlock it as one of the move sets you can unlock in this game. what I don't like about it you have to unlock the same move set multiple times if you wanna use the same move in a different stance. speaking of stances, the high stance focuses on attack power and breaking but lacks defenses like blocking and dodging due to high ki cost. mid stance focus on blocking but you can't get behind enemies easily. low stance focus on dodging so you can fight group of enemies or you want to get behind enemies easily

Yo Pearson, i made a list of games i always wanted to play... There are more than 10 titles, maybe you want to check them out. As a PC Gamer, there are only exclusives in this list, that's why i bought a ps4 slim last week: Last of us Remastered, Rachet and Clank, Bloodborn, Final Fantasy 15, Uncharted 1-3 Remastered, Uncharted 4 and the upcoming ones: Last of us 2, Red Dead Redemption 2, Crash Bandicoot Remastered, Nioh, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn(My favorite one), Nier Automata, etc... But these are the best ones in my opinion!

Ah, you forgot to mention the Revenant system in place in Nioh. If you die in your game, your spirit of your character stays in that area for other players around the world, in which they can fight you or you can their ghosts/spirits to obtain their armor/gear. Helps players get better gear from other players in a way.

it is so bad when people who didn't play it say it is like dark souls, the game has different mechanics, can u kill people with bow and arrow in dark souls? do u have multiple stances? do u get ganged up upon in dark souls? the whole feel of the game is different, if u played ninja gaiden black then u will understand. It is true is has a vibe from dark souls, but is that bad? so far we never had a decent game that challenged that mighty game......anw, i hope people try the game before labeling it, it is fresh and different and very very very fun to play :)

Xander Lander "Nioh refers to the guardians of Buddha, the statues you might find outside a temple. The are said to encapsulate the wrath of Buddha I think (could be wrong). The idea is that William comes to be a powerful demon killer worthy of a title Nioh."

***** Well Nacho above me did a far better job for the title than I would have, so Ill just describe the game. Nioh is a Japanese Action RPG that plays like the result of Dark Souls, Onimusha and Ninja Gaiden got together and had steamy hot sex together with Nioh being the result of their coupling. All three parents would look on their child with pride. As said in the video, the is hard as hell, with a deep combat system that rewards many different playstyles. The story is set in Japan around 1600 a few months before the battle of Sekigahara during the Japanese Civil War. You play as a Western Sailor who arrives in Japan after a shipwreck and through some events im not sure of, become a retainer to Tokugawa Ieyasu. You seem to act as his go to demon slayer considering what you do in the game.

Dark souls' difficulty doesn't feel cheap, unlike "very high" difficulties on most games, which is basically less health for you and more for the enemy or w/e. The game feels fair and when you die you know why and what you did wrong, which is important for a challenging and rewarding game like this.

The first picture/footage of William Adams for Nioh came at E3 2005. That's 2 years before Witcher 1 came out, and Geralt looked nothing like he does now in Witcher 3 then. He looked like a frog with a mane.
Nioh's protagonist was already rocking the long white hair when he was introduced. And let's not cite source material, because the Witcher book series is modern; William Adams is a true historical figure lol, even if his hair isn't white.

In number 3 it is true that there are no backstabs in Nioh but there is something call "Fatal blow" I think that was the name. What you have to do is drop the enemy stamina to 0 and then they will get stunned if you lock the camera the circle will turn red in that moment press triangle and you will do a fatal blow.

you forgot to say, that unlike DS the enemies in Nioh also has a stamina bar, meaning that if you are smart and skilled you can make them deplete their stamina, and then move in for a devastating blow. that i feel, is a cool mechanic and makes the game a bit more "fair" and realistic.
