Shannon is a beautiful city, and very modern. From what I remember (as an 18 yr old, visiting Ireland in 1985), it was one of the few cities- if not only city- with real freeways with on ramps/off ramps, and overpasses, like we have here in the U.S. Especially near Shannon Airport. The rest of the country, as I recall was all surface roads. 2-lane mostly, maybe 4-lane entering a town... tops! Maybe it’s changed since then, but I remember being very impressed with Shannon.

The Air force has different planes for the President. Usually the Vice President uses the 757. My guess is they flew Trump to France and back on the 757 to save money. The President always flys with 2 planes. They will fly him back home on the 747. Also Airforce one is the call sign for any plane that the President is on. It is not one particular plane.

Ireland today is criss crossed with motorways, a lot like your freeways, though a lot less lanes !! The country has changed hugely since your 1985 visit. Any USAF aircraft, becomes Air Force 1 when the President gets on board so in this case, the C-32/757 is AF-1 and when he gets on the chopper that becomes Marine 1.

With that 747 modified for the President position is is able to land in short air friends and take off as well...There is probably a long runway there in Shannon. The Air force has different planes for the President. Usually the Vice President uses the 757. My guess is they flew Trump to France and back on the 757 to save money. The President always flys with 2 planes. They will fly him back home on the 747. Also Airforce one is the call sign for any plane that the President is on. It is not one particular plane.
