My criticism to this explanation is the lack of mention about energy. The reason why thoughts and feelings have an effect is because they are all a form of energy. You can speak a word on your tongue but if your heart means smt else it would not matter. No use saying "MashaAllah" if your heart is still envious. This is the thing that our Prophet Muhammad wish for us to understand. When you say smt, MEAN IT. It is not about the words but the thoughts and feeling behind it. The mindset and intention. The reason why evil eye can override destiny is because of the free will factor in our souls. What happen is our willpower make a bargain with the dark energy to override destiny (our own or someone else's). This is why there is the verse about Allah will not change a people's condition until they change it themselves (more or less). Because Allah truly truly value our free will that even destiny can be overridden by it. Someone who is supposesly destined for smt STILL can use their willpower to choose differently for better or worse. So, nothing can excuse our decisions in The Judgement Day.
