Beautiful. Fantastic work. Like Shenmue 3 though it does demonstrate how important the original third person camera view was to the feel of Shenmue. It just frames the world perfectly and makes the animation look more convincing.

We are the same developers who put the "classic camera" back into Shenmue III, so rest assured that the camera will be as you expect in the final build. This "trailer" was something we originally made to show the ways we can lean further into modernisation, so some things such as the camera had to be adjusted, even though we still wanted to have that same feel, there just wasn't enough time to get our changes working exactly as we wanted.

Bravo. I've just completed Shenmue 1 & working through Shenmue 2 as we speak and I'm loving it (3rd time). This made me so proud to be part of such a tight community of people who are enamoured by this series.

Wow, this looks fantastic for a fan-made project! If I didn't know the context behind this video, I'd be led to believe this was footage from an unreleased official remake by SEGA. Personally, I can't wait to see more footage on how the combat will be like, but that's just one of the many things I'm looking forward to see. Kudos to everyone involved! 👏

Yeah exactly, a lot of details like that are going to be nailed down much closer to when we actually launch (god only knows when). We've just felt so bad about keeping you all in the dark so much.

This fan project looks awesome!. I've always been a fan of Shemue. Mainly 1 & 2, not so much 3 but seeing the environments from both games remade looks incredible. I hope this project gets finished and I get to play it. I'm a fan of yours already.

REMAKE OF SHENMUE 1,2 ET 3 AND THE STORY GOE'S ON
This is perfect the only thing I would fix is the fast jerky camera movement .
Man I've just discovered this project and I'm about to cry! I've been replaying Shen 1-2 at least once a year since they released, and though I was massively disappointed by Shenmue 3 in almost every aspect of the game, everything new related to Shenmue is always very welcome. I hope you could somewhat retain the feeling of the original combat system, which is exactly where Shen 3 failed miserably.
Yeah shenmue I&2 are my favorite games of all time. Shenmue 3 is definitely a horrible game and Im super disappointed that we donated millions of dollars for a game that felt like a few teenagers developed in their mothers basement. The food and stamina system was horrible, the graphics looked corny, the story wasn't good compared to the previous games and nothing felt realistic. There was literally board/carnival games in the remote mountains of China which is incredibly unrealistic. It's almost like they added those games to cover up the lack of content. I feel like we made the producer a millionaire just to get a 200 thousand dollar game in return. People waited a lifetime to get an ending to the story and we got nothing but another cliffhanger ending. If the creator had any honor he would at least give people a book or movie so that his fans could finish the story. There's no way that I would donate more money for a shenmue 4 and make the creator more wealthy. It's almost like he lost his creative abilities as he got older. Something that gets on my nerves is that people on shenmuedojo pretend like shenmue 3 is a good game when it obviously isn't. I can't stand it when people are dishonest! It's literally impossible to enjoy shenmue 3 and this is coming from possibly one of the biggest shenmue fans on the planet. The food/stamina system basically made the game so annoying that it was basically unplayable. Like seriously why couldn't he just give us a regular shenmue game 😒. It didn't even feel like a shenmue game!
@@Shenmue06 I'm with you man, I bought the 300 dollar version of Shen 3 and it was the biggest disappointment of my gaming career. Waited 20 years for an absolute shite. I finished the game once and then uninstalled it and never felt like playing it again, while I'm still replaying Shen 1-2 every year. If Shen 4 should be like Shen 3, I'd rather take a movie or anime to see the end of the story.
This looks amazing. Seeing the white sparing bots reminds me of Bionic Domain. Would love to see a martial arts open world game in that type of world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Incredible but needs few tweaks.
Closer up with ryo, blend the animations bit better walking running fighting. Love the fact you put the bike in but let it also be available in the harbour where we need it most.Looking good, just tidy anims otherwise impressed. Will we see an update soon?

Looks great! My only issue is the proportions on Ryo makes him look a little too cartoony with those giant hands and the legs too far apart
Honestly.... we agree entirely. His head also looks tiny, lol.
Agreed, Ryo's proportions could use some tweaking....seems a bit too tall and lanky compared to the classics, but I'm sure they'll refine it superbly like the rest!

When it's ready. This is why we've had some trepidation about releasing these trailers and screenshots and such. We're a small team, and this is a slow process; but we felt y'all deserve to see that we haven't been doing NOTHING.

1:38 haven't playes shenmue in a while but wasn't that road blocked off? i remember their was a rumor that a school or so was planed but the original team later decided just to block of the road.
1:35 not so much, all the buildings have functional doors and interiors on the Dreamcast, even if you never go inside them and they're totally bare. Not EVERYTHING has been placed in the game world just yet. We really are taking the time to go over each and every little thing with a fine toothed comb, so as great as everything looks here, just know that this is still pretty crazy early development.
1:38 Correct. That was the rumor, but it's not true; that road was always meant to be blocked off. However, we decided it would be nice to use that path to recreate and restore an area that we saw in early trailers such as the Magic Weather trailer (which we also uploaded to this channel)

Yes! Things are starting to shape up, but we're just taking the time to ensure things are where they should be and to not rush too much. Rest assured, it's still being worked on and it's very unlikely it will stop. :)

Today I heard some news about the 3rd chapter getting a new publisher and remembered this project. Shame there haven't been new updates in a long while.
There have been some small updates here and there but they weren't shared as promised by Shenmue Dojo. Aside from this we are still working on the project as of late.

Looks great just think ryo and the movement and camera needs to slow down a lot. The game would be over and done with too quickly.

Is this in development in 2024? The walking of Ryo isnt right. Thats a huge thing that needs to be acurate to the original. After all the way he walks, tells his martial arts background. Amazing work otherwise.
It looks great! I just hope you guy's don't force players to use the stamina bar. The stamina feature ruined shenmue 3 for a lot of people. Please give players the choice because most people don't want it 🙏. I love being able to run around non stop in shenmue! The camera angle and Ryo needs to be fixed but other than that everything looks awesome 😃👍!!

You.... You have read what we've said before about Stamina systems, right? We don't dislike them. We have ISSUES with how they've been used in the series in the past... but they're not outright bad for Shenmue games.
@@teamwulinshu No I haven’t. Tbh it doesn’t matter to me if it has a stamina system or not. I didn’t mind it in SIII. Just jumping on the hate train for April Fool’s sakes.
@@michaeltylerstewart Ahh, fair enough. Either way, yeah, we have a few ideas for how to have a much more organic stamina system. We also feel that it's just a little silly to have Ryo run constantly nonstop, so we're playing with some ideas on how to best balance these.
@@teamwulinshu For a single player game, I don’t really see the importance either way. But I will say that you’re doing God’s work, and I support you 100%. This is what Shenmue I + II remake should have looked like.
@@teamwulinshu Are you going to allow players to choose whether or not they want a stamina bar for running? Why not have an option in the menu to turn it on and off? If you gave players the option everyone would be happy. Several modern games have unlimited running so I don't understand why you think that it's silly. In real life people run for miles every morning so why is it unrealistic for Ryo to run around for miles 🤔?
The graphics look okay but the animations are awful. Hope those are just placeholders…
Oh animations are going to be overhauled entirely. Animations are one of the key things we've been focused on this whole time, and just about every animation you've seen up until now is a placeholder on some level.

None of this is representative of the project other than the underlying systems, the rest of the assets had some changes or were swapped (for example Ryo's character model).
This trailer was produced so that we could show something of the project to attempt to get backing to make it an official entry in the series.
The camera, environments and rest of the assets are as they expect in the real builds of the project.
Please Remove The Blue Stamina Bar. Read up your comments tell you this have a Public Vote on it. Not needed in Shenmue 1 & 2, definitely ruined Shenmue 3 gameplay along with not having Virtua Fighter system. Yeah I'm complaining, my eyes were locked on that Blue Bar as if was playing over what you showing here. Seeing Cut Contents in full working motion is Fantastic. Playing on the Dreamcast since 2000 for love of life don't bring the flaws in! Say it once end off the day this be freely available. Chapter 2 on the Boat or Miao Village becomes available be many happy Congratulations.
Yeah the stamina bar would ruin this for me. Everything else looks great.
