I love this man. The road accident changed everything for Nic. I'm so glad he has these beautiful songs and recordings as a testimony to his enormous talent.

It's a shame that his rights to his own music recordings were stolen and that they just sat deteriorating and decaying... I don't know if he ever got them back. Looking at Mollie Music Shop, I don't think he did. I was delighted that Nic managed a few years back on stage, with Joe and Belinda. He was the only professional artist I ever saw that could get away with singing from a crib sheet. A great entertainer.
Thanks so much for putting this Album on RUclips.I had this album and lent it out, never to see it again!.A great tribute to English Folk and this man's incredible talent.Cheers Jim
Folks who really know great traditional music always look to Nic Jones’s recordings as definitive and unique. We can all trace back the connection to how we were introduced to his music. I’d add Anne Briggs to a short list topped by Nic Jones.
I used to think putting this and Devil to a stranger' on you tube was a shitty thing to do;what happens when Nic & Julia get to release it finally? In view of how long we've been waiting and the ever decreasing likelihood of this happening I think you instead. It's been a long time since, good to hear it all again- I wore out three copies!
I think my previous stance was to do with the mistaken belief that they'd one day be remastered and re-issued.This happened with the first two discs(there were problems here though). Word is,after all this time the masters are likely in poor or unusable condition, begging the question; 'do you have 'Devil to a stranger'-and if so,can you upload it?' Shame you never saw him live-he was sublime.
I waited for Annachie Gordon to be on here for years as a single song and then it appeared but seems to have gone now. It's really annoying. That's by far my favourite.

Had this on a blank dubbed cassette growing up. Part of my DNA now. So soothing. Less intense than his ballades and songs

For my money this album is his best work.
Most beautiful music I have listened in my life.

Thank you for adding this album. Penguin Eggs is an achievement for the ages, but all of his work is top notch!
Many thanks indeed for sharing this album.

a fantastic album - absolutely beautiful. Any chance you could add the track listing to the notes?

My favourite too. I'm going to write a tribute called Anarchy Gordon.
