      Frank, you're crushing it man! 70 days is solid progress - especially coming back from a relapse. That takes real courage. Each day you're building something new. Keep stacking those days brother, we're all rooting for you! 💪

    I can relate to Jess ,both my parents drank when I was growing up and there was fighting. I used to go out with my friends worried my parents would kill each other when I wasn't home . Thank you for this video .They were good parents except for the drinking. I am 60 yrs old ,a baby boomer !! I have been sober 6yrs ,had a small relapse

      Jean, thank you for sharing something so personal. Wow, being a kid in that environment - having to carry that worry about your parents while you're out - that's heavy stuff that no kid should have to deal with. I hear you about them being good parents outside of the drinking too - addiction is complex like that, isn't it? Thank you for watching ❤

    Funny thing about putting water in the bottle of alcohol?? I did that too. I remember how angry my Dad got.. Ruining his Rum… And I remember my Mom always saying that about buying alcohol for company and guests… thank you Jess for sharing your story. And thank you Will. I think it’s a generation thing. I’m quite a bit older than you both. We as a younger generation had to learn how to deal with our “issues “ self soothe. Instead of numbing yourself?? Not trying to sound self righteous here.. no judgement here. I have had anxiety for most of my life, but I learned how to cope with it. I love hearing about addiction & why people make the choices that they do. The make-up in there mindset… I am way to O.C.D. Don’t like something controlling my mind.. I want to be in full mental capacity.. I am not the sharpest tool mentally, so I need everything I have… sorry for sharing too much information..

    I say the same….
    We weren’t taught healthy coping skills growing up.
    Putting the drink or drug down is cake it’s life after.
    I always say…
    Show me how to live with this disease. It’s our choice we can die (easy) or we can do the hardest work & for me it’s to live.

    • @TheWillpowerPodcast
      @TheWillpowerPodcast  2 месяца назад +2

      Man, you hit the nail right on the head here. Putting down the substance is just step one - it's learning how to actually LIVE that's the real work. Love what you said about choice too. The easy path isn't always the right path, and doing that hard inner work is where the real growth happens. ❤❤

    Thanks Jess!
    Wow my mind is blown that she remembers how it felt at 12yo… (inside wondering if I’m normal..
    I remember nothing back then..hmm)

      Everyone's journey and memories are different - there's no 'normal' when it comes to this stuff. Some of us remember everything, some very little. I drive my wife crazy with my memory of everything from so many years ago, yet I can't for the life of me remember where my keys are or future dates of anything remotely important haha
