@@svensantesson2020it just makes it so much easier to cycle betweeen the different modes quickly.. and besides the lcd screen makes it easier to indicate which mode you're on
That seems weird. Can't really comment on it without trying it, but it would seem that the mode could be changed accidentally. I would think I would rather lock the mode in place with a traditional dial. With modern Canon cameras the mode dial for me nearly always stays locked in Fv mode, which allows for maximum flexibility. You set everything, anything or nothing given the circumstances. There is almost no need to change mode, so I rarely turn that dial, and am therefore very happy that it locks in place.
Ill assure you “accidentally” changing it shouldn’t be an issue as you have to click the mode button in the middle of the dial before being able to change the mode. The dial also can be used for other functions while shooting so its pretty useful instead of having a dial just for modes. Also having a physical dial doesn’t really allow much room for expansion, while here it can be changed simply by software updates. That being said, its not much of a big difference as I hardly use that dial too lol.
My mentor Ken doesn’t like that screen and prefers the R6 , so I went with the R6 . I’m hoping the new R5 mark 2 goes back to just a regular dial, but I’m having my doubts
I'm die hard on my Olympus Microfourthirds cameras. Currently with the E-M1X and the E-M5 mark II. BUT, I'm debating starting new with Canon R cameras. I'm at a point where I am feeling lost with my photography. Canon mirrorless seem to be reliable portrait wise and that's my current journey. I just hate jumping ship.
having just got an R5 and still learning i have set one of the 6 Custom configurations (3 photo and 3 video), very easy and for me helpful. i don't see how a user can accidentally change the mode since it takes a pretty good amount of press to change it and then you would need to turn a different dial to take it out of the mode it is in
I freaking love cameras manage the mode through software. It’s easier than the normal dial in my opinion.
I have the EOS R. Have to say that feature is very useful
In which way?

@@jj_matz Ah, thanks for the quick answer!
@@svensantesson2020 no problem, hoped I cleared any of your doubts !
@@jj_matz Yeah, I only own one camera, and Take Pictures Just for fun Sometimes, so There is Always Something new to learn!
This was a one of the reasons for me to upgrade from my R6 to the R5. I can switch modes in a matter of seconds without looking.

That’s why I’m keeping my og R body and R5 is just too much for a hobbyist. R6II is nice, but I’d actually miss that top display I’m afraid
Got r 5 as hobbyist and it’s heavy as shit
I can keep rotating my R6mkii mode dial, and it also keeps going around and around and around 🤷♂️😁
Same lol
Thats one way to say it
Useless video

I like to quickly switch between modes without looking at a screen
It's the best feature
You should use an iPhone, or any phone, to record your videos and keep everything in focus, please!
I would think the sensor would be the best feature
So you can make your own preset of mode in there?
So what is the benefit of the digital screen? Can you have as many modes as you’d like? Why do you love the feature?
Im wondering the same thing... 🤔 I dont have an R5 but maybe you can program an infinite number of modes and settings??
He didn't tell us or showed us. This video failed

Bro casually flexing his expensive camera. (I want one too but no money)
And this video didn't show any modes... Also the AF was horrible

Just use the Fv mode, nothing else required unless you are in bulb mode.
Why is nobody talking about this "great" Canon AF that couldn't even handle this basic video
Your focusing on your camera kinda sucks huh haha 😂
First time I am commenting
Naaaaaaa
Hiiiiiii
Another fact....... you only use ONE mode - manuel ! So ur video is pointless.
So you mean... like the one i had when i was 7? Its not r5 specific.
