Every time you mention that glossy has reflections please also mention that it has brighter, richer, higher contrast, and more natural-looking colors than matte does. I mean the whole "Matte looks just as good, but doesn't have reflections" misconception is what lead to glossy displays almost completely gone from the market, they aren't present AT ALL in the budget to mid-range gaming laptops. Want glossy screen? Buy a 2500$+ OLED model. Yeah no.
I feel exactly the same I loved my old glossy screens as they don’t wash shit out or put a damn frost over everything. As long as it gets bright enough it’s a non issue. Pisses me off the hivemind changed the Meta of certain aspects.
If it had a touch screen, I'd argue you'd be right. That's why I like glossy screens. Why not have an option for both?
Guess what. I have a fix for you and you won’t believe what it is. Buy a fucking external monitor lol i got an Alienware 27 inch 240hz one for less than 300 bucks the other day from fucking Best Buy. You’re welcome.
Completely agreed. Especially if future models could have increased brightness. Getting a glossy screen is a huge improvement over matte imo, and the reflections stop being an issue if you have a bright screen, perhaps 500+ nits.
@@cameronbosch1213 touchscreens work with matte film protection just fine as well, that's not the point. The point is clearer, brightner and more natural image you get with glossy coating. Watch Dave 2D video about it "why nobody did this before?"
I get mine tomorrow I can’t wait. Oled yeah baby.
The first time you press that power button it should only be done in a pitch dark room. You’ll thank me later!
@@andrewmorris3479 haha oh I’ll do it. Every tv in my house is oled but them black levels never get old.
Actually low response time helps a lot, I know it sounds weird but it makes a huge difference. I notice a HUGE difference in monitor response time and how the game plays. Specifically just how quick the reactions are and I’m not even a competitor. I don’t know how people use 3ms screens.
Unfortunately I just found that the ge67 doesn't have G-sync. Will there you notice stutter or tearing on such a great oled display lije this?
@@abodyalharbi3844 G-sync is only useful for low hz monitor shouldnt be a problem with 240hz sense u will never get 1000 fps lol
it works like this: 60hz refresh rate+240 fps will cause tearing bc the screen is confused which frame to show so G-sync put a cap to your fps to whats best
but ur screen has 240hz G-sync wont help a lot
@@ahmadbugshan9603 That's not how it works.
If you have a 240hz screen and you get 100 fps you can still get screen tearing.
It makes a noticeable difference because manufacturers lie about their response times to a hilarious extent. Not even the fastest lcd's in existence has been able to complete an entire refresh window through the whole range within a 240hz refresh time
@Bob Marley He's wrong but not for the reason you said, he literally never said you won't get tearing at 100fps. Where he was wrong was on saying that it isn't beneficial at higher refresh rates when it is. Just like when there's more frames than refreshes in the case of the reverse you'll also get tearing, your monitor will refresh when there's incomplete frames unless they are common denominators ie 60fps at 240hz
Let's gooo he's back with the channel! ❤️
Would you consider doing a UFO test on the screen and show us in a RUclips post? I would really like to see how the screen is doing because it's OLED(Pannel quality ect..)
Check OWNorDisown’s live stream he did last night he shows that.
I don't know how to do it accurately, I could take multiple photos and they would all look a bit different based on where the object is at the time, so seems hard to get it in a useful state for actually comparing between two different machines.
Yeah, those RGB do give the extra fps needed.
“Undoubtedly the clearest and cleanest motion I’ve seen from any modern display, and I include consumer televisions in this statement.” -Vincent Teoh
Hello Jarrod.
It's been quite some time since you reviewed Dell g5 se and you also did an updated video after bios updates.
Well since 2022 some bios updates have rolled out that balance performance and thermlas.
I plan on buying that laptop but on the internet very few people still have updated videos regarding the 1.11 bios update.
Can you a second updated video please?
Thanks in advance
I have the G5 5500 Intel Version with RTX 2070 Max-Q and what I can say is that when temps are below 21 degrees in conjunction with a cooling pad the thermals are great and around 80 on the cpu and 70 on the gpu. That's using 36w in games and 80w on the gpu. However with 28 degree ambient temps here in the UK at the moment I'm not comfortable with it being at 90 on the cpu and 80 on the gpu so I disable turbo boost and get about 75 on cpu and gpu. Another option if the game is completely gpu bound is to use "cool" thermal profile which limits the cpu to like 11w but keeping the gpu at around 75-80w in game. Thermals are again very good.
In spring, autumn and winter you can use the max performance these laptops will give but in summer it's a no.
15.6 inch is simply too small to be considered "the best". The specs are literally perfect, I agree. But that screen size basically handicaps the entire experience.
Eagerly waiting for your lenovo legion 7 review specially the amd version which features a better battery life than its 7i counterpart and as a student battery life is quite essential when considering products at this price range.
I hope he also offers some insights about why the AMD models has such lost in 1% low FPS.
Too expensive tho. £3200
that laptop is gorgeous!
would be great if you can comment on HDR in games, I can’t get it to work properly (FH5, Spider-Man) - only get washed out colors.
Check HDTV test RUclips video uploaded today talking about it.
What display do you use
OLED will have dead pixel and burn in issue. QLED is superior
Hi, what's the best windows laptop for editing and watch movies?
Wait whats the difference between this and the razer blade 15 oled?
How long will it take to get the screen burns in this kind of OLED displays?
This is peak laptop
but how good is it now compared to Razer Blade 16 (2023) ?
yeah I got the MSI GE77 and when I updated the BIOS, I got the washed out screen but I ran the nvidia cleaner and reinstalled it and the TrueColor, and is all good.
It has a 4K 17” panel, not OLED and 120Hz but I wasn’t looking for a high refresh rate. I also connect it to a 27” monitor at 144Hz.
Correct me if I’m wrong but it seems you can’t get a 4K OLED with a high refresh rate.
4K at a high refresh rate costs thousands and thousands dollars worth of tech to achieve I believe lol
2k/1440 @ 144 is the sweet spot in pc gaming atm. Unless competitive the. 240 04 300hz @1080p . Soon when gpus can process 1440 like it can 1080 then it’ll be better I feel
I do have a 43” 4K at 144Hz. This is the Aorus FV43U.
I see the gp66 at lower price a lot of times but I don't find it with a 1440p screen in Canada...
I had the same issue with my unit, all i did was roll back the intel driver and it fixed the washed out screen.
After rolling back the driver and manual checking for updates does your automatically download and install the .1994 Intel driver? I ended up having to use DDU and that fixed it correctly.
@@andrewmorris3479 The updated driver only shows up when scanning for updates using the MSI software. I just don't select it to be installed. This is a windows / Intel issue as I had the same problem with a ASUS laptop that also had an OLED display.
@@RichCompMan Interesting. I tried downloading the latest driver from Intel’s website and when I checked for updates manually it just downloaded the older Intel driver from MSI’s website and installed it over again. Then I gave up and did it the right way according to MSI’s FAQ.
@@andrewmorris3479 Yeah, I just did it the lazy way. Device Manager > Display adapters > Intel (Right Click) > Update drivers > Let Me Pick from List > and just pick the previous version. Windows updates is always breaking stuff.
@@RichCompMan I went through Device Manager and tried to roll back the driver but I didn’t try it exactly as you have shown. The roll back driver option was greyed out so I figured I wouldn’t be able to do it.
There is new Razer blade 15 with OLED 240hz with 1ms response … please review
The $2299 GE67HX is not only a much better value but much more performance for $1000 less.
Will we be getting a Legion 7 video for the latest version
try lenovo thinkpad T14 gen3.. thinkpad always ignore in reviews
Asus rog zephyrus g15 vs Lenovo legion 5?
Hi! What's the best budget gaming laptop under 1000usd?
Legion 5
Legion 5
What model to be exact?
When are you reviewing acer nitro 5 2022 models?
Ive been looking for a new gaming laptop but cannot find one with a glossy screen. Why are they all matte? I cant stand a matte finish especially going from a gloss finish to a matte is just unbareable. I have a gateway p7805u and Im telling you its the way better than any of these new matte finish displays. I can't believe the quality of computers have gotten so bad and that people game on these greyed out screens ugh wtf for real(IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT EARLIER GAMING WAS DONE ON OLD TUBE MONITORS, THEY HAD A GLASS FINISH). I want to use it for emulation, does anyone have any suggestions?
Jarrod! what is the TGP for legion 7 gen 7 rx 6700m?? configuration
Emulation will need this core count
AFAIK it doesnt have GSYNC, same as other MSI laptops this year.
I wonder if for that colour issue if you could uninstall msi true colour, then do windows update then install true colour.
Nope, unfortunately not.
isnt there possibility of tearing with no gsync????
How do I enable gsync on this laptop? The option is not showing up inbthe nvidia control panel. I have the laptop on discrete graphics via the msi command software already.
I’m not 100% sure but I think these aren’t gsync panels. Suprisingly Alienware was one of the only ones with gsync oled panels.
16:9 or 16:10?
Hi, does anyone knows why disabling hybrid mode in Lenovo legion 5 makes colors go washed out?
Can you tell if you had any issues with PWM 480hz even on 100% brightness for this OLED screen?
Issues, no, but it was there.
@@JarrodsLaptops I mean do you have any headache, being exhausted and etc? I read some review, it says it has 480hz PWM on all levels of brightness, no DC dimming and it could be a problem for a people sensitive to PWM OLED. I badly want this laptop but don't know how my eyes will react to this screen.
I got dell g15 and its good. but for some reason it's not as hot as you said when I'm running on battery so maybe its just when it plug in it get hot, idk.
Btw I don't speak English so I maybe made mistake so sorry
It's not as hot on batter because it runs at much lower wattage. Less wattage = less heat.
I don't recommend using it at high loads on battery, as you severely lessen its longevity that way.
@@TabalugaDragon don't worry I only play don't starve together and pvz gw2
@@bfish9700 but most of the time I'm only playing cpu work loads
Lenovo need this display
the pc ia great ..more power more battery use and the gaming performance is better but are better pc and cost less
on the go???
on the sofa. 👍👍
Is this a reupload?
No. Perhaps you're confusing it with the 20+ min video on the main channel
I am here just for the t-shirt
🤘
My issue with oled on laptop is the power draw is significantly higher. I'd like oled for desktop, I'll stick to mini led for laptop.
Is there mini led windows laptops out there? I thought only macbooks has it
@@tiunchi yes, in fact msi released one before Apple did. Dave 2D reviewed it.
@@tiunchi lenovo is releasing that option shortly for the 7 and 7i as well as asus with the x16 flow among others.
Not in dark mode. OLED panels are more efficient in that use case.
Don't know where you got that information from, OLED is _more_ efficient than IPS at indoor brightness levels. It consumes more only at extremely high brightness.
it's been 4 months
360 nits is just low end for an oled. Ips screens get 550 nits legion 5 pro wqhd
Too bright though
Legion 5i gen7 review as soon as possible please!!
3070 vs 3070ti mobile
for 3d rendering etc ?
Also why AMD has so low 1% FPS.
gift me a laptop 😭
love from Bangladesh 😘
The new 4K mini LED titan is way better!
No it is not.
yes it is
I mean, next 5 years this will become another ded laptop
why? it all depends on how you use it.
Doubt it. Thats very future proofed and high performance. Maybe for AAA gaming it might start to show its age but for everything else you use a laptop for it will be beastly still.
There is no such thing as future proof, everything gets obsolete eventually.
The question is whether it meets your needs. Does it make sense to pay 25% more for a laptop that lasts 25% longer (say, 4 instead of 3 years)? Perhaps. But what about the risk that it breaks out of warranty with an uneconomical repair, that things move faster than anticipated and you don't get that 4th or 5th year without truly hating it. Gaming laptops tend to run right on the limits of thermals, and if you don't maintain and clean them fastidiously, things other than the cpu and you can get too hot and degrade over time. Any one of those components on these busy motherboards can take out the entire thing... And because it's all soldered it's a much more expensive replacement than when you could reuse socketed parts and only needed to replace the thing that died, not all of motherboard+CPU+GPU.
I've won and lost on my current machine is coincidentally 5 years old... A big thick P870DM3 dual GPU+desktop CPU UHD 17" Clevo DTR brick I bought less than a year old in 2017 at way less than half price (after flipping the superfluous overkill spec parts) on eBay
I was able to upgrade it to an 8core 9900K and run it at 4.9Ghz with 64gv 3000mhz RAM which is plenty fast, but the 2nd GPU is worthless as SLI is dead and is stuck at a (vbios modded 250W power limited OC'd) GTX1080, as the MXM standard is also dead so the upgrades that are possible are bad value (2080S is not much of a benefit and the 3080M that is, is >>USD$2K... with the issue of compatibility to contend with)
And even then the 4K screen is great with accurate bright colours but its 20-30ms transitions are terrible for fast paced games and would limit the experience anyway
TL;DR even winning the lottery with this there are many many things that render even the most upgradeable laptop on the face of the earth, obsolete eventually
Oh and I modded in detachable water-cooling to handle all the extra heat without the screaming fans didn't drive me insane
@@greebj true. Cuz technology is advancing every day. One day this laptop will be as good as my 1990 model one
