I just rescued two food processors from the garbage thanks to you. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, it enlightened me about repair, and made me feel good about the fight for sustainability of things.
i wish more people stepped back and took the time to learn how to repair things. we take so much for granted, just buy and throw away, and tell ourselves that we will get a better newer one.
Thank you soon very much for sharing with us!! I was given one of these because she said it just quit working and she got a new one and said if i could fix this one then i could have it and if not she would take the blades inside and save them for a back up and throw the processor away
You are a genius. I have never soldered anything before in my life, but followed your excellent instructions today and got my Kitchen Aid food processor working again. Thanks for the wonderful video/tutorial.
Big thanks from Australia - the fuse cost $25AUD to post here but well worth it as mixer is back up and running and another one saved from landfill. Happy wife for xmas cooking prep too!! Great vid mate.
Adding to the Thank You comments, this video helped me rescue my food processor from the trash. This appears like a poor engineering design decision from KitchenAid. Because of a blown fuse many people have probably thrown these food processors out. Thank you again for taking the time to put this together.
Thanks for making this video. Our fuse was blown as well. I figured it would have a self-resetting thermal overload protection - but no such luck, just a slow blowing fuse. Thanks for making this video. It kept this appliance from going to the dump.
Just fixed ours after it sat since Thanksgiving, couldn't make myself throw it away. Ordered an extra fuse just in case, thank you for sharing your knowledge and making this video!
Thank you for this! I'm wondering though, is there any way to put in a resettable fuse for the future so that if it blows, I won't have to go through the soldering steps again? I know nothing about fuses or their specs, so I wouldn't know how to choose an appropriate one.
Wow thank you so much! This was my exact problem! I would have never been able to figure that out on my own. Just curious if anyone else experienced this but I’m wondering if my food processor is spinning slower after this fix. It’s hard to remember what it was like before and I don’t have another one to compare it to… wondering if a bad soldering job can do that.
Thank you for making this video!!!! Let alone identifying the problem. I don't think I've touched a soldering iron in 25 years. Don't drink alot of coffee before attempting this! If anyone needs a fuse just hit me up as buying 6 was the a dollar more than one, I'll be happy to mail you one. I sure hope we don't need many more of them...
Great video, thank you for posting this. I had the exact same issue, verified with my multimeter, and now it is back up and running and I have a couple spare fuses on hand in case this ever happens again. In my case I am the culprit that blew the fuse, let’s just say I won’t be pushing food in there with a wooden spoon ever again.
Awesome! I fixed my mixer as well, thanks to you. I live in Sweden and use 230v, and the fuse did not look exactly like yours. I bought the same fuse you did, and it worked just fine. Thanks!
It was either buy a new unit (already had my original replaced with a "refurbished" unit) or check here to see if it could be fixed. Easy to follow instructions being my first time soldering. Best of all, it is working again! So grateful for your video. Many blessings!
Excellent video and commentary. If it had not been for your video I would not have ventured into soldering and would not have been able to fix this unit. Thank you greatly for your time to prepare this video. My wife thanks you too!
Oh my gosh, I actually did it! Thank you for your very thorough and explanatory video. I have never used solder before I didn't even know what it was really. I bought my food processor a few years ago and used. It may be five times and it went dead and now it's working again yay. 🎉
Dude, thank God for people like you. Thank you so much for taking the time record and post and even put links up. Very much appreciate it Exactly what was wrong with mine
Hi. I just "fixed" mine with the whole plan of opening its guts out. I'm sure you troubleshot everything but what I'm seeing in other DIY vids and in my case, it's a safety lock issue. Kitchen Aid is a top brand and I can't imagine all these expensive food processors just stop working all of a sudden. I think a good percentage is operator error (not in your case). So my coworker gave me hers because it "stopped working" and she got another one. This weekend, I decided to give it a try. Turns out, Kitchen Aid has a three-tier safety mechanism (maybe 2) with the 7 quart food processor. The top lid has to be properly put on (and can easily not be put on properly) which will trigger a switch to come out of the bottom of the container by the handle. This switch is the key that unlocks the safety on the base of the processor. It's not complicated but if the user isn't paying attention and just willy-nilly snapping things in place (can be in the wrong place), then the safety won't properly unlock. I get how Kitchen Aid would have multi-safety mechanisms in place because who wants to have flying blades in their kitchen? Thanks for the video.
Yes the safety switches are always the first think to check and you're right. It is quite the complicated interlock system. My wife seemed to have gotten the blades seized up doing something and I think the current load was just too much and popped the fuse. Deffinetely recommended the first place to start to be those safety switches. With the blades and everything off it's best to try and push them in manually and see if fiddling there will get them to spin.
Thank you!🎉. Damn the man! Called KitchenAid to ask about replacement parts trying not to spend $8 shipping on a .50 fuse. Course they, "don't support self repair" and wanted to give me $100 off a new one. So wasteful for a fifty sent fuse.
You should sell like 6" of Solder, 6" of Desoldering Braid, fuse set for 12 bucks. Not even sure if I have the need to ever touch those stuff again after. lol
Changed the fuse now I get power at least. But it’s blinking and motor not working. I saw another post about a possible in-line motor fuse. May open back up and see
I pulled mine apart. I know it is not "correct" but I am soldering a wire in there, lol. Next time it may let the smoke out of something else. We are OCD and never leave anything plugged in so we will be next to it if anything happens.
Do you know the model of your kitchenaid. And is this link for the fuse all i need and then just add quantity to order. Or do i need to search for something else. Thank you for the very in-depth video. It saved my food processor.
They should release a redesign using a fuse style similar to a car. That way you can just replace it easily using nothing but a screwdriver (to get to the fuse) and your fingers.
I replaced it and it worked fine for a bit but looks like the fuse blew when the cookie dough I had in it became too thick. Good thing I have a second fuse and will replace again but will make sure I'm not putting anything that will put too much resistance on the motor. Will be ordering more fuses just in case. I'm planning to try a 5A fuse to see if it will fair better. Do you think that'll be safe?
I also keep blowing fuses on ours. I would need to analyze the circuit to know if it is safe. I never recommend upsizing resistors without understanding the circuit
Thank you! I just fixed my kitchenaid mixer as well! Very well done video! I think stalling it for a very short time blows the fuse. I didn't feel like using the same fuse however so I found some thin copper wire and used that. Don't know what the next weak link will be but when my wife stalls it again mabye it won't blow the fuse? I'm sure I violated some safety protocols.
Thanks for the video and links, saved me some time diagnosing it myself. I'm going to replace with the same amperage fuse but am curious if anyone has tried going up to a 5 amp or has wired in a better solution like a resettable circuit breaker?
So I have the stack and snap Hamilton beach food processor 10cup it just stopped working also I have owned it for about a year and a half should I toss it ? I mean I would be a novice to try to fix it but I did love it but don’t feel like spending another $60 bucks
I have this same one. It will work but will not spin. I think the coupler on the bottom of the bowl has stripped threads. If that’s what you call it ha! Please help!
My unit stopped working and found a 4 A 125v glass fuse to replace the blown one. It blew as soon as I hit pulse. Any idea on the next place to look for a short in it?
Not sure. Windings in the motor could be shorted and resulting in it instantaneous blowing. Can you easily turn the motor by hand? Or does it seem bound up?
Nevermind, after removing the fuse I could remove the rubber around it. It's a glass cylinder T2.5A250V 3.6x10mm, for anyone else interested. And it is definitely blown, so you may well save me £200 :) Thank you for this video
Leave it to a "modern" manufacturing company to utilize an essentially non-serviceable fuse so the average consumer has to throw the whole thing out. I absolutely revile that way of thinking and doing "business" (I consider it more extortion of the consumer).
So, do you make house calls? I couldn't do this with an audience, after a few frustrating minutes, I'd start to swear!! My bad. I hope this works, because I've run out of patience and at 87 I'm running out of time. Grrr!!! Is this the best they can do when designing an expensive it?
I AM NOT SURE WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED, BUT I WAS GRINDING HARD TOO BIG BROWN SUGAR AND I THINK I SNAPPED SOMETHING, BAM, IT JUST STOPPED, NOW THERE IS NOTHING...WILL NOT TURN ON OR MOAN OR GROWL OR ANYTHING....DO YOU HAVE AN IDEA AS TO WHAT MAY HAVE HAPPENED.....NO MORE LARGE HARD GRINDING....WHOOPS...
Thanks for going back and posting this video. $5 bag of fuses from Amazon and we're up and running.
First time novice solderer here and I fixed my food processor thanks to this tutorial!!!!
I just rescued two food processors from the garbage thanks to you. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video, it enlightened me about repair, and made me feel good about the fight for sustainability of things.
Deffinetely glad to hear. I hate how so much is just throw away and do my best to share a fix when I can!

This is a brilliantly clear instructional video. Thank you so much. My daughter was in tears when hers stopped working.
Thank you so much! You saved us the cost of a new unit. Amazon sells the fuse T4A 250V. Ten cost less than $10 fuses.
Awesome! I fixed my mixer as well, thanks to you. I live in Sweden and use 230v, and the fuse did not look exactly like yours. I bought the same fuse you did, and it worked just fine. Thanks!
I may have made the worst solder in all of history, but this video was awesome and somehow my food processor works now!
You helped me out, Thanks! $0.50 fuse, $8 in shipping, but at least the processor's not in a landfill.
Do you remember what size fuse or where ya ordered it. Can't find the link. Thanks.
@@rodneyhomer3881 I honestly just bypassed the fuse with some 24awg wire.

Hey can you help I just need to find a good fuse replacement supplier, to help with fuse I am looking for
Dude, thank God for people like you. Thank you so much for taking the time record and post and even put links up. Very much appreciate it Exactly what was wrong with mine
OMG! Personal saviour. Watched the video, pulled ours apart and tested the fuse - it was blown. Replaced and it’s good to go.
Thanks for the video. ;)
Where do I get the fuse. Thanks
Thank you thank you. Same problem. Was an easy fix but without your video, it would have been trashed. Thanks again for making it.

Awesome.
Just followed this and have saved myself a few hundred bucks I reckon. 👌👌
More like $60
Thanks for the guidance! I bought a few fuses through your affiliate link - you deserve the micro-commission at very least,
Follow-up: works like a charm 👍
Awesome, followed your video and was able to get my food processor running again!
Thank you! I was about ready to recycle mine, now I have hope. Great job.
Thank you very much for the instruction. I followed them and the Kitchen Aid is working again.
Get a roll of solder wick to clean up the pcb holes. Spring loaded solder suckers work well too.
Awesome! Your video helped me get my food processor back up and running again. Thank you.
Perfect video. Best 2 bucks (for the fuse) that I ever spent! So satisfying. Thanks so much
