    the 9918 was also used in msx1 home computers. the 9938 is the improved version, and there are more improved versions with higher resolutions and colors.

    The TMS9128 is a better choice. You only need that chip plus 2 x 4-bit RAM chips. A 3-chip solution better than the Hackaday static RAM method.

    great work congratulations !! , I can already imagine its use in the RC field, drones or other, in which you can create a video page with all the parameters to be displayed and, if necessary, through a swithc, recall or superimpose the image of the camera with a circuit on screen display 'OSD', I would like to ask you is it difficult to find the components used? ,

    • @DoctorVolt
      @DoctorVolt  2 года назад +1

      The logic chips and the SRAM are stock componets which you can get from any electronic supplier. The VDP is still easy to find on Ebay. You can feed a composite signal into Pin 35 and set Bit 7 in Register 0 to use it for OSD.

    • @salvatorebarbaro5862
      @salvatorebarbaro5862 2 года назад

      @@DoctorVoltgreat news this !! so if you want it is possible to implement the OSD function directly in the library that manages it ... mumble mumble :) opens up very interesting scenarios for your project, even if to tell the truth in the RC field, a limiting factor is the fact that the board has dimensions rather bulky, however it remains a valid alternative when dimensions are of little importance and it is necessary to superimpose data or graphics on a video signal. I will keep in mind your project for my next creation 'remote controlled mower for steep slopes' :) ruclips.net/video/5ANh8GmzzNY/видео.html

    would it be possible to go up to 80 columns in text mode ?

    • @DoctorVolt
      @DoctorVolt  2 года назад

      Unfortunately not, because the 40 columns is a limitation of the TMS9918 itself.

      Not with a 9918. The V9938 will do it. There is also a 256 colour mode on the V9938.
