it's impossible for me to draw up a ranking, I like them madly, all of them, I listen to entire ELO playlists from morning to night, maybe I won't be believed, but it's damned true ❤
I thought this was going to be a strange compilation, but I listened to the entire thing and really appreciated it. It reminded me of some of the older songs I had forgotten about and really showed the evolution of ELO. Thank you!
I have been a fan of ELO for some time now. I have always seen this video recommended to me, and one day decided to check it out. After watching it, I’m glad to say I’ve found my new favorite ELO song: “Standin’ in the Rain” 6:53 simply fantastic! Many thanks to you for posting this!
@@smexykins3065 Thank you for the kind words! Me and my friend Reilly actually did a full ELO album ranking episode on our podcast channel earlier this year if you’re curious and want to check it out! Here’s the link- ruclips.net/video/yJ8CMYK6Mpg/видео.htmlsi=VF41mOFnNV-GehHa
Brilliant! Really enjoyed that. I have all these albums, but this quick run through was excellent. Great idea. Reminded me of so many great songs and favourite tracks and favourite albums. 👍
My top 5 favorites: 1. I'M ALIVE (Xanadu) 2 XANADU (Xanadu) 3. MISSION (A new world record) 4.MISTER KINGDO/NOBODY'S CHILD (Eldorado) 5. THE QUICK AND THE DAFT (Out of the blue)
Fantastic idea..... Brilliant group and songs. Followed them since the 70s and NEVER, EVER get fed up of hearing their music. Did you forget " Great balls of fire " ? ...I know Jeff didn't write it, but neither did he write " Roll over Beethoven "..Great combination.👍
Realmente está enorme banda son Héroes de la Música. Prácticamente al lado de la música de The Beatles,Zeppelin, Credence, BeeGees, Génesis, Deep Purple, Floyd, Moody Blues,Queen, Police.
Thanks so much for this brilliant compilation Jake. I got very emotional listening to it (I have twice in one afternoon). It is the backdrop to my youth from age 12 to 20ish. I was obsessed with ELO ever since I first heard Mr Blue Sky on the radio in ‘78. I went back and bought all the vinyl I could over the next couple of years and subjected my parents and siblings to continual repeated (not exaggerating) plays of every single album track. For me, like I’m sure for a lot of people, the music declined steadily after Time, although there were still many great moments. And for me, it’s the production that dropped away more markedly than the songs. A lot of samey tracks on the last two albums, and even though there are still some decent melodies, the production is so mushy and weak and bland I think. Anyway.. don’t want to finish on a negative. Fantastic ELO and genius (at his peak) Jeff Lynne. Cheers again.
Thank you John, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! That’s awesome that you grew up listening to ELO’s music in the late 70s when they were at their peak; I’m only 23 so I first discovered their songs and albums many years after they were first released, but I’m also happy to have grown up during a time when music is so easily accessible through streaming, as that’s really how I first got into ELO and many of the other 60s-80s bands and artists that I love today! And I also would agree with you that after Time (which I think is a masterpiece) there was a steady decline in their music, although like you said there’s still some really great moments across those later albums (I personally enjoy quite a few of the tracks on Balance of Power and Zoom) Thank you again for the kind words John!
@@jakealt17 I’m so impressed that you’re 23 and appreciate this sort of music. It always thrills me when my mid 20s year old daughters put songs like Sweet Talkin Woman or .. Horace Wimp (which they love) on. I was lucky enough for my dad and uncle to take me to see ELO on the Time tour in 1982. I was 16 and it was my first ever gig. It had a permanent and deep impact on me. I too like many tracks on BOP and Zoom. I thought Zoom was vastly superior to the two albums that followed and it was a shame that it didn’t get the huge promotion that followed later. Just listening to one of my favourites .. Stranger on a Quiet Street.. what a song ! (And yes the production on Zoom is right there!) Cheers.
@@johnmc10538 That’s awesome that your daughters like some of ELO’s songs; the fact that so many younger people appreciate their music shows that it really does stand the rest of time! And wow that’s so cool you got to see them live on the Time tour, I’m very jealous! I’m seeing Jeff for the first (and likely only) time this summer in Chicago and I would love for him to play some songs from Time! (although I’m pretty doubtful he will as it seems a lot of those songs haven’t been performed live since that 82 tour) And I’m glad you like Zoom as well, there’s a lot of great cuts on there! Some of my favorites are Moment in Paradise, Just for Love and Ordinary Dream (and Stranger is really good too!)
Creo que mostrare este video a los incredulos. Para que sepan por que digo que ELO fue la mejor y mas versatil y entretenida banda de rock de los 70. Y Jeff Lynne un maestro.gracias
But 10538 Overture is simply bangin' (is that the word they use nowadays?). Most of the Move songs from Looking On and Message From the County are better than most of the tunes from ELO's first two records.

@AviationMushy737 I’m glad I could help introduce that song to you; it’s one of the many highlights of Out of the Blue for me!
Thanks for watching!
And proper ELO nerd content. We're out here too lads. Chooka chooka.
would love to see another list similar to this (album ranking or something?)
lovely stuff and very rare to see someone as invested in ELO as I am!

This is an outstanding idea!
I wish there were one of these for every band. It reminded me of several forgotten tunes. Thank you!
What a great idea. Good job!
This video is legendary! Jeff is the best
Excellent video. Thank you for posting. Double like.
Thanks for doing this. Jeff's vast library of brilliant work is nothing short of jaw dropping.
Finally someone does it!!
Thanks so much for including the b sides and extra tracks
Bliss ❤
My favorite ELO song is the one where Jeff Lynne is in it

From the song 'Who's that?' I have the ringtone on my phone 😂
Nice.
BEATLES FOREVER GETTING ITS REGONITION LETS GO!
This is perhaps the only time _Xanadu_ would be mentioned in any capacity nowadays.
you forgot MY LORD KING YOU STOOP TO BETRAY YOUR OWN PEOPLE

On my mind, an extra song that was on the zoom album in Japan, I think. Is also missing.
Drum Dreams is missing (B side of I'm Alive).
Agreed!
What's most interesting is how little filler there is compared to a lot of other bands I could name.
@@disgruntledtoons Yep, their albums from 73-81 are near flawless IMO
Ok guys but what about last train to London ?

I don't see 'Drum Dreams' from Xanadu,
Whoops, well if there’s one track I had to miss I guess I’m fine with it being that one lol

Drum dreams was only on the b side of I'm alive, single as far as I know.
Now do ELO part 2
Why?
@@conniebauer4128because they rock
Noooooooooooo
Noo 😅
