For 14 years conservatives have been in power there is no worshipping of the party or the personnel in it and here in india coming to power is a thing of celebration and ego trip between parties. If bjp does not mend its ways they will have same fate as Tories or worse since they are successful on a cult of personality rather than policies.

I won't go into the history of it..coz it just goes in another direction..so coming to your point no I don't think skin color and body features are attributes to gauge a person's caste in India..Infact you will find people of high castes who have physical features which you mentioned. Colour based racism I think is different it exists in India where whiter skin is considered to be more wanted I guess. So in short caste system and skin color are two different things completely in India
I come from Mumbai..Here you will see a lot of marriages which are even intercaste or between the highest of caste and the lowest.. Metropolitan cities I personally think have a higher tolerance coz parents just want their sons and daughters to have a good present and stable future..But I know for a fact the tolerance is lower in villages but they are also getting there in a couple of decades we should see some betterment..
I don't know how caste is perceived in the south .
But in North it is more of a based in class or social status than skin colour or body features .
I know many so called lower caste who are fair skinned with features u explained for Brahmins
