as a male baker who also struggles with depression and anxiety, i have been using your videos as not only learning tools but as a way to escape when things get tough. you are not only an inspiration and wonderful teacher but your positive attitude always seems to pull me out of a dark space. so with that being said i just want to say thank you for helping me in a multitude of ways and please continue to make these videos ❤
Nick! This seriously made my day. I've dealt with anxiety as well and baking (along with yoga) really helped me through. I'm so glad you're enjoying my content. I appreciate you! 🙏
It's not a popular theme, but it was fun to make! And, you could use the techniques in this video (smoothing carved cakes with your hand) for other designs.🙏
Karolyn, this is adorable!!! About your nails, I took my acrylic nails off last year and bought “Hard as Hoofs” cream on Amazon and it was a game changer. My natural nails are super hard and thick now, before they used to be very thin and weak. I highly recommend it! You are such an incredible gift with your great tutorials! ❤🎉🙏🏼
OMG thank you so much! I actually heard about that and found it on Amazon, but I didn't get it. I'll surely buy it now. I've been getting my nails done forever. It's hard to stop, but I absolutely HATE going to the salon and my nails grow so fast, so they only look good for like a week.
I like how you use your strengths to tackle a type of cake that you may not be as confident in. Sculpted cakes are typically so scary! This is a great way to make an animal without it being so unstable! Great work!
Super cute pig. I was surprised you didn’t break out the air brush or dusting colors. I want to tell you thank you from my whole heart. My baking and decorating would not be where it is without you. I have learned so much Karolyn. I could never explain just how much you have meant to me.
This makes me so happy!! I thought about airbrushing it....after it was all finished. I couldn't do it then because I would ruin the decorations and I didn't feel like taking it apart😂
Finally a carved cake i think i could do. You teach me multiple things on a daily basis and more than just cake decorating. Ive seen those hard plastic sculpting tools at the Dollar Tree . I like a lot of icing to cake ratio. Would you recommend not torting this type of cake because of structure? Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜🐷🐖
this is adorable, my only suggestion would be to make the pig's eyes closed.. it's supposed to be a roasted pig lol.. it looks like it's imploring you not to eat it with the eyes open.
Dang. I feel like this is the universe telling me to make the damn pig luau cake for my SIL birthday next weekend. I don’t have a dome pan though. Any ideas on a substitute. I was thinking of just carving it out. Dang. It’s like such an obvious sign. I was about to put it together today and decided to just do a regular cake. 😂
First time seen your video. The cake came out beautiful. It would of being better if u made it brown and the eyes close seens you said its roasted.I left u a like u deserve it.
Lol I thought I would be first here. I clicked as soon as I got the notification. How are there comments from 15 hours ago and 4 hours ago?! Do some people get early access ?
I post my YT content early for the members of my Kake Academy. But you were the first to comment after it went public, so there's something to be said for that! 😂 And, I know, it's taking everything in me to not run to the salon and get dip powder. I stopped going (for now) because I hate getting them done (I know it's only 90 minutes, but it's annoying LOL) and they only look good for about a week until they are grown out. But once the damage grows out, I can get manicures to keep them sharp!
@@KarolynsKakes I get it about the nails lol they only look good first week and then blahhh. On another note, I finally found wilton clear vanilla in store!!!!! They are in a clear bottle now
😂😂 I totally understand the loss of excitement for a design! If you don't have a dome pan, you can just make an 8" on top, but you would have to do more carving to get a rounded shape.

This brought back my memories when I was stationed in Hawaii 😊 I really love your creativity!❤❤
That's on my vacation bucket list 💜
What a fun cake! If I get this request in the future I will reference this video for sure. Tfs

Thanks girl! Yes, I don't torte carved cakes because they hold together better if the layers are thicker.

I look at it differently... I think it does the opposite to implore you. It's creepy if he looks un-alive. Karolyn did a fantastic job, per usual ❤.
Thank you! She actually asked for me to make the cake like this!😂
I appreciate you 🙏
It’s adorable!

Thank you!! She actually asked for it to be like this, but I agree, it would look more realistic if I did it that way 🙏

I think paid memberships offer early access 😊
Also. So strange seeing you without nails lol

Remember your favorite belly cakes😂 That's what it looked like while you were rubbing over the belly😅
Right?! OMG I'm so glad I didn't think of that when I was making this, I'd be so annoyed 😂
Nope, as I watch this it’s actually telling me that my initial thought was correct. I’m just gonna make a regular cake. I don’t have time for this lol

You made a 3D cake 😅
