It's like awaiting a letter from a dear family member. I so very much enjoy your videos when they show up on my feed. I hope you are all doing well. It is great to see the wonderful progress you've made on your homestead in Portugal, which is actually verry similar to the climate of my home in the U.S. Greetings from LA County (San Gabriel Valley) California.
Well I am so happy to see another video I’ve missed you…the house is coming along well and Omar well done with the bathroom not easy….Simon is a godsend isnt he…oh my gosh you door is beautiful it will look amazing once you restore it….can’t wait for the next video…thankyou ❤
Y'all, don't go so long between video's. I know Omar had the tourist thing to do...but I was beginning to get worried. Yesterday when I saw you were putting out a video today, I was relieved! Everything is looking so good! Y'all withem them pants and that jacket had me sweating more than I already am!! 💥💥💥 I know it's heated up for yall since this was made because Ken and Gina are burning up. I don't know the distance between you 2, but I figured an hour to an 1 1/2 hours. The floor in the room to be cemented looks to good to cement over it!! I'm sure there are gaps, but I would Epoxy that floor in and keep them beautiful chunks of.stone and I guess some old roofing tiles to be seen. Maybe not in the bathroom bc Epoxy just alone can be slippery, but wouldn't that be beautiful looking fake rug!!! Like if you left a 8x8 or 5x7 Epoxied and cement the rest!! I wish I was there. I'd make your Mom a bistro table like that. Epoxy and fiberglass is my friend after working on my boat with it!! And believe me, I'm not taking away with all the Fantastic work your doing and your friend the cement King! Omar, don't feel bad about the leaks it happens to pro's!! The water treated sheetrock/gypsum bored is expensive, I can relate. But I am sure glad you got it!! It's all coming together so beautifully! What does your Mom think? Oh, I LOVE the bathroom window!! Neither of mine have windows, just an attack fan....yeek!!! I'm going to fly yall over here for some floor renovation and painting. Free room and bored and meals, with some fun down time. Y'all ever been deep sea fishing? Lay on white sand beaches? See your toes through the saltwater? Eat all the shrimp and gumbo you can stand? Oh crab too!! Have I hit your travel/taste buds yet? Oh, I got an extra room for Mum! Love...🙏🙏❤️❤️🇺🇸🇵🇹⛵️👣😊💯
Haha oh Melinda, lovely message and thank you for every word, it put a big smile on our faces! Well we have been so busy right now trying to get things finished so we can all sit back and relax to appreciate all the hard work, few more weeks and this should be so! I'm (Omar) in the UK doing the tourist thing making some extra money so we can start the next phase of the project after the summer and Andrea is with her mum Helping Simon with the finishing touches.. it's sad that we are not together but it's important we keep the videos flowing and also the money! Hehe, next week there's definitely another video scheduled, stay tuned and much love to you from us both X
@TheIndigoEscape Wonderful news! So happy to hear of the smiles and laughter. That's my job to lift you up when you feeling...oh, is it worth it? Should we just stop? I'm TIRED?! GET UP!!! Your Mum needs a room and is tired of her Grandchildren and ELF! (Ask Andrea, she knows who Elf is) LOL!! So happy about all of your progress!! Oh, I meant to tell y'all since I know most of your Brit tours are in Wales. I knew 3 of my Grandparents are/were of Irish descent. Well, this time when I went back. I found out all are (at least we think there's a great chance they came when the Normans/Vikings in 1010AD. My Grandfather on my Mom's side came by way of WALES!!! I couldn't believe it. When I got home and was going through all this stuff.with my Mom, she says, get this......"Oh yes, Daddy told us when we were little and in school his family is Wales that migrated to Ireland then left for the Carolina's due the Great Potato Famine!" I said, you knew all this time noting I've been researching this stuff over 20years? She just laughed.....I forgot!... Be safe on your travels OMAR!! Oh yeah, I had an old family friend. whatch the Brit house you did last year. She said, WOW, Melinda I didn't know you had friends like that!?! I said, did you press the like button and subscribe and make a comment. She said no. I said, what are you waiting for, I'm not going to text you back until you do! LOL! 🙏❤️🇺🇸🇵🇹
Lots going on nice to see you are growing in your garden love your door it will look beautiful keep plodding on you will get it finished one day you have all worked so hard
You guys are doing awesome! Take all the time you need and don’t feel pressured…we will be there when you have time to make a video… stay cool! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦
Hi guys & gals. House is looking great now. It is fascinating to watch what you all do. Can't wait for the next video. Has Omar done this sort of work before??? If not how does he know what to do with the electrics & plumbing. Simon is wonderful & you muck in & help anywhere. I can hardly believe you have all worked so well together. When it's finished you will not believe the three of you have built it. Thanks for video. Cheers joan at Morecambe.
Yes we have been renevatingnenglish properties in our spare time but this is much more challenging! We always try to pick up new skills and apply the things we learn when we can! All the best :)
So admire you too - not afraid to learn as you go, on camera. Andrea, I'm sure if you are on your own with a wall, you will get that rendering technique in no time. It's not easy to do it in front of a pro with 30,000 people watching. But good on you both for showing us how you learn. If I could do half of what you guys now can, I would be very proud. It's going to be wonderful when you have the shower going. Slow and steady wins the race.
Thank you Annie I appreciate it! There is so much more rendering to do!!! Lol, the whoel house and outbuildings so it is definitely worth learning how to. The shower indoors will be a massive plus but I do love our outdoor shower, specially now with this weather so Im goign to have to set one up somewhere in the future!
Great looking at how your build is going 👍 I like how you went with the water resistant plaster board.💪 Congratulations on your sponsorships. Having a power supply that you can count on is great.
For plaster boards and taps, etc, put board over wall and with a semi heavy object bang where taps, etc, r , then take the board away, and it will mark on back where u need to put hole 😊
We haven’t plaster yet (plaster goes on plaster board) but if you are referring the rendering being done, it is applied in three coats. the first two need to go on rough so the subsequent coats stick to them. the last coat has a nice sponge surface on.
Omar I think you are doing a marvellous job and Simon that plastering is fantastic and one I can see has to be very skilful to do it. Is Simon a builder by trade? he is very good his stone work on the annex is beautiful. You all make a lovely team. It is all coming together nicely.
Thank you! Omar is definitely doing a good job, bless him. Plumbing is not nice at all but he just gets on with it. Simon has been in the trade in Portugal for over 10 years and have picked up several skills. He is also a mechanic, jeweller and a great gardener!
I was about to post that you should always check for leaks before installing the plasterboard, but I see that you figured that out in the normal DIY fashion (been there, done that myself). You have also discovered that these days there is a lot of junk in the plumbing department (also light fixtures, but that's another rant). If you ever do any more plasterboard you need to get a jab / wallboard saw. They are really inexpensive and make cutting out for rafters or plumbing holes super easy and much faster and cleaner that what you can get with a razor knife. You really should anchor the elbows for the shower. Typically here in the US we use "drop ear" 90 degree fittings that have tabs to screw them into a back brace. Another option, since you already have these in and leak-free, is to run metal strapping over the tops of them to screw them down to the support.
Thank you so much for your reply and helpful comment. Unfortunately yes, we have had our fare share of trial and error with fixings. There is also not quick fit plumbing here which even though is plastic, it's super easy to work with. The saga doesnt end here with the plumbing and went pretty retro later on but it works. I'll have a look at wallboard saw for sure! This is the only plasterboard to do for now but it's handy to have tools tha make our lives easier. I think the metal strapping is the one that normally is used here and the 90 degree. Really first time doing with these taps and a lot has been learnt for sure but as we have another shower to do (mum's) this is very helpful info!
HELLO ANDREA & OMAR/SIMON & PUDDY-TATS...I WILL BE CHECKING OUT THE ANKER POWER STATION (THANKYOU FOR THE TUTORIAL) HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT BRAND BEFORE...I LOVE TO SEE STUFF GETTING DONE...YOUR VIDEOS ARE JAM-PACKED & I FIND MYSELF GLUED TO THE WORK IN PROGRESS...SIMON IS A DYNAMO, HE JUST KEEPS GOIN' LIKE THE ENERGIZER BUNNY!...OMAR, THE PLASTERBOARD PANELING JOB LOOKS GREAT & YOU DID FANTASTIC ON THE SHOWER HARDWARE INSTALLATION...YOU'RE BOUND TO RUN INTO SOME ISSUES ALONG THE WAY; DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF...LOOKIN' GOOD!...ALL THE BEST...🙏;)
SImon is definitely like that, he is at it all day. He is a champ! We are lucky to have him. Anker is actually my bluetooth speakers brand an I realised once they contacted us. I was very pleased as my speakers have been going for years and are excellent, so I was very happy to promote it. I think this brand is one to watch for sure. I have been using the battery all day today doing some plumbing

Goodness Omar, that looked frustrating! Top marks for perseverance!
I missed the garden this week Andrea 😃💜.
Muy bien mis hijos, su trabajo hecho con cariño, va tomando hermosa forma.
You should plug all those holes so it keeps rodents out as well as better insulates your home. Happy to see all your progress!
That's a good idea!

So well tempered. Any leaking would send me off, cursing 🤬, effing and blinding. I'd go mad, dont know how you do it, mate

Hi, nice work carry on you too injoy it good new week
Try a large wet sponge on the plaster. It will go on smoother.
We haven’t plaster yet (plaster goes on plaster board) but if you are referring the rendering being done, it is applied in three coats. the first two need to go on rough so the subsequent coats stick to them. the last coat has a nice sponge surface on.

Hold your hod/hud on a slight slope up to the wall. Stand near the wall and with some force push it off the hod on to the wall.
Perhaps buy a stud finder?
Great video guys ❤❤❤
Great video
You will need more length for the shower once the tiles go on.
True, we ended up doing that too
Hi 👋 😊
Will you be creating a gray water system to store water for the garden, washing vehicles or emergency use outdoors?
Yes eventually!
Hi folks I hope your are all ok but where are you.?🙋♀️🙋♀️
not checked all the pipe work for leaks before boarding it up?
have you ever checked on something that then doesn’t work?
@@TheIndigoEscape oh I have but usually because it got knocked around. I just know you want to test water/sewer big time before you enclose it since it is such a pita to get in to after it is covered up
@@LiLBitsDK You are right for sure. It did worked first time btu maybe it should have been tested more thoroughly but as they say, live and learn!
