@HarryKamal-c4d You've got that right. An absolute unmitigated shit show. I say this as I type into my black mirror attention stealing tracking device known as my "phone." Take me back to landlines and malls and carefree days again. I literally want my MTV ...

Pour one out for the still abandoned Ames (formerly Hills) in Horseheads NY like 5 minutes from my childhood home, along with both the Sears and Bradlees that used to be in the nearby mall and the Woolworths that was downtown. This video hits home for me pretty literally.

Nothing like getting those catalogs from sears and others. Going through and looking at all the things u knew you were never going to get but still enjoyed looking at it all. That was our internet basically. If I could go back and relive my childhood in the 80s I would in a heartbeat.

GC Murphy, Grant's, Woolworth, Kaufmann, Joseph Horne, Gimbels and the rest. Magic at Christmas. The window decorations downtown. The jam packed malls. Forgettable gifts. Memories for life. Magic!

I loved Ames. They were my favorite department store. Unlike similar stores, I could always find shoes there that I liked and that fit me...

There is information online that the current owner of the intellectual property, and Ames name is planning a relaunch in the Eastern United States sometime in the next couple of years. We will wait and see if it really happens.

You definitely earned a subscriber here! I'll try my best to let others know about this channel. I was born in 1967 so these times are very special to me. I can honestly say that the 70's and 80's were by far a much better and a far more special time than what we have nowadays. I remember one of our local Shopping Malls. We had a few. Southridge was the one closest to me, but Mayfair wasn't too far away. Brookfield Square however was a bit too far. Same with Northridge Mall. All of those malls had a Sears Store. I remember going there as a kid and going right to Sears & JC Penny's to get their Christmas Catalogs. They decorated the malls with 🎄🎄Trees🎄🎄, Santa Claus🎅, Mrs.Claus🤶, the Elves🧑‍🎄, angels👼, and other great Christmas decorations. With Christmas quickly approaching again this year it's become a special occasion to take time and remember the past. What was, and what we had. The 70's and 80's were incredibly special times. Television specials were a staple for kids. Charlie Brown, Rudolph the Red🔴Nose🔴🦌Reindeer🦌, ☃️Frosty☃️the☃️Snowman☃️, and so many other legendary shows and specials. As I also mentioned above, the JC Penny's Christmas Catalog and the Sears Wish Book were also MUST HAVES for kids and teens. Then on Christmas Eve there was the mini-dinner. Where the Grandparents came over, OR you would go to their house. We used to have Ritz Crackers, that Squeezie🧀Cheese🧀, summer sausage, sliced cheeses and a huge relish tray filled with some great snacks. Sweet Baby Dills, Bread and Butter Slices, 🥕Carrot🥕sticks🥕, 🥒Cucumber🥒slices🥒in vinegar(before you go eww, it's actually really good.), Black and Green🫒Olives🫒, and some other snacks. Church on Christmas Day. I'm not sure how many times I went to Midnight Mass with my Grandparents. The entire time was so special and wonderful. One particular Christmas we had gone over to my Grandparents house late on Christmas Eve night. About 8pm. We had a smaller snack tray. This was done for a reason. They had told me that Santa had come early to my Grandparents house and I was allowed to open a 🎁present🎁. While I was occupied with playing with my new toy, my Dad and Grandpa snuck out. My Grandma sat with me on the 🛋couch🛋 and I dozed off. My Dad woke me up excited and happy. WAKE UP! WAKE UP! You have to see this! I honestly don't remember what time it was, but we ALL packed up everything and we headed across the road. My Grandparents lived across the street from our house. As we got closer to our house I saw little things. It had been snowing and there were "Hoof Prints" and Sleigh Tracks leading to our house. We didn't have a fireplace so Santa improvised. LOL. As we got to our walkway leading to our 🚪front🚪door🚪I noticed that the Hoof Prints and Sleigh Tracks continued to the yard and then past it, as if it landed and then took off again. Back then there was a product that sprayed "Snow" onto 🪟🪟windows🪟🪟, 🚪🚪doors🚪🚪, etc. I saw notes written in this "Snowy" substance, "Santa was HERE!!" "PRESENTS DELIVERED", and other little notes. When we got inside I stood there and nothing looked any different, then I felt a tug on the back of my Pajamas. I turned around and I saw my 🎁present🎁. A little Puppy! 🐶😳🥺😰😢😭🐶 I completely lost my mind! That was why we couldn't wait. This little guy couldn't stay hidden all night. This was one example of some of the best things that my Parents and Grandparents did during the Christmas holidays when I was a kid. I also used to love shopping with my Mom for Christmas 🎁🎁gifts🎁🎁 for my Grandparents and my Dad. Then going out with my Grandparents for a 🎁present🎁 for my Mom. I used to absolutely love doing this. I remember getting my Grandpa a complete "Special Edition Box-Set" of English Leather after shave, cologne, shaving cream, soap, and a Razor and a Leather case. I got my Dad a similar one but it wasn't English Leather it was Brut the following year. I apologize for the LONG comment. However my health has deteriorated quite a bit as of late. ,y Mom passed away from emphysema and I was diagnosed with the same illness. I took care of both of my parents, and after they passed away I wasn't exactly good with dealing with death and I made some really bad choices/decisions. Those were some of the most amazing times of my life and once I start to reminisce I guess I get carried away. I apologize. I've learned a lot since then, starting with my decision to have a procedure done that Removed my head from my *SS. Ironically enough once I realized just how special, how precious, and how short life truly is, I received the Diagnosis that I also had Emphysema. Now if my experience can possibly help someone to NOT make the same mistakes or make the same or similarly foolish decisions like I did, it's worth it! I realized again how special life is. How incredibly precious life is, and how SHORT life is or can be. Don't waste it on bitterness, anger, revenge, or any other number of aggressive actions or feelings. It's not nor is it ever worth it. Especially it the person in question is a family member, a parent, or a brother or sister. Jobs come and go, but Family is forever and once they are gone the pain that will come from that is far greater than the pain that you received from any fight or argument. All my family has passed away. And let me say this being alone IS NOT, REPEAT NOT FUN! But it can be changed of people try. I Hope and 🙏Pray🙏 that everyone has a Wonderful, Special, and Beautiful 🦃Thanksgiving🦃, 🎄Christmas🎄, and a Very Happy and Peaceful New Year!! God Bless us all.
