This pandemic scared me into going cold turkey with my nail biting. Now my anxious habit is taking extreme care of my nails. I am now so emotionally attached to them and spend 1-2, even up to 4 hours sometimes, every day keeping them nice, filed, and just looking nice and healthy. It’s not great though. I get very very stressed and upset if I get a single bubble or chip in my nail polish, or if they’re not all even and uniform, or even if they’re too long or too short. It’s not fun, but sometimes they’ll give me a boost of confidence and I think that’s worth it, at least a little.
Same here... I couldn’t have nails longer than 5 days on... for two years! But atm I have them on for 11 days for the first time and I am getting sweaty cos I have a little lifting
Hey love sorry to barge in to your comments! I bit my nails for yeaaars and I can garantee you that the extreme caring is absolutely normal when yoi first stop and it is ok!!! It will with time pass, and I even took a beautiful picture and put it as a homescreen on my phone so I would see it every time I did something on my phone to remind me to take care of them. One habit I can suggest is also to moisturize your hands all the time, instead of picking on your nails. It helps a lot! Anxiety sucks and I feel you, this quarantine has not helped at all and I had a breakdown and reuined months of caring for my nails, so now I am back on caring for them 24/7 like a maniac 😂 don't give up, it will get better
Kids, Books and Coffee I stopped 4 years ago and the over caring didn’t stop it’s just getting worse like always putting oil on the nails and talking care of the cuticles
I am not a therapist/doctor, but I think that if you are spending 1-4 hours daily on nail care, you should consider discussing whether this is healthy with a therapist. OCD and anxiety disorders can manifest in a number of ways-and spending this much time, with anxiety of something isn’t perfect could be OCD. Again, I am not a therapist, but just a concerned fellow human.
I quit biting a long time ago not because of things but everything else, saaaaame!

@@bronzewolf3 The gel-x system is a soak off gel, they are meant to be removed after 3 to 6 weeks and a new set put on. Hope this helps. xoxo

So beautiful. I used to bite the skin around my nails really bad and it looked like hamburger 🤮 I stopped myself right around the time I started to film RUclips videos because it looked so nasty, now for my anxiety I chew gum, like ALL THE TIME. lol The struggle is real!

Love that you show your nervous habit. Habits like that suck. I have places i can't stop picking at and it really hard to not do it on a subconscious level like you don't even think about it.
I’m a picker too and I actually love having my nails done with acrylics because it makes it so much harder to pick.
@@aniahmatthews936 agreed. It makes them too thick. I have to stay away from stiletto nails i always wanna make them too pointy and thus making it easier to pick.

For anyone watching now, 3 years on, know the little flash cure lamps make life 100% easier( the one where your nail passes under the light, no need to flash cure in the big lamp) Beetles make a good one for example. You still need a big lamp, or a 60 second cure after the flash part tho. Thanks again,great video.😊

Yes. I really enjoy when you do your own nails.
The e-file is the most important thing in my opinion bc when I didn’t have one the nails would pop off within a week and I’d waste so much product on my nails. But even gel will stay on for so long and will not peel off like it used to for me
E-files are super helpful for sure

katherine guevara that happens sometimes to me too. But I did my gel dip nails with my drill and I hope that it will stay on my nails for a while!
Mine this the brush! If you don’t have a high quality brush, your application won’t be as good, therefore you’ll need more filing. Which I absolutely hate. Lol

It’s just a blooming gel so it helps spread the colored gel I used ugly duckling brand but you can also use clear base gels

I used my gel-x kit for most of 2019 and absolutely loved it, but I had to have them off for a bit and then covid hit us. I started biting them before I got the chance to do a whole new set again :( and now I have a party coming up for my grandma’s 80th birthday, and I’d love to have my nails done up! Kiara Sky and Enailcouture both make a flash cure light!! You need one! Enailcouture also has a little flash cute flashlight. They are made for you to get your nail under when doing your own...I used to prop my light up on 2 packs of toiletpaper! Love my small flash cure lights!!

Hi! I have to say you are gorgeous I love your style and I love your videos! I used to bite my nails luckily I quit a long time ago now I do my own manicures with gel and stamping and everything ... I definitely relate about having stuff on them. I hate having bare nails! The only way I was able to quit was putting glue on ones constantly, letting them grow out underneath and then keeping them painted.

I’m on my way to becoming a nail tech. I don’t know what I am doing wrong I watch a lot of prep videos and I try all the steps and yet I have problems with my clients nails lifting no all but sometimes and sometimes the nails just pops off😪, it’s very confusing when I follow the steps carefully I need help bad...
Oh no!! You might need to take a 1 on 1 with someone local to you just having someone show you in person will help so much

I found when l changed from a normal primer to an acid one that helped, acid primer puts little pits in the nail instead of the normal one just acting like double sided sticky tape. I bought mine from amazon for under 5 £ it's the silcare one if your interested. Hope you find out what helps and what doesn't.
