    I had been playing guitar for almost 2 years before I learned how to do pinch harmonics properly. I still love watching every tutorial on them that comes my way just to get more insight from others. I started practicing them the same as you by just throwing them into riffs that I'd play all the time, and I still do, to the point that every time I show my roommate a new riff I learned he just watches with anticipation waiting for that squeal to pop up.

    The problem is they are like Pringles once you pop you can’t stop

    I always had trouble with these until I switched to those little jazz picks, made it way easier for some reason.

    My Dimebag Darrell Razorback with skulls on it is the one I love to do my pitch harmonic home

      Yeah those razorbacks are really good for it I don't know why it seems a lot easier to do it on them than most other guitars. I had one I sold it. It was the lightning bolt one with a bolt on neck. I sold mine for 500 dollars. I'm still regretting it.

    I haven't been subscribed for long, I'd say I found your channel maybe a month or so ago, but you've quickly become my favorite RUclipsr by far. From the down to earth vibe to the sick gear you demo you absolutely kick ass brother and I appreciate you for it 💪🏼

    Thanks Ray, I have been trying to get the basics of the pinch harmonic down and this was really helpful.

    You really do good on pinch harmonics. It's a very special technique. It can be easy but it's not really that easy takes a while to master. zakk Wilde does them more than anybody. I see you got the fishman pick ups that helps with pinch harmonics. Either them or active pick ups help. Zack uses EMG they are the best active pick ups as far as a mid range tone goes.

    It's nice to know that ppl don't get them 100% every time. I'm still trying to perfect it, but it'll never be that way every time. I find it easier to get pinch harmonics holding the pick between my middle finger and thumb.

    I haven't played my guitar in a couple of years now. I remember it took me a long time to get that pinch H and then it started to become natural without thinking too much. That's a good idea to try it with music you like.

    I still can’t really do pinch on the unwound strings. I’m not to bad at em on the low strings, but the highs always seem like a roll of the dice. Lol

    • @timjenkins502
      @timjenkins502 3 года назад

      The light stings are a little more particular on where you pick the string. Try moving to spot where you are trying to pinch.

    Just learn Gojira Magma the whole song is played with pinch harmonics!! Also no one ever says that you can change the pitch of the harmonic by picking up and down the string between the pickups! Like magma is all 3rd fret the note changes happening in the pinch in certain places on the string genius!!!

    I struggle with the Pinch Harmonics on the LOW E string.
    It may be because of my action, I don't have that much space between the string and the the body of the guitar. The action is actually perfect, not buzzing at all, super low and comfortable, but my pinch harmonics suck on it

    i was watching a dimarzio video with phil collen last night and in the middle of a bend he barely taps the string with his palm to do a pinch harmonic with no picking. I didn't even know that could be done.
