For everyone out there : you can just change the "ground slope angle" (which means, the maximum angle on the surface the foliage tool will let you paint on) to a higher value to be able to paint on vertical surfaces :)
Ultimately it really depends on the use case. I can just as easily see doing your way for background assets where accuracy isn't required {yet} so would be potentially much faster - depending on all the usual factors.@@NumenBrothers
Thinking about it more, another good use case for your method would be if you wanted to have foliage like ivy or vines or whatever, hanging down blocking the players view of perhaps a hidden chamber or the likes which would be otherwise problematic. :)
Wait, I'm pretty sure I've painted foliage like that by just changing the parameter that allow spawn until a set slope angle. I think it's one of the parameter of the foliage asset itself.
Yeah I checked and you can set a range of slope angle that your foliage is able to spawn. Just put the max above 90° and it's fine :) I can even see it in the video at the very bottom left. It's "Ground slope angle"
@@NumenBrothers Don't misunderstand it didn't want to be a negative comment, simply after the videos on the ability system and HUD (HotBar) (which were incredible) what you brought wasn't of interest to me, but in my personal opinion you are one of the best in your videos I see that I don't see anywhere else. Congratulations keep it up.

but how can I place foliage on imported static mesh? I am asking couse now I can only place foliage on simple generated meshes from UE...
Ok i figured it out. Static mesh cant be set to movable
awesome i will try it thanks brotha...
how do you get that option when i open the paint brush only size and density appear
this is the most GANGSTER shit I've ever seen in UE5. Your a legend, thank you for this video!
OMG that's fucking brilliant and exactly what I needed. THANK YOU! ❤❤❤
Change the spawn conditions so that it can accept any angle.
That would be even better wouldn't it =P

So there is really is no other way huh
Thank you...
fucking mental bro....wow genius ...so much custom things you can do with shapes in unreal
w o w great solution ! cheers from Rio
Super smart!

Wow thanks for this comment!!!!@@MaximusGDN
this is good but isn't the most optimized way is procedural foliage to scatter random foliage alont the surface of static mesh ?
Sweet! That’s what I’m talking about!
just set max. Ground Slope Angle to 90° on the Foliage paint brush
awesome
Ohh 😂
That so smart ❤😂
niceee
It's a great trick but isn't there a more official way to do it? This feels more like a workaround
Yeah there is. Put every single leaf on manually in Blender. :D
🤣@@sharpiefps7630
If you find a faster, cleaner way, I'm all ears 🙂
Bro for me last caple of videos are not intristing. Bad this is asome tipes👍🏻
Fair enuff 🙃
