My first thought on plugging that hole was to flare a piece of copper tubing then crimp the other end. But your way looked like it will work just as good. Thanks John.
I have been following the series. I had a '66 Ford wagon with a 390, it had the same carb on it you have. I recognise the dashpot and the choke linkage. I rebuilt it a few times, its been decades ago.
I remember back in the day you could buy white gas and coal oil at most service stations. They kept them in a 55 gallon drum with a hand pump on it. You brought your own container to fill. They would even pump it into your old dirty gallon glass jug if you wanted. We never bought Coleman fuel, the white gas from the station was a lot cheaper. Shoot, I even remember running out of gas on the road and searching the bar ditch on the way to a gas station for an old Coke bottle to buy some gas in.
JAMES AZBELL the early motorized lawn mowers in the late 40s and early 50s had to run on white gas. Everyone always kept some white gas to wash auto parts (and bicycle parts).
Those washers you are going to look for are called "high collar washers". I don't know why they're called that. But the OD of the washer is the same diameter as the screw head.
Johnny, Tell ya what, my friend. Next time be sure to wait until the last carb rebuild vid to smarten me up about that...like after I already bought the wrong lock washers. Some friend you are. 😒😛😢😜 Regards, John
Hi John I wish to thank you for ALL your videos on Utube over the years and for letting us in on you and your family. Real American homegrown know how seeped with commonsense from a lifetime of experience. Thank you and much appreciated. Finally you could take a leaf out of Buzz1151 book and paint those coil springs bright red...his radio transformers look great...just sayin... anyway thanks again.
Thank you, Steven. It's also much appreciated. And as for red power transformers...only a dufus would do something like that. Thus the coil springs will have to remain black, my friend. Regards, John
You know John, the week after you throw those saved nuts and bolts and extra stuff away,,, you are going to need all of it lol. btw,, when you talk with Brendan,,, ask him if he ever raced down at Toledo Speedway. And ,,,, the carb looks great.
Carl, Our home track was "Flatrock" Speedway, we raced here for many years! We also raced at Mount Clemens Speed way, before they closed it down. Brendan
@@bdagle Hey Brendan,,, I use to go up to Flatrock when I was a young guy. If I remember some of the Toledo guys raced there. Never got to Mount Clemens.... Oakshade west of us here still has a clay oval,,, Great if ya don't mind getting muddy. Take care pal.
That's what they say, Carl, but I'm becoming a non-believer. I can buy screws, nuts and bolts just as easily downtown at my fav hardware store. Regards, John

You're very welcome, Rich.

That dash pot look sweet as does the carb itself. Really nice job......as usual.
The proof will be in the puddin, Ron. Will the dumb thing function after all the work that's been put into it? 60-40 against it.

John
@@joernone If you don't completely replace those gas lines; I'm afraid that all of your hard work on the carb will be wasted!

Thank you very much Doc. That was very kind of you to say.

Not in my book, my friend. Don't buy any of that stuff.

Jak,
Did it work OK for you?

John
@@joernone Yes, as I recall, it didn't have problems. The choke needed the coil replaced twice and the carb was rebuilt once or twice.
I am curious to see how well the carburetor will end up working.
You're not the only one, my friend, but I think it'll be OK. I've seen much worse-looking carbs than this one operate pretty good.

John
