Using the chainsaw gives you invulnerability frames. Use it as often as possible. Ammo is vital. Don't worry about saving fuel like someone else commented, 1 shotting 1 heavy is not useful if you're handicapping yourself by having no ammo. Meathook is your best friend, learn to use it well. Up close the Super Shotgun does the most single shot damage out of any weapon besides the super weapons. The ballista is great for long distance, it's a far better version of the precision bolt. You can destroy enemy weakpoints with it. It deals heavy damage. Use the ice bomb and get "permafrost" in the suit tab. Pull out the ballista and charge the destroyer blade and shoot out an ice bomb at the same time. This will freeze a bunch of enemies and allow you do massive damage. The chaingun energy shield mod gives you invincibility to almost everything including fall damage, but not AoE damage like cyber mancubus goo.

@ImRecap yeah, using every weapon is definitely the biggest step to conquering combat, but it's definitely difficult, especially being thrown into Ultra Nightmare, haha. You do utilise your current weapon selection really well, just gradually try adding another weapon in there. The chaingun with the shield is the biggest lifesaver in the game by far so I recommend that. As soon as you're low HP just activate that bad boy, get some distance, get a few fodder demons into glory kill state, and get some health back. It's basically a panic button lol.
Fair enough to be fair i am fairly accustomed to playing ultra nightmare your not wrong tho by saying to use the chainsaw as much as possible it mostly comes down to your playstyle ammo is not too much of a concern for me because you always get 1 chainsaw fuel back anyway whether you kill 3 foder demons or one heavy demon is all up to preference(I know you get more ammo from killing 3 foder demons I just prefer to prioritize heavy demons more my playstyle isn't very efficient tho) your tip is more useful
Also by the time I run out of ammo I can chainsaw a foder demon because the regen for the chainsaw fuel is fairly quick foder demons always spawn(there are exceptions to this) as long as their are heavy demons I get more value by eliminating a heavy demon of the board because they don't come back the down side that you pointed out is that they don't give as much ammo on the other hand if I kill 3 foder demons I get little to no value because as stated above foder demons usually respawn as long as heavy demons are around the upside is it offers more ammo I am also pretty sure it's also quicker because you don't have to wait for the chainsaw to refuel you can just get ammo at anytime in the fight (by the way tell me if I am wrong i am pretty sure I might be? just to clarify on this I want you to share your experiences as I am sure I can learn something new from you )
Loved this video, 1hr of this was a treat! I was hoping to see the part 2, now waiting for part 3. In the end of Super Gore Nest all you need to do really is just run for it, when you see the 2 mancubus again just put a freeze grenade in the middle and keep running, there's no point in wasting time and fighting them. Definitely try to use/quickswitch to ballista more often, maybe even try to go for a precision bolt + ballista shot it's a very common quickswitch for good damage. The blue orb you passed at 1:13:30 refills all of your health and armor which is very useful in situations like in the stated timeline especially in UN. As you progress and get the Air Control try to jump around more and use bounce pads, you're much harder to hit if you're in the air. There is also a very useful mastery for the super shotgun which gives you armor every time you meathook onto demons, it's literally free armor of +20 generation. I forgot to mention, always take the sentinel crystals first in the ship with the sentinel batteries when you get back from Doom Hunter Base, you're gonna need those extra health/armor/ammo as early as possible, ESPECIALLY in UN. Anyways this run was way better than the first one, with this pace you will definitely beat UN as a new player if you utilize your arsenal well. Hope to see a part 3 some day!
I'm really enjoying this series. I've beaten the game on Ultra-Nightmare, and spent a TON of time practicing, routing, and learning the individual encounters. Watching your approach to Ultra NIghtmare is super fun, but man you've taken a masochistic approach. There's a ton of tutorials and info out there, Under The Mayo has a great series talking about the falter mechanic. Essentially, much like a fighting game, you can combo and stunlock enemies, and absolutely trash them. You've picked an immensely punishing way to go about trying to learn the game.
Dude I'm so proud of you! Beating the doom hunters from the first try is truly impressive bro! The most important tip is to use your super shotgun as often as possible, this should be your bread and butter as soon as you acquire it. Especially when demons get close to you. And the meathook is your primary mobility booster.

Dude, I'm so proud of you man. The thing you did with the super shotgun meathook in 4th mission is an advance movement technique that allow the Slayer to move super fast across the arena. Speedrunner combine this technique with weapon wheel to create Yeethook
Whenever you go into an encounter don’t try to remember 10 things (like flame belch, chainsaw, weapon switching, etc)just try to remember 1 thing. If you try to remember to many things you will be overwhelmed but if you just try to remember one thing it will become muscle memory
First of all, I am impressed. You really have some good game sense. Second of all, I have a few tips for your next run: 1. Those blue orbs with a face you sometimes see restore all your healt and armor 2. Those purple orbs with a skull inside are powerups called onslaught and multiplies all your damage by four 3. I saw you had a few fps drops like at 23:22, try lowering you video settings to get higher fps for a smoother gameplay. It really helps. 4. Read the codex, because for some demons it tells their weak points.
Congrats on beating the Doom Hunters first try, it was rlly nice to see you improve and slowly incorporate flame belch. Tip for that last part, just run lol. You dont gotta kill the demons so focus on getting out of there and ice belch if you really feel like you're getting cramped.

I would say the most important things in the game are the super shotgun and the dash. Movement is key, so mastering the super shotgun’s meat hook and upgrading your dash is very important. Really any upgrade that allows you to move faster or easier is important. You are doing insanely well though and you gotta keep at it! But for things to work on going forward I recommend focusing on the super shotgun and meat hook, that is what I believe to be the most important weapon in the game, but you’re insanely good and I am excited to see how you will do next time
The single most important tip for this game: it’s _always_ faster to swap to a different weapon than to wait for the next shot, or wait through a reload animation.
Love the series. Your gameplay is improving every run and death. You'll get this done. 2 things I recommend to help; 1.upgrade your suit's movement skills before your grenades. They will give you Fast dash refill, fast ledge grab, fast weapon swap, glory kill dash refill. They are the best. 2. Upgrade your suit to have 'immunity to barrel explosions' . Barrels can kill you easily in the early game and end your UN run. Keep up the great work!
Man, you made a great progress. It’s great pleasure to see how you started to use slayers stuff - flame, grenades, ice bomb and so on and transforming to real Doom Slayer. Now i see, that you can beat this incredible challenge! Thx for so cool content! It took me a few months to complete UN, but firstly I passed the game a few times. You’re really strong, man. My advice - you should increase fov to 100 at least - so you will better see what’s happening in the left and right around you. Good luck! Waiting next video! You are doing amazing!! I recommend getting the shield upgrade on the chaingun (it makes you invincible while the shield lasts from every angle, it's the best upgrade for survivability by far) and the fire hook on the super shotgun for easy armor. Hope it helps, gl :)
This has got to be my new favorite doom eternal video and two tips make sure to use the ballista and the chain gun I will not express this enough. They are probably the two most broken guns in the game besides the BFG and you can just straight up run through that part you do not need to fight a single enemy.
There are the weakpoints the game tells you about, but there are some others you can know by reading the codex, like the Cacodemons dying with just one Arbalest shot and Pinkys and Spectres being instakilled by the Blood Punch. Also when using a single shot weapon, like the Super Shotgun or the Ballista swapping the weapon for another one skips the reloading animation
Dude love these doom eternal videos they really are a blast to watch. As a guy who beat Doom Eternal on ultra nightmare I have a few suggestions for you: 1) You have to get used to weapon swapping a lot to maximize your dps if you want to have an easier time especially in the later levels. What I mean by that is after the first 3 levels you will have enough weapons and weapon mods to shoot with precision bolt swap to rocket, fire a single one or lock on swap to super shotgun + meathook... and so on. You dont have to do this in the early levels but starting with Super Gore Nest the levels becomes more and more challenging and throws more demons at you. Swapping your weapons makes their recharge time quicker. 2) NEVER STOP MOVING! You may think that you know where all the demons are but trust me you dont and you will die. Prowlers can teleport, carcass can block your way out with an energy shield, cacodemons and shotgunners are sneaky etc etc. This is probably the first thing you need to learn and implement. Always dash around and use meathook after acquiring super shotgun. 3) In suit upgrades your priorities should be the one that charge your dash faster, swap your guns faster, immunity to explosive(this doesnt make you immune to rocket splash damage tho remember that) and normal granade upgrades. 4) Be calm dont try to rush a level or an arena. Always try to kill the demons in the air first cause in battles air is your most safe travelling method. 5) Upgrade and master super shotgun as soon as you can it will save you so get used to using super shotgun instead of combat shotgun. On level 3 try to save your weapon points and use them on super shotgun when you acquire it. After that upgrade lock on rocket starting with lock on speed. 6) Attend the weapon keybinds to what you feel comftable. For example I use Q for Rockets and ALT for ballista. Customize them to your liking and get used to it. 7) Always try to use flame belch on grouped up smaller demons if you can, even if you have full armor. Those armor shard stay on the ground for a while and save your life when you take damage. Just remember where they are and rush to them. Big demons are not worth to use the flame belch as they extinguish too quickly(unless you have the upgrade for that). 8) Prioritize weak point on the enemies: Shoot the arachnatron turret, mancubus hands, rocket launchers of revanants and so on. Airborne enemies have a weakness to ballista(you can learn this type of stuff in the codex so read it). You can kill a cacodemon with a ballista shot to super shotgun to the face. 9) Doom Hunters: You dont have to destroy their shield to damage them, you just have to damage their sled. Use ice bomb to freeze then super shotgun + rocket or blood punch until it breaks and then just use lock on for an easy kill. also a full lock on rocket kills hell knights, whiplashes, revanants, cacodemons and puts dread knights to glorykill state. A super shotgun upclose kills prowlers, carcasses with one shot and sometimes puts revanants in glory kill state. A blood punch kill pinkies even from front. 10) If you want to complete ultra nightmare without ever trying normal diffuculties, remember to have fun cause if you get bored, you will lose focus and die. I really hope you stay engaged in the game and enjoy it because this challenge would probably cost me my sanity so hats off to you for even trying this much after 40 deaths. As the Game Director Hugo Martin said the Ultra-Nightmare is for the black belts of the Doom Eternal. I believe you can achieve it as you are already doing amazing. Oh and- AGAINST ALL THE EVIL THAT HELL CON CONJURE ALL THE WICKEDNESS THAT MANKIND CAN PRODUCE WE WILL SEND UNTO THEM, ONLY YOU *RIP AND TEAR UNTIL IT IS DONE!*
Thanks for the tips! I didn't know, or I guess give any thought to, the fact that the armor shards would stay on the ground from my flamebelch. I was always trying to wait to use it until I was at least hit a little but that's a good idea to just keep spamming it whenever. And yeah I def want to get better at using my entire arsenal, especially the super shotgun cause that thing was sick!
When you get into focus mode then you play really well, your aim is really good so it’s clear you’re not new to FPS. You likewise eventually do get new techniques drilled into your head, your flamebelch and utility usage is really good. I’d say the rest of what you lack is just general gun knowledge, so I have a few tips for you: -the optional pink gore nest encounters will give you additional weapon upgrade points to level up your arsenal faster and are usually quite easy (the second one on lvl 3 is actually weirdly difficult so you can def skip that one), likewise completing mission bonus objectives (can be found in the map pause menu) will also give additional sentinel coins to upgrade your suit. Again these are all optional but can be useful for getting a better advantage earlier. The map menu will also help you find other missed upgrades if needed, it’s useful to give it a look over at the end of the mission so you can use fast travel (won’t be risking fighting enemies again) and find anything you missed that you think you’ll need. -The plasma rifle is highly underrated, the heat blast has a “force falter” effect meaning if a bunch of enemies are about to pound you, the heat blast will force them all to stumble while you dash away, even a lowest charge heat blast will force falter. The blood punch also has this effect, so do frags once you upgrade them for it. This is a bit advanced but will many times be the difference between living or not. So when you see a mancubus, try lobbing a frag or using heat blast to get close, use a blood punch, then dash away while sustaining fire. This is also very useful for the whiplash enemies as it relies on splash damage to hit them rather than having to aim precise shots on their skinny figure. Just be mindful that enemies will hit back hard with their melee attacks so stay on your feet! -Don’t be afraid to just spam sticky bombs, no normal shots needed! The reload is fast so you can just go to town with them. Working on the mastery by shooting every arachno turret with it after buying the upgrades is also definitely worth so that you can get the 5 shot. This, as well as meathook flame, is the among the best weapon mastery upgrades. Also the sticky’s explosion will stagger a zombie soldier, a direct hit will kill it. So if you need a quick glory kill on a full hp soldier, shoot a sticky at its feet. -Lock-on-burst will stagger a full hp arachnotron and Dreadknight. -Get used to using your meathook and SSG a LOT more, like even try to force yourself to use it. Again in combo with utility and blood punch, you can get good damage from it and clear waves in seconds. -The Doom Hunter fight went shockingly well for you but it is notorious for ending UN runs. The best way to deal huge damage while the Hunter is in its first phase is to freeze and blood punch the sled, it takes extra damage from the punch. If you add the upgrade that increases damage dealt to frozen enemies then you almost totally wreck its first phase, just add a frag and an SSG shot and it’s done. Make sure to dash out in time so you don’t get smacked. I would honestly ignore shooting plasma at its shield as it’s just time consuming and the point is to break its sled in its first phase, so you can just spam aoe damage until the sled breaks (stickies, rockets, frags). -Lastly, weapon swap combos aren’t necessary but will help you loads, especially against the marauder. I highly recommend practicing weapon swap comboing with the sniper+rocket launcher, as well as sniper+SSG and sniper+ballista. The marauder will make your life miserable if quick swap combos aren’t used.

one of the best strategies for dealing damage is quickly switching between single shot weapons like SSG/ballista + the energy shield mod on the chaingun is very strong and will save your life on many occasions. great video!!
When you use a sniper and it has to reload punch instead of waiting to reload because whenever you switch to a weapon and then switch back to the heavy canon you can instantly snipe again. Since your fist counts as a different weapon you can snipe then punch then snipe then punch then snip etc. It lets you get some INSANE damage output.
Quick tips for the 1st and 3rd arachnotron In the start : Save 3 Chainsaw fuels To insta kill the First Arachnotron. And for the 3rd one (one in the hallway) you dont need to actually fight ANY enemies there, Just Quickly take his Turret thing out with your Sticky Shotgun and run past them.
After watching this all the way through, dude you kicked ass. Getting through level 4 and 5 without any knowledge of spawns and learning new enemies on the fly is super impressive. I don’t wanna spoil anything, but the next time you play and happen to get through Super Gore Nest, the game WILL start throwing a lot more at you since your arsenal will be mostly complete by then. And then the boss fights will be tough since you won’t have any experience with them. Regardless, you are a true slayer, brother!
Bro doing Gore nest blind Ultra Nightmare and getting to the end is INCREDIBLE. The only thing that killed you was that you don't know the spawns at the end yet.. Dude playing at this level blind is ridiculous.I really think when you get to the marauder (he will kill you) you should just watch a video on how to deal with them before trying again. Because getting that far not knowing about them is just cruel. You can still be using the flaming belch alot more. Using it on nearly every demon kill is key. And getting the option that allows you to get armor every meathook is so good.

Some tips specific for early game: 1. Constantly use sticky bombs and sniper shot. They should always be in use or on cooldown 2. Constantly bunny hop 3. Plasma rifle is the goat of early game, shoot small enemies to FULL charge blast, find and flame belch big enemy, blast, repeat 4. Trust the process! You will build muscle memory especially with flame belch to the point you instinctively press it before every blast, grenade, glory kill, chainsaw kill 5. Staying still is never an option, if you miss a shot just move on and circle back Good luck! I believe in you!
some tips: 1. Always focus on enemy weakpoints. Best way to do that is with the sticky bombs or precision bolt as they will be your best friend. 2. When the maurader comes, be ready. He is an absoloute unit but hes not awful in a 1v1. Tutorial will tell you how to deal with him but i mostly leave them till last in fight arenas. 3. Super shotgun + Balista combo (Use Q to quickly swap back and forth to offset any time having to reload) is a great way to deal with any big enemies (Especially the marauder (Super shotgun to stun him then swap to balista, shoot, then swap to balista, shoot and over and over till the stun window is over) )with a lot of health once their armour is off or if they dont have armour. 4. Focus on the Super shotgun and sticky bomb mastery upgrades. The sticky bombs one is less important but very nice to have. 5. READ THE CODEX ENTRIES ON NEW ENEMIES. This is your main way of seeing what their weakpoints are, what ammo types they are vulnerable to and how they operate. 6. Its been a while since i have played the base campaign but spec your sentinal crystals into everything but the two that pickup health/armour to charge blood punch when at max health/armour as these are, imo, the weakest sentinal crystal upgrades. 7. Use the chaingun on the big enemies that dont have armour as there are A METRIC FK TON of them in the later game and the chaingun eats through them (along with your ammo) 8. Just do everything in your power to stay alive, even if that means playing like a bit of a pussy, just stay alive yet always move. 9. Focus big enemies one by one, dont go for all of them at once unless you can blow off multiple weakpoints with a couple sticky bombs in the middle of a crowd. 10. My personal runes were the one that makes you glory kill faster, the one thats gives you a huge speed boost after a glory kill and the one that gives extra air control ( I cannot play without the third one /: ) These are what got me through the game when i played for the first time. I didnt include anything about movement cause i just use dash whenever its feels right and always make sure im moving so i dont get trapped. Good Luck!
GG for trying UN with very few hours on your counter. I'm at at least 1400 hours (had the Bethesda louncher for the longest time, that does not track gaming hours, so had to guesstimate my playtime befor they migrated to steam finally). Some tips that can be helpful to you: 1. the first 3 levels (HoE, Exultia, CB) are the toughest in the campagne 2. use 3-pip chainsaw to get rid of the heavies (Arachno + Hell Knight) strattegically in HoE and Exultia 3. use the full auto mod to melt heavies in HoE rather than stickies 4. set an upgrade strategy depending on your play style and stick to it, tune when you feel like it but most importantly, stay with a strat and learn from it. Here's 2 examples strats for a) speed and quicksaps (QS) play style or b) defensive play style if you get lost on your keyboard and are not comfy with QS like I am. 4a for suit percs get "quick sapper" first when you are comfortable with (QS). When you can nail precision-bolt (PB)+ Sticky bombs and then PB + Rockets and PB- super shot gun (SSG) you're basically over powered straight ahead from cultist base on. Then get the faster dasher, then decide if you upgrade grenades or ice bomb or thicker skin if you find you die from exploding barrels. 4a for cristals get quick draw belsh first, then decide if you prefer loot magnet or napalm belch 4a for runes get air control first, then blood fuled and decide if you prefer savagery or equipment fiend 4a for weapons fully upgrade PB and get bigger boom for sticky bomb, then SSG fully and master PB and meathook ASAP. Decide which upgrade makes more sense to you next. 4b for suit percs faster dasher, then grappler, then quick swapper 4b for cristals Loot magnet first, then quick draw belch, then napalm belch 4b for runes first dazed and confused, then air control, then decide if you prefer blood fueld or equipment fiend. 4b for weapons keep all upgrade points untill you get the super shot gun and rocket louncher in cultist base, upgrade lock on louncher fully and super shotgun fully in cultist base and master them ASAP. ADDITIONAL TIPPS: - use the batteries to get the cristals first inside the hub, then get the preator suit points, get the upgrades last - if you're not a completionist, leave the slayer gates on your UN runs, they only serve to get the Unmakyr and its below the BFG imho - get used to PB-balista the mancubus canons and revenant rocket launcher from afar - the ID Tech engine (graphics engine) on which the game is built is kind of wonky: the higher your FPS, the faster the game. When your framer ate is capped at 60 or 120 or if you play above 120 or even permanently at 250 you get considerable different experiences. All the enemies and you as the player move faster the higher the FPS - you experienced yeet hook in cultist base, look it up, it's powerful - max out the field of view (FOV) to 120 - doom hunters get off their sled with the blood punch (BP), grenade, SSG combo - upgrading the ice bomb to longer freez heavy deamons is useful against doom hunters and archviles speically - if you find you like the BP a lot, there's a dedicated upgrade strat for BP. - you don't need to battle on the way out of super gore nest (SGN), just run and void every body, those 2 mancubus you got stuck on are just for show, there's a Marauder later in this escape as well, just blitz by. - you can swap runes during your game. Swap one rune for saving throw when you get dangerously low on health until you recover. Swap back to your initial rune once you res-tacked health. Cheers, hope this helps.

Pb and sticky grenades attack most of enemies weak points. Mancubis cannon, aracnitron laser, revenants shoulder cannon. Another one is the doom hunter, you can just attack its sled instead of stunning it with the plasma rifle. Usually any weapon will work just pb and ssg are good. Also if you switch from pb to another weapon back to pb, the pb will get rid of any cooldown that weapon has
@ yea np, big thanks to all of the speed runners in doom eternal and 2016, hot swapping is in both games but eternal focuses on it more, also the pb completely gets rid of it but if you go ssg->ballista-> ssg. The cooldown will somewhat be there, it’s just better to do (pb-> ssg/ballista/rocket->pb) just over and over but it does take some time and skill to learn how to switch between every weapon at will. Also punch canceling is like pb but it’s a little bit harder. They count your melee as a weapon, so that’s why most speedrunners shoot a rocket then punch, it just gets rid of the cooldown like pb. So yea if you need anymore tips, just go watch absolute massives 100% Speedrun wr. That’s where I found most tricks
chainsaw is probably the most important utility like, ever. its going to be ur best friend for literally ever. you’re almost always either completely out of ammo or extremely close to it a lot of the time so make sure you give it some love. utilise movement as well. once you have the movement rune itll be your other best friend forever. make your keybinds something you can comfortably move to and remember about too. priority should be: chainsaw anytime you take damage take note of your armour first. if its too low for your liking then go in and flame belch but be careful because you’ll be really close to them again, movement is extremely important as well. try not to dash too much and waste them because you cant regenerate them in the air. make sure to try and prioritise certain enemies too. hardest to easiest (use the fodder whenever you need to as well). glory kills are good as well but if youre going for it, use your flame belch before you do it too so you can get your armour back too. hopefully this info helps you out!!!
damn not knowing anything beforehand and jump straight to UN and get to Super Gore Nest is super impressive. I wanna share some tips here so wall of texts imcoming (sorry): -Try spams sticky bomb more on early level because a sticky can get you guaranteed kill on a fodder, plus it AOE is better for group, one sticky on a group is always better than shot them individuality, its more ammo efficiency that way (plus regular shot suck) - Sticky bombs can be crit if you lands it on the head, a crit will increase damage and got bigger AOE. You can tell if it's a crit or not by theirs flashes, flashes blue=crit - Always uses flame on group unless you're on 1hp and panic, if that happen you can quickly flame+chainsaw a fodder for quick armor+ (keep in mind if you do that too fast the flame sometime wont register) - You should save your weapon point for your lock-on rocket and super shotgun. For the lock-on getting faster lock speed is sooo much better and more manageable. As for the super shotgun (SSG) it first two upgrades might not seem that useful but its mastery perk is a game changer, it'll light demon on fire if you hook onto them for short period of time, acting like a single target flame belch. It'll save you on life or death situation. You will have to do the mastery challenge to get it but it's one of the easiest mastery challenge you can do in the game and you will get them naturally if you using the SSG more frequently. It's also good if you combine that with the equipment fiend rune because when you getting armor from a hook kill the rune will count it as equipment kill and therefore your flame belch will recharge faster. - Learn how to ultilize the meat hook on the SSG more is or also a key, like for example in 58:52 what you done is called a "yeet hook" and it's the bread and butter of doom eternal speedrunning. Basically if you hook onto something and you hold strafe and while holding strafe you cut off the hook by switching to another weapon you can swing really fast to the direction youre holding (its also depends on how much fps you had, more fps=more speed). Yeet hooking is just one of many cool thing you can do with the meat hook. You can use it to get airborne or get to higher platform simply by double jump->hooking onto an enemy and then jump again (the hook will reset your jump mid-air). You can also redirect yourself mid-air to get into better position with that method. You can also hooking onto a stagger enemy from far away to get a quick glory kill (plus some armor if you had it mastery) - The Doom Hunter is extremely weak to blood punches. It might not be as useful on the boss fight since the boss version got more health and your blood punch haven't gotten upgrade at that point (but it still does decent amount of damage) but once they become common enemy a freeze->blood punch->a direct 1-2 SSG shots to his sled will instantly knock him to his "critical damage" phase and from that point just 1 lock-on and he's pretty much dead. - As for Pinkies aside from shooting at his butt you can one shot it simply by blood punching it, head or tail doesnt matter because blood punches goes straight through his protected armor. Invicible pinkies (or spectre pinkies) work the same way plus they don't had their head protected like the normal one so you can just shoot them wherever you want. - The red pit on level 4 cultist base is extremely easy if you uses the cueballs demon right. Do not wasting them, use them to your advantage. - The last part of super gore nest are just an escape section so you can just run pass everything to get to the end so don't bother killing them it'll only waste your time - You might wanna experiment with your FOV option more because in a game this fast-paced a default 90 FOV might not be enough especially when you're surrounded on a big arena fight. I'd recommend to crank it up to 110 or even 120 (120 might sound a bit much but its actually not that bad in this game) of course do whatever you're comfortable with. - If you getting tired of King Novik speech you can simply get a mod to skip that, it's also help you skips some unnecessary unskipable cutscenes, sped up or skip entire elevator section. Installing it is very easy, simply right click on Doom Eternal in your steam libary->properties->betas and set beta participation to "pc mod preview". And whenever you start the game a launcher will pop up, go to "Mods" tab and go to "Browse" login to your bethesda account, once you logged in search "streamlined campaign", download it and go to "Play Mods" and drag the mod on "Installed mods" to "Active Mods" and then press the green button that said "Play DOOM Eternal with mods" on top right. Whenever you want to play with that mod again you have to launch the game via that green button or else the mod won't work
Something that I do is use the chainsaw as a panic button when you’re about to die. I believe you get some health from it. When doing this also try to use flame belch so you can get armor as well. You can do this!
Don’t try to remember 10 things every encounter (flame belch,weapon switching, chainsaw,etc) just try to remember 1 thing. If you try to remember 10 things you will be overwhelmed but if you just try to remember 1 thing It will become muscle memory.
I have some tips for you If you go to where you would normally go in the first section And get passed all the zombies but turn left instead of right You will find a breakable section That leads to a secret If you go to where the second modification drone is Were you normally get your full auto Attachment for your shotgun Break the wall Then look up and turn to the left and double jump up there And you already found the IMP Toy And for your information the blue armor pieces just restore all your armor And they're in place of extra lives But because you're doing it on permanent death It comes up as Sentinel armor And there are also good settings that makes the game much better Go to the UI section in the settings menu Go to menu confirm timeTurn it up or DownIt just makes the mud selection when you get one of the drones faster Or slower Depending on if you make it shorter longer And there's the other setting called crosshair style I recommend The dot As it's a lot cleaner and lets you do precision much better With the automatic gun I forget what it's called But it has the precision scope in the micro missiles Another thing I forgot to Cover When you go into the trainFor a second time The first time you get a grenade launcher But the second time Continue as normal But when the second tentacle pops up kill it Look behind you You will see a box and a little vent system Go into the vent system and the rest is self-explanatory And one more tip On the section in the super GoreNest And you Running away Go past The mancubi Don't fight them You died because of It
I’m only like 20 mins in so this all my be subject to change via u already figuring all this out, but in my personal experience there were 3 major hurdles for me to feel like huge steps towards mastering the combat. 1, and easiest of the bunch, abuse the flame belch. Free shields is a luxury that 2016 did not accommodate very nicely and u can keep stocked up like no tmw if u spam the thing off cooldown. That also goes for flicking in 180s/360s when u use it for massive shield drops. 2, using/swapping ur grenades. My first multiple playthrus I rarely used nades and everything went arguably smoothly, but the difference the freeze nades can make in a pinch (especially when it drops health) can be game changing. I still sometimes forget to swap whenever one’s on cooldown, but at the very least using the one ur on/keeping it on freeze vs only frags can limit the amount of brainpower required while also staying useful. And 3, using the quickswap instead of only the weapon wheel for massive damage output (super shotgun + rocket launcher + ballista + any other heavy single shot). Those can absolutely light up heavier enemies that I prior would just spam the chain gun and dodge around. Ofc if u use num keys for weapon swap then u do u but I could never be reaching over for anything past 4 without developing carpal tunnel. That said, this is just my 2 cents and there are plenty of much higher skilled players in this comment section than me to go in more detail. There’s a lot of other things I’ve learned over the years with Eternal, but those seemed like the most appropriate. Thx for listening to my TED talk

Now that you have the ballista you should start getting better at hot swapping your weapons between the ballista and the super shotgun. That combo does insane damage and if you master the super shotgun you can get shield for using its ability which is super important for a run like this.most importantly,be persistent,learn what you can.and keep trying,I love this series so far and I really hope you win 👍

What happend at 58:52 was an actual intended move. It`s called a yeet hook. Advanced technique but if you are able to use it properly it`s completely changing the gameplay. Maybe watch a tutorial on it if you feel ready Got a new sub Edit: Little survivability Tipp: If you shoot a sticky bomb infront of soldier, you can immediately glory kill him. This also works for the ones with a plasma shield
Dude after watching this I started a run on just ultra violence and am still having a hard time, of course a controller is a little harder to hit weak points fast. Kudos to you.
Try learning fast weapon swapping, its not that hard and it makes the game a lot easier. Early game switching between the combat shotgun sticky grenades (or just normal shot close range) and HC sniper shot Close range i like super shotgun into balista Medium/Long - HC Sniper Shot/Rocket/Balista weapon switches Also try to grind out the super shotgun upgrade as early as you can(and use the hook more, good for movement and escaping dmg), and use freeze grenades a bit more mindfully. In the end of the video if you quick switched between rocket and balista you delete them both before you die Great video brother keep it up
whenever you're entering an encounter don't think about EVERY SINGLE THING you need to use, think of one thing you want to use more such as the flame belch and in that encounter, focus on using flame belch as soon as it goes off cooldown, if you do that with all of abilities, eventually you'll be using your kit to its fullest potential by the end hope this helps!
I think it'd really help to learn where all the sentinel tokens are as you go. Some of the upgrades like for the Flame Belch, and especially frost bomb can seriously amp your ability to fill your health/armor for the 10 seconds those tend to last
If I can fucking do it bro, you can. I’m old and my reflexes are slow and I use a completely different keyboard and mouse layout than literally everyone else on earth. The game gives you all the tools you need to truly _become_ the doom slayer. Ultra Nightmare, the first 3-4 levels are the hardest in the game by far. After that, once you have a good amount of upgrades, it’s all in your hands.
another thing with the "saving throw" rune, is that when the screen turns grey, you can immediately close the game entirely and start up on the latest checkpoint. Loved the vid, and I hope there will be more to come 🙏❤❤❤❤
Yeah just make sure your keybinds are good MB5 : Super shotgun MB4 : Ballista Scroll wheel up : chaingun Scroll wheel down : BFG (you'll see what that is soon) 1 2 3 4 will be combat shotgun then assault rifle then plasma rifle then rocket launcher. A recommendation is that you use the super shotgun combined with the valista or super shotgun + assault rifle, that can help you when you get to that phase and also read the codex, there they put the points Weakness will help you a lot and good luck when you fight the marauder you will need it New subscriber

Don’t kill all fodder enemy’s in the room before dealing with the heavy enemy’s. Having fodder enemy’s is useful so you can chainsaw them and glory kill them. Also when you get the super shotgun try to master it ASAP its mastery is really useful. Also the flame belch is more useful against fodder enemy’s so you can kill the and they can spew out armor because they are on fire for longer then heavy enemy’s. Since the blood punch drops more health then shooting if you use it on fodder enemy’s is tandem with the flame belch you can get lots of health and armor
Use the flame thrower before you glory kill to gain lots of health. When using the meethook, you can move up, move up and cancel the meet hook to get a lot of height(great for movement) also switching weapons auto reloads your previous weapon, so you can quickly snipe someone then shotgun them then snip then again ect ect (the best combo imo is super shot gun and the sniper scope). Using the plasma rifle on the hell Knights (the big fast ones) slows them down a little and stuns them a bit.

here what to do treat dash as a dodge button stop firing shots with the heavy canon until you recieve the precision bolt full auto big demons after you destroy their weakpoints and use the weapon wheel to breath in a fight
i got some tips for you buddy 1-the more you get nervous to die the more stupid things you will do. which is gonna lead u to die faster, 2-dont run (escape) all the time, keep making damage and avoid the enemy shots by movement (speichally when you're low) 3-small demons are basically portable ammo, health, armor. once u understand this, it will make the game much easier for u 4- you can use Chainsaw on heavy demons only if u have it fully charged, but it will use the whole 3 times to kill one heavy demon also, what they mean by each demon has a weakness are heavy demons, not those small ones. ( look at tip 3)
what they meant by "weakness" is most heavy enemies have weakpoints, the spider turret, the mankubus hand cannons. also some enemies are easier to fight with certain weapons and weapon mods, for example use super shotgun or ballista on the marauder. the rest depends on your preferences and gameplay style
Yeah I assumed as much I just knew I was going to run into something that was gonna mess me up so I was trying to take it a little slower so I could maybe have time to react. But that didn't go quite to plan 🤣
By how you are progressing, I believe the Marauder wont be an issue if you take the fight calmly, although he can be very pushy. Also, at the end of super gore nest, just rush pass everything 👌🏾
Whenever you decide to pick up this again, i highly recommend giving the microwave beam for the plasma rifle a try. You can use it to temporarily stun a heavy demon, or it can also be used to deal with whiplashes since it stops them dead in their tracks. It does eat up a lot of ammo though. Good luck on future attempts

Early game you should keep moving and only use sticky bombs and precision bolt use Ur utility as much as you can and look at the index for the demons weaknesses (I've loved this series thanks so much for putting time into this vid)

The enemies are weak to certain ammo types since guns usually share ammo with another weapon example (shotgun and double barrel shotgun) so it’s based on ammo types
Use your precision bolt on your heavy cannon, it does more damage than you think especially with the ballista and the super shot gun. Also use rocket and precision bolt to do the most damage and always keep moving.

Tip, maybe if you record the video then record the audio on top of it you can play easier? You know you won't have to talk and play.
Using the chainsaw gives you invulnerability frames. Use it as often as possible. Ammo is vital. Don't worry about saving fuel like someone else commented, 1 shotting 1 heavy is not useful if you're handicapping yourself by having no ammo.
Meathook is your best friend, learn to use it well. Up close the Super Shotgun does the most single shot damage out of any weapon besides the super weapons.
The ballista is great for long distance, it's a far better version of the precision bolt. You can destroy enemy weakpoints with it. It deals heavy damage. Use the ice bomb and get "permafrost" in the suit tab. Pull out the ballista and charge the destroyer blade and shoot out an ice bomb at the same time. This will freeze a bunch of enemies and allow you do massive damage.
The chaingun energy shield mod gives you invincibility to almost everything including fall damage, but not AoE damage like cyber mancubus goo.

@ImRecap yeah, using every weapon is definitely the biggest step to conquering combat, but it's definitely difficult, especially being thrown into Ultra Nightmare, haha. You do utilise your current weapon selection really well, just gradually try adding another weapon in there. The chaingun with the shield is the biggest lifesaver in the game by far so I recommend that. As soon as you're low HP just activate that bad boy, get some distance, get a few fodder demons into glory kill state, and get some health back. It's basically a panic button lol.
Fair enough to be fair i am fairly accustomed to playing ultra nightmare your not wrong tho by saying to use the chainsaw as much as possible it mostly comes down to your playstyle ammo is not too much of a concern for me because you always get 1 chainsaw fuel back anyway whether you kill 3 foder demons or one heavy demon is all up to preference(I know you get more ammo from killing 3 foder demons I just prefer to prioritize heavy demons more my playstyle isn't very efficient tho) your tip is more useful
Also by the time I run out of ammo I can chainsaw a foder demon because the regen for the chainsaw fuel is fairly quick foder demons always spawn(there are exceptions to this) as long as their are heavy demons I get more value by eliminating a heavy demon of the board because they don't come back the down side that you pointed out is that they don't give as much ammo on the other hand if I kill 3 foder demons I get little to no value because as stated above foder demons usually respawn as long as heavy demons are around the upside is it offers more ammo I am also pretty sure it's also quicker because you don't have to wait for the chainsaw to refuel you can just get ammo at anytime in the fight (by the way tell me if I am wrong i am pretty sure I might be? just to clarify on this I want you to share your experiences as I am sure I can learn something new from you )

Loved this video, 1hr of this was a treat! I was hoping to see the part 2, now waiting for part 3. In the end of Super Gore Nest all you need to do really is just run for it, when you see the 2 mancubus again just put a freeze grenade in the middle and keep running, there's no point in wasting time and fighting them. Definitely try to use/quickswitch to ballista more often, maybe even try to go for a precision bolt + ballista shot it's a very common quickswitch for good damage. The blue orb you passed at 1:13:30 refills all of your health and armor which is very useful in situations like in the stated timeline especially in UN. As you progress and get the Air Control try to jump around more and use bounce pads, you're much harder to hit if you're in the air. There is also a very useful mastery for the super shotgun which gives you armor every time you meathook onto demons, it's literally free armor of +20 generation.

I forgot to mention, always take the sentinel crystals first in the ship with the sentinel batteries when you get back from Doom Hunter Base, you're gonna need those extra health/armor/ammo as early as possible, ESPECIALLY in UN. Anyways this run was way better than the first one, with this pace you will definitely beat UN as a new player if you utilize your arsenal well. Hope to see a part 3 some day!
I'm really enjoying this series. I've beaten the game on Ultra-Nightmare, and spent a TON of time practicing, routing, and learning the individual encounters. Watching your approach to Ultra NIghtmare is super fun, but man you've taken a masochistic approach. There's a ton of tutorials and info out there, Under The Mayo has a great series talking about the falter mechanic. Essentially, much like a fighting game, you can combo and stunlock enemies, and absolutely trash them. You've picked an immensely punishing way to go about trying to learn the game.

The most important tip is to use your super shotgun as often as possible, this should be your bread and butter as soon as you acquire it. Especially when demons get close to you. Three things, that purple orb is 4x damage. Read the codex to see tips for dealing with the demons. If you see cracks in the wall you can punch them to break the wall.

First of all, I am impressed. You really have some good game sense.
Second of all, I have a few tips for your next run:
1. Those blue orbs with a face you sometimes see restore all your healt and armor
2. Those purple orbs with a skull inside are powerups called onslaught and multiplies all your damage by four
3. I saw you had a few fps drops like at 23:22, try lowering you video settings to get higher fps for a smoother gameplay. It really helps.
4. Read the codex, because for some demons it tells their weak points.

I would say the most important things in the game are the super shotgun and the dash. Movement is key, so mastering the super shotgun’s meat hook and upgrading your dash is very important. Really any upgrade that allows you to move faster or easier is important. You are doing insanely well though and you gotta keep at it! But for things to work on going forward I recommend focusing on the super shotgun and meat hook, that is what I believe to be the most important weapon in the game, but you’re insanely good and I am excited to see how you will do next time

The single most important tip for this game: it’s _always_ faster to swap to a different weapon than to wait for the next shot, or wait through a reload animation.

2 things I recommend to help; 1.upgrade your suit's movement skills before your grenades. They will give you Fast dash refill, fast ledge grab, fast weapon swap, glory kill dash refill. They are the best.
2. Upgrade your suit to have 'immunity to barrel explosions' . Barrels can kill you easily in the early game and end your UN run.

This has got to be my new favorite doom eternal video and two tips make sure to use the ballista and the chain gun I will not express this enough. They are probably the two most broken guns in the game besides the BFG and you can just straight up run through that part you do not need to fight a single enemy.

There are the weakpoints the game tells you about, but there are some others you can know by reading the codex, like the Cacodemons dying with just one Arbalest shot and Pinkys and Spectres being instakilled by the Blood Punch. Also when using a single shot weapon, like the Super Shotgun or the Ballista swapping the weapon for another one skips the reloading animation

Dude love these doom eternal videos they really are a blast to watch. As a guy who beat Doom Eternal on ultra nightmare I have a few suggestions for you:
1) You have to get used to weapon swapping a lot to maximize your dps if you want to have an easier time especially in the later levels. What I mean by that is after the first 3 levels you will have enough weapons and weapon mods to shoot with precision bolt swap to rocket, fire a single one or lock on swap to super shotgun + meathook... and so on. You dont have to do this in the early levels but starting with Super Gore Nest the levels becomes more and more challenging and throws more demons at you. Swapping your weapons makes their recharge time quicker.
2) NEVER STOP MOVING! You may think that you know where all the demons are but trust me you dont and you will die. Prowlers can teleport, carcass can block your way out with an energy shield, cacodemons and shotgunners are sneaky etc etc. This is probably the first thing you need to learn and implement. Always dash around and use meathook after acquiring super shotgun.
3) In suit upgrades your priorities should be the one that charge your dash faster, swap your guns faster, immunity to explosive(this doesnt make you immune to rocket splash damage tho remember that) and normal granade upgrades.
4) Be calm dont try to rush a level or an arena. Always try to kill the demons in the air first cause in battles air is your most safe travelling method.
5) Upgrade and master super shotgun as soon as you can it will save you so get used to using super shotgun instead of combat shotgun. On level 3 try to save your weapon points and use them on super shotgun when you acquire it. After that upgrade lock on rocket starting with lock on speed.
6) Attend the weapon keybinds to what you feel comftable. For example I use Q for Rockets and ALT for ballista. Customize them to your liking and get used to it.
7) Always try to use flame belch on grouped up smaller demons if you can, even if you have full armor. Those armor shard stay on the ground for a while and save your life when you take damage. Just remember where they are and rush to them. Big demons are not worth to use the flame belch as they extinguish too quickly(unless you have the upgrade for that).
8) Prioritize weak point on the enemies: Shoot the arachnatron turret, mancubus hands, rocket launchers of revanants and so on. Airborne enemies have a weakness to ballista(you can learn this type of stuff in the codex so read it). You can kill a cacodemon with a ballista shot to super shotgun to the face.
9) Doom Hunters: You dont have to destroy their shield to damage them, you just have to damage their sled. Use ice bomb to freeze then super shotgun + rocket or blood punch until it breaks and then just use lock on for an easy kill. also a full lock on rocket kills hell knights, whiplashes, revanants, cacodemons and puts dread knights to glorykill state. A super shotgun upclose kills prowlers, carcasses with one shot and sometimes puts revanants in glory kill state. A blood punch kill pinkies even from front.
10) If you want to complete ultra nightmare without ever trying normal diffuculties, remember to have fun cause if you get bored, you will lose focus and die.
I really hope you stay engaged in the game and enjoy it because this challenge would probably cost me my sanity so hats off to you for even trying this much after 40 deaths. As the Game Director Hugo Martin said the Ultra-Nightmare is for the black belts of the Doom Eternal. I believe you can achieve it as you are already doing amazing.

Thanks for the tips! I didn't know, or I guess give any thought to, the fact that the armor shards would stay on the ground from my flamebelch. I was always trying to wait to use it until I was at least hit a little but that's a good idea to just keep spamming it whenever. And yeah I def want to get better at using my entire arsenal, especially the super shotgun cause that thing was sick!

When you get into focus mode then you play really well, your aim is really good so it’s clear you’re not new to FPS. You likewise eventually do get new techniques drilled into your head, your flamebelch and utility usage is really good. I’d say the rest of what you lack is just general gun knowledge, so I have a few tips for you:
-the optional pink gore nest encounters will give you additional weapon upgrade points to level up your arsenal faster and are usually quite easy (the second one on lvl 3 is actually weirdly difficult so you can def skip that one), likewise completing mission bonus objectives (can be found in the map pause menu) will also give additional sentinel coins to upgrade your suit. Again these are all optional but can be useful for getting a better advantage earlier. The map menu will also help you find other missed upgrades if needed, it’s useful to give it a look over at the end of the mission so you can use fast travel (won’t be risking fighting enemies again) and find anything you missed that you think you’ll need.
-The plasma rifle is highly underrated, the heat blast has a “force falter” effect meaning if a bunch of enemies are about to pound you, the heat blast will force them all to stumble while you dash away, even a lowest charge heat blast will force falter. The blood punch also has this effect, so do frags once you upgrade them for it. This is a bit advanced but will many times be the difference between living or not. So when you see a mancubus, try lobbing a frag or using heat blast to get close, use a blood punch, then dash away while sustaining fire. This is also very useful for the whiplash enemies as it relies on splash damage to hit them rather than having to aim precise shots on their skinny figure. Just be mindful that enemies will hit back hard with their melee attacks so stay on your feet!
-Don’t be afraid to just spam sticky bombs, no normal shots needed! The reload is fast so you can just go to town with them. Working on the mastery by shooting every arachno turret with it after buying the upgrades is also definitely worth so that you can get the 5 shot. This, as well as meathook flame, is the among the best weapon mastery upgrades. Also the sticky’s explosion will stagger a zombie soldier, a direct hit will kill it. So if you need a quick glory kill on a full hp soldier, shoot a sticky at its feet.
-Lock-on-burst will stagger a full hp arachnotron and Dreadknight.
-Get used to using your meathook and SSG a LOT more, like even try to force yourself to use it. Again in combo with utility and blood punch, you can get good damage from it and clear waves in seconds.
-The Doom Hunter fight went shockingly well for you but it is notorious for ending UN runs. The best way to deal huge damage while the Hunter is in its first phase is to freeze and blood punch the sled, it takes extra damage from the punch. If you add the upgrade that increases damage dealt to frozen enemies then you almost totally wreck its first phase, just add a frag and an SSG shot and it’s done. Make sure to dash out in time so you don’t get smacked. I would honestly ignore shooting plasma at its shield as it’s just time consuming and the point is to break its sled in its first phase, so you can just spam aoe damage until the sled breaks (stickies, rockets, frags).
-Lastly, weapon swap combos aren’t necessary but will help you loads, especially against the marauder. I highly recommend practicing weapon swap comboing with the sniper+rocket launcher, as well as sniper+SSG and sniper+ballista. The marauder will make your life miserable if quick swap combos aren’t used.

one of the best strategies for dealing damage is quickly switching between single shot weapons like SSG/ballista + the energy shield mod on the chaingun is very strong and will save your life on many occasions. great video!!

When you use a sniper and it has to reload punch instead of waiting to reload because whenever you switch to a weapon and then switch back to the heavy canon you can instantly snipe again. Since your fist counts as a different weapon you can snipe then punch then snipe then punch then snip etc. It lets you get some INSANE damage output.

Quick tips for the 1st and 3rd arachnotron In the start :
Save 3 Chainsaw fuels To insta kill the First Arachnotron.
And for the 3rd one (one in the hallway) you dont need to actually fight ANY enemies there, Just Quickly take his Turret thing out with your Sticky Shotgun and run past them.
In doom internal, make sure that you upgrade the super shotgun to the flying belch 21:50

After watching this all the way through, dude you kicked ass. Getting through level 4 and 5 without any knowledge of spawns and learning new enemies on the fly is super impressive. I don’t wanna spoil anything, but the next time you play and happen to get through Super Gore Nest, the game WILL start throwing a lot more at you since your arsenal will be mostly complete by then. And then the boss fights will be tough since you won’t have any experience with them. Regardless, you are a true slayer, brother!

Bro doing Gore nest blind Ultra Nightmare and getting to the end is INCREDIBLE. The only thing that killed you was that you don't know the spawns at the end yet.. Dude playing at this level blind is ridiculous.I really think when you get to the marauder (he will kill you) you should just watch a video on how to deal with them before trying again. Because getting that far not knowing about them is just cruel. You can still be using the flaming belch alot more. Using it on nearly every demon kill is key. And getting the option that allows you to get armor every meathook is so good.

Some tips specific for early game:
1. Constantly use sticky bombs and sniper shot. They should always be in use or on cooldown
2. Constantly bunny hop
3. Plasma rifle is the goat of early game, shoot small enemies to FULL charge blast, find and flame belch big enemy, blast, repeat
4. Trust the process! You will build muscle memory especially with flame belch to the point you instinctively press it before every blast, grenade, glory kill, chainsaw kill
5. Staying still is never an option, if you miss a shot just move on and circle back

some tips:
1. Always focus on enemy weakpoints. Best way to do that is with the sticky bombs or precision bolt as they will be your best friend.
2. When the maurader comes, be ready. He is an absoloute unit but hes not awful in a 1v1. Tutorial will tell you how to deal with him but i mostly leave them till last in fight arenas.
3. Super shotgun + Balista combo (Use Q to quickly swap back and forth to offset any time having to reload) is a great way to deal with any big enemies (Especially the marauder (Super shotgun to stun him then swap to balista, shoot, then swap to balista, shoot and over and over till the stun window is over) )with a lot of health once their armour is off or if they dont have armour.
4. Focus on the Super shotgun and sticky bomb mastery upgrades. The sticky bombs one is less important but very nice to have.
5. READ THE CODEX ENTRIES ON NEW ENEMIES. This is your main way of seeing what their weakpoints are, what ammo types they are vulnerable to and how they operate.
6. Its been a while since i have played the base campaign but spec your sentinal crystals into everything but the two that pickup health/armour to charge blood punch when at max health/armour as these are, imo, the weakest sentinal crystal upgrades.
7. Use the chaingun on the big enemies that dont have armour as there are A METRIC FK TON of them in the later game and the chaingun eats through them (along with your ammo)
8. Just do everything in your power to stay alive, even if that means playing like a bit of a pussy, just stay alive yet always move.
9. Focus big enemies one by one, dont go for all of them at once unless you can blow off multiple weakpoints with a couple sticky bombs in the middle of a crowd.
10. My personal runes were the one that makes you glory kill faster, the one thats gives you a huge speed boost after a glory kill and the one that gives extra air control ( I cannot play without the third one /: )
These are what got me through the game when i played for the first time. I didnt include anything about movement cause i just use dash whenever its feels right and always make sure im moving so i dont get trapped.

You are a braver man than i , i'm good at og doom and doom 2016 isnt bad. But Eternal is so hard. i only be it on normal and was infuriated lol.
GG for trying UN with very few hours on your counter. I'm at at least 1400 hours (had the Bethesda louncher for the longest time, that does not track gaming hours, so had to guesstimate my playtime befor they migrated to steam finally).
Some tips that can be helpful to you:
1. the first 3 levels (HoE, Exultia, CB) are the toughest in the campagne
2. use 3-pip chainsaw to get rid of the heavies (Arachno + Hell Knight) strattegically in HoE and Exultia
3. use the full auto mod to melt heavies in HoE rather than stickies
4. set an upgrade strategy depending on your play style and stick to it, tune when you feel like it but most importantly, stay with a strat and learn from it. Here's 2 examples strats for a) speed and quicksaps (QS) play style or b) defensive play style if you get lost on your keyboard and are not comfy with QS like I am.
4a for suit percs
get "quick sapper" first when you are comfortable with (QS). When you can nail precision-bolt (PB)+ Sticky bombs and then PB + Rockets and PB- super shot gun (SSG) you're basically over powered straight ahead from cultist base on. Then get the faster dasher, then decide if you upgrade grenades or ice bomb or thicker skin if you find you die from exploding barrels.
4a for cristals
get quick draw belsh first, then decide if you prefer loot magnet or napalm belch
4a for runes
get air control first, then blood fuled and decide if you prefer savagery or equipment fiend
4a for weapons
fully upgrade PB and get bigger boom for sticky bomb, then SSG fully and master PB and meathook ASAP. Decide which upgrade makes more sense to you next.
4b for suit percs
faster dasher, then grappler, then quick swapper
4b for cristals
Loot magnet first, then quick draw belch, then napalm belch
4b for runes
first dazed and confused, then air control, then decide if you prefer blood fueld or equipment fiend.
4b for weapons
keep all upgrade points untill you get the super shot gun and rocket louncher in cultist base, upgrade lock on louncher fully and super shotgun fully in cultist base and master them ASAP.
ADDITIONAL TIPPS:
- use the batteries to get the cristals first inside the hub, then get the preator suit points, get the upgrades last
- if you're not a completionist, leave the slayer gates on your UN runs, they only serve to get the Unmakyr and its below the BFG imho
- get used to PB-balista the mancubus canons and revenant rocket launcher from afar
- the ID Tech engine (graphics engine) on which the game is built is kind of wonky: the higher your FPS, the faster the game. When your framer ate is capped at 60 or 120 or if you play above 120 or even permanently at 250 you get considerable different experiences. All the enemies and you as the player move faster the higher the FPS
- you experienced yeet hook in cultist base, look it up, it's powerful
- max out the field of view (FOV) to 120
- doom hunters get off their sled with the blood punch (BP), grenade, SSG combo
- upgrading the ice bomb to longer freez heavy deamons is useful against doom hunters and archviles speically
- if you find you like the BP a lot, there's a dedicated upgrade strat for BP.
- you don't need to battle on the way out of super gore nest (SGN), just run and void every body, those 2 mancubus you got stuck on are just for show, there's a Marauder later in this escape as well, just blitz by.
- you can swap runes during your game. Swap one rune for saving throw when you get dangerously low on health until you recover. Swap back to your initial rune once you res-tacked health.

Pb and sticky grenades attack most of enemies weak points. Mancubis cannon, aracnitron laser, revenants shoulder cannon.
Another one is the doom hunter, you can just attack its sled instead of stunning it with the plasma rifle. Usually any weapon will work just pb and ssg are good.
Also if you switch from pb to another weapon back to pb, the pb will get rid of any cooldown that weapon has
oh that's good to know cause that cooldown is always really annoying 😂
@ yea np, big thanks to all of the speed runners in doom eternal and 2016, hot swapping is in both games but eternal focuses on it more, also the pb completely gets rid of it but if you go ssg->ballista-> ssg. The cooldown will somewhat be there, it’s just better to do (pb-> ssg/ballista/rocket->pb) just over and over but it does take some time and skill to learn how to switch between every weapon at will. Also punch canceling is like pb but it’s a little bit harder. They count your melee as a weapon, so that’s why most speedrunners shoot a rocket then punch, it just gets rid of the cooldown like pb. So yea if you need anymore tips, just go watch absolute massives 100% Speedrun wr. That’s where I found most tricks

chainsaw is probably the most important utility like, ever. its going to be ur best friend for literally ever. you’re almost always either completely out of ammo or extremely close to it a lot of the time so make sure you give it some love.
utilise movement as well. once you have the movement rune itll be your other best friend forever.
make your keybinds something you can comfortably move to and remember about too.
priority should be:
chainsaw
anytime you take damage take note of your armour first. if its too low for your liking then go in and flame belch but be careful because you’ll be really close to them
again, movement is extremely important as well. try not to dash too much and waste them because you cant regenerate them in the air. make sure to try and prioritise certain enemies too. hardest to easiest (use the fodder whenever you need to as well).
glory kills are good as well but if youre going for it, use your flame belch before you do it too so you can get your armour back too.

damn not knowing anything beforehand and jump straight to UN and get to Super Gore Nest is super impressive. I wanna share some tips here so wall of texts imcoming (sorry):
-Try spams sticky bomb more on early level because a sticky can get you guaranteed kill on a fodder, plus it AOE is better for group, one sticky on a group is always better than shot them individuality, its more ammo efficiency that way (plus regular shot suck)
- Sticky bombs can be crit if you lands it on the head, a crit will increase damage and got bigger AOE. You can tell if it's a crit or not by theirs flashes, flashes blue=crit
- Always uses flame on group unless you're on 1hp and panic, if that happen you can quickly flame+chainsaw a fodder for quick armor+ (keep in mind if you do that too fast the flame sometime wont register)
- You should save your weapon point for your lock-on rocket and super shotgun. For the lock-on getting faster lock speed is sooo much better and more manageable. As for the super shotgun (SSG) it first two upgrades might not seem that useful but its mastery perk is a game changer, it'll light demon on fire if you hook onto them for short period of time, acting like a single target flame belch. It'll save you on life or death situation. You will have to do the mastery challenge to get it but it's one of the easiest mastery challenge you can do in the game and you will get them naturally if you using the SSG more frequently. It's also good if you combine that with the equipment fiend rune because when you getting armor from a hook kill the rune will count it as equipment kill and therefore your flame belch will recharge faster.
- Learn how to ultilize the meat hook on the SSG more is or also a key, like for example in 58:52 what you done is called a "yeet hook" and it's the bread and butter of doom eternal speedrunning. Basically if you hook onto something and you hold strafe and while holding strafe you cut off the hook by switching to another weapon you can swing really fast to the direction youre holding (its also depends on how much fps you had, more fps=more speed). Yeet hooking is just one of many cool thing you can do with the meat hook. You can use it to get airborne or get to higher platform simply by double jump->hooking onto an enemy and then jump again (the hook will reset your jump mid-air). You can also redirect yourself mid-air to get into better position with that method. You can also hooking onto a stagger enemy from far away to get a quick glory kill (plus some armor if you had it mastery)
- The Doom Hunter is extremely weak to blood punches. It might not be as useful on the boss fight since the boss version got more health and your blood punch haven't gotten upgrade at that point (but it still does decent amount of damage) but once they become common enemy a freeze->blood punch->a direct 1-2 SSG shots to his sled will instantly knock him to his "critical damage" phase and from that point just 1 lock-on and he's pretty much dead.
- As for Pinkies aside from shooting at his butt you can one shot it simply by blood punching it, head or tail doesnt matter because blood punches goes straight through his protected armor. Invicible pinkies (or spectre pinkies) work the same way plus they don't had their head protected like the normal one so you can just shoot them wherever you want.
- The red pit on level 4 cultist base is extremely easy if you uses the cueballs demon right. Do not wasting them, use them to your advantage.
- The last part of super gore nest are just an escape section so you can just run pass everything to get to the end so don't bother killing them it'll only waste your time
- You might wanna experiment with your FOV option more because in a game this fast-paced a default 90 FOV might not be enough especially when you're surrounded on a big arena fight. I'd recommend to crank it up to 110 or even 120 (120 might sound a bit much but its actually not that bad in this game) of course do whatever you're comfortable with.
- If you getting tired of King Novik speech you can simply get a mod to skip that, it's also help you skips some unnecessary unskipable cutscenes, sped up or skip entire elevator section. Installing it is very easy, simply right click on Doom Eternal in your steam libary->properties->betas and set beta participation to "pc mod preview". And whenever you start the game a launcher will pop up, go to "Mods" tab and go to "Browse" login to your bethesda account, once you logged in search "streamlined campaign", download it and go to "Play Mods" and drag the mod on "Installed mods" to "Active Mods" and then press the green button that said "Play DOOM Eternal with mods" on top right. Whenever you want to play with that mod again you have to launch the game via that green button or else the mod won't work

Something that I do is use the chainsaw as a panic button when you’re about to die. I believe you get some health from it. When doing this also try to use flame belch so you can get armor as well. You can do this!

I have some tips for you If you go to where you would normally go in the first section And get passed all the zombies but turn left instead of right You will find a breakable section That leads to a secret If you go to where the second modification drone is Were you normally get your full auto Attachment for your shotgun Break the wall Then look up and turn to the left and double jump up there And you already found the IMP Toy And for your information the blue armor pieces just restore all your armor And they're in place of extra lives But because you're doing it on permanent death It comes up as Sentinel armor And there are also good settings that makes the game much better Go to the UI section in the settings menu Go to menu confirm timeTurn it up or DownIt just makes the mud selection when you get one of the drones faster Or slower Depending on if you make it shorter longer And there's the other setting called crosshair style I recommend The dot As it's a lot cleaner and lets you do precision much better With the automatic gun I forget what it's called But it has the precision scope in the micro missiles Another thing I forgot to Cover When you go into the trainFor a second time The first time you get a grenade launcher But the second time Continue as normal But when the second tentacle pops up kill it Look behind you You will see a box and a little vent system Go into the vent system and the rest is self-explanatory And one more tip On the section in the super GoreNest And you Running away Go past The mancubi Don't fight them You died because of It
I’m only like 20 mins in so this all my be subject to change via u already figuring all this out, but in my personal experience there were 3 major hurdles for me to feel like huge steps towards mastering the combat.
1, and easiest of the bunch, abuse the flame belch. Free shields is a luxury that 2016 did not accommodate very nicely and u can keep stocked up like no tmw if u spam the thing off cooldown. That also goes for flicking in 180s/360s when u use it for massive shield drops.
2, using/swapping ur grenades. My first multiple playthrus I rarely used nades and everything went arguably smoothly, but the difference the freeze nades can make in a pinch (especially when it drops health) can be game changing. I still sometimes forget to swap whenever one’s on cooldown, but at the very least using the one ur on/keeping it on freeze vs only frags can limit the amount of brainpower required while also staying useful.
And 3, using the quickswap instead of only the weapon wheel for massive damage output (super shotgun + rocket launcher + ballista + any other heavy single shot). Those can absolutely light up heavier enemies that I prior would just spam the chain gun and dodge around. Ofc if u use num keys for weapon swap then u do u but I could never be reaching over for anything past 4 without developing carpal tunnel.
That said, this is just my 2 cents and there are plenty of much higher skilled players in this comment section than me to go in more detail. There’s a lot of other things I’ve learned over the years with Eternal, but those seemed like the most appropriate. Thx for listening to my TED talk

Now that you have the ballista you should start getting better at hot swapping your weapons between the ballista and the super shotgun. That combo does insane damage and if you master the super shotgun you can get shield for using its ability which is super important for a run like this.most importantly,be persistent,learn what you can.and keep trying,I love this series so far and I really hope you win 👍

Dude after watching this I started a run on just ultra violence and am still having a hard time, of course a controller is a little harder to hit weak points fast. Kudos to you.

Try learning fast weapon swapping, its not that hard and it makes the game a lot easier.
Early game switching between the combat shotgun sticky grenades (or just normal shot close range) and HC sniper shot
Close range i like super shotgun into balista
Medium/Long - HC Sniper Shot/Rocket/Balista weapon switches
Also try to grind out the super shotgun upgrade as early as you can(and use the hook more, good for movement and escaping dmg), and use freeze grenades a bit more mindfully.
In the end of the video if you quick switched between rocket and balista you delete them both before you die

whenever you're entering an encounter don't think about EVERY SINGLE THING you need to use, think of one thing you want to use more such as the flame belch and in that encounter, focus on using flame belch as soon as it goes off cooldown, if you do that with all of abilities, eventually you'll be using your kit to its fullest potential by the end hope this helps!
I think it'd really help to learn where all the sentinel tokens are as you go. Some of the upgrades like for the Flame Belch, and especially frost bomb can seriously amp your ability to fill your health/armor for the 10 seconds those tend to last
There's a suit upgrade that lets you see secrets. Some secrets might have stuff to help you can help you upgrade yourself.
If I can fucking do it bro, you can. I’m old and my reflexes are slow and I use a completely different keyboard and mouse layout than literally everyone else on earth. The game gives you all the tools you need to truly _become_ the doom slayer. Ultra Nightmare, the first 3-4 levels are the hardest in the game by far. After that, once you have a good amount of upgrades, it’s all in your hands.
another thing with the "saving throw" rune, is that when the screen turns grey, you can immediately close the game entirely and start up on the latest checkpoint. Loved the vid, and I hope there will be more to come 🙏❤❤❤❤

A recommendation is that you use the super shotgun combined with the valista or super shotgun + assault rifle, that can help you when you get to that phase and also read the codex, there they put the points Weakness will help you a lot and good luck when you fight the marauder you will need it

1:13:31 you can pick the blue orb up for MAX health its really usefull and at the final part you dont have to kill any monsters just rush past them

Don’t kill all fodder enemy’s in the room before dealing with the heavy enemy’s. Having fodder enemy’s is useful so you can chainsaw them and glory kill them. Also when you get the super shotgun try to master it ASAP its mastery is really useful. Also the flame belch is more useful against fodder enemy’s so you can kill the and they can spew out armor because they are on fire for longer then heavy enemy’s. Since the blood punch drops more health then shooting if you use it on fodder enemy’s is tandem with the flame belch you can get lots of health and armor

Use the flame thrower before you glory kill to gain lots of health. When using the meethook, you can move up, move up and cancel the meet hook to get a lot of height(great for movement) also switching weapons auto reloads your previous weapon, so you can quickly snipe someone then shotgun them then snip then again ect ect (the best combo imo is super shot gun and the sniper scope). Using the plasma rifle on the hell Knights (the big fast ones) slows them down a little and stuns them a bit.
I have beaten ultra nightmare before, and it is extremely difficult. You are doing great though keep up the good work
ALSO using the full auto shotgun mod is a great way to kill hell Knights aswell
You can turn off empowered demons in the settings. i would recommend turning them off

33:15 the weak spots on mankubuses are it's turrets so make sure to shoot both of them with precision bolt and keep far away

i got some tips for you buddy
1-the more you get nervous to die the more stupid things you will do. which is gonna lead u to die faster,
2-dont run (escape) all the time, keep making damage and avoid the enemy shots by movement (speichally when you're low)
3-small demons are basically portable ammo, health, armor. once u understand this, it will make the game much easier for u
4- you can use Chainsaw on heavy demons only if u have it fully charged, but it will use the whole 3 times to kill one heavy demon
also, what they mean by each demon has a weakness are heavy demons, not those small ones. ( look at tip 3)
what they meant by "weakness" is most heavy enemies have weakpoints, the spider turret, the mankubus hand cannons. also some enemies are easier to fight with certain weapons and weapon mods, for example use super shotgun or ballista on the marauder. the rest depends on your preferences and gameplay style

The section where you last died at I recommend that you just run at mach ten speed and evoid everything because if the timer goes down to zero you die

By how you are progressing, I believe the Marauder wont be an issue if you take the fight calmly, although he can be very pushy. Also, at the end of super gore nest, just rush pass everything 👌🏾

Whenever you decide to pick up this again, i highly recommend giving the microwave beam for the plasma rifle a try. You can use it to temporarily stun a heavy demon, or it can also be used to deal with whiplashes since it stops them dead in their tracks. It does eat up a lot of ammo though. Good luck on future attempts

@@Duck-cv6pu early game heat blast is more useful, gives you solid aoe damage and falter tool in exultia. When your arsenal is more complete, then yeah microwave beam becomes viable
Early game you should keep moving and only use sticky bombs and precision bolt use Ur utility as much as you can and look at the index for the demons weaknesses (I've loved this series thanks so much for putting time into this vid)

The enemies are weak to certain ammo types since guns usually share ammo with another weapon example (shotgun and double barrel shotgun) so it’s based on ammo types

The Blue Orb with a face gives you full health and armor.
Use your precision bolt on your heavy cannon, it does more damage than you think especially with the ballista and the super shot gun. Also use rocket and precision bolt to do the most damage and always keep moving.
I been playing doom eternal for a year and somehow this guy is literally better than me in ultra nightmare
